Chapter 569

Greed shouted at the imp, "Who can remember everything? You cowardly little thing did nothing along the way, just hiding and playing dead in the bag, of course you remember everything!"
"Oh… Oh, I won’t say anything!" The imp hid its head back in the bag.
"So, Jesse, are you planning to go?" Vereesa asked, "It would be a big help to me, I really want to catch this target."
"I’ve always been worried if you’d be willing to go." Jesse smiled and said, "After all, I was the one who originally wanted to find Dethmoora Darkeye herself, Vereesa."
"That’s great." Vereesa smiled and said, "I knew you would definitely go."
Jesse said, "If we can find her servant, we’ll be one step closer to finding her."
Molofeel said, "Finding the summoner through summoning creatures is something we Sayaad often had to do before, Master. As long as that summoner is still alive, finding her shouldn’t be difficult."
Vereesa looked at the demon and nodded, then glanced at Greed.
"Well, since I have nothing else to do all day anyway, why not go!" Greed said. "By the way, where is this place?"
"Feralas," Jesse said. "It’s where we should have been from the beginning. If Thousand Needles hadn’t been taken over by the Centaur Tribe, we would have come here from Feralas, which would have been much closer than crossing the entire prairie."
"I know it’s in that jungle, Jesse," Greed said. "But that jungle is not a small oasis. It looks huge even on the goblin’s map. How are we going to find it?"
With Greed’s words, Jesse remembered the Night Elf-occupied island outside the western coast of Feralas – Feathermoon Stronghold.
It’s unknown how difficult it is to pass through the mountains in the southern Desolace to reach Feralas while avoiding the Night Elf patrols. At least the Satyrs didn’t succeed, so what are the chances of this group sneaking past?
"No one knows the exact location, but there is a general idea, Greed," Vereesa said. "I don’t think a city can hide that well, especially since Seekers from the Magus group have already seen the walls of Eldre’Thalas."
"What about Mosa?" Jesse asked. "What is her plan?"
Vereesa didn’t say anything to Mosa yet. Tauren touched his chest and said, "Eldre’Thalas, I will handle more demons."
"Ha, if you really become a ranger lord in the future, Vereesa, don’t forget Mosa’s contribution!" Greed said as he punched Tauren on the waist. Despite the punch, Tauren remained calm and even chuckled.
Vereesa stepped back, looking at Jesse in front of her, and said, "Of course I won’t forget, and you all are still with me."
"We are basically mercenaries for money," Jesse said, "But Mosa doesn’t want anything, she only helps us wholeheartedly."
"She doesn’t want anything?" Vereesa raised her eyebrows, glanced at the dwarf beside her, and Greed cleared his throat loudly, saying, "Anyway, we have reached a consensus, and our next target is that ancient city."
His words echoed in the deep cave, accompanied by the sound of flowing water nearby. It was only then that everyone snapped out of their future plans, realizing they hadn’t even left Maraudon yet.
Walking from the pool below Zaetar’s tomb, Jesse could feel the powerful life force of hostility around rapidly weakening.
This reminded him of when he entered Desolace from Stonetalon, seeing the sparse vegetation, exposed rocks, and bleak land replacing the forests and shrubs. The green mountains turned into gray-brown earth slopes.
Now, in the cave, the algae or other unidentifiable plants were diminishing. Only patches of water grass remained under the riverbed, bringing the life force from the depths of Zaetar’s tomb, not yet completely swallowed by the already dead Desolace.
However, Jesse’s mindset had changed. Before, losing a life meant more danger, but now, his weakening life meant they were getting further away from the terror of Maraudon. It was a small comfort in the endless darkness.
After walking for who knows how long, Jesse was feeling very tired and his stomach was growling. But since he didn’t know the time, he wasn’t sure if he should sleep or eat something.
The others kept moving forward as usual, showing no signs of tiredness. Jesse didn’t want to show weakness and discourage his companions, so he forced himself to continue.
After a while, a cold wind blew in from the front, startling the numb Jesse.
"Wind!" Greed reached out and asked, "Are we near the exit?!"
Vereesa immediately ran ahead, with Jesse, Greed, and Mosa running after her.
The sound of their footsteps echoed in the cave, gradually fading away. Until a faint silver light ahead was barely visible, Jesse wondered if he was imagining it due to desperately wanting to leave.
Vereesa squeezed out from between two rocks in front, with Jesse following. Pushing through layers of salty roots and soil, Jesse almost stumbled into the water ahead. Stabilizing himself, he saw the vast empty shoreline under the moonlight.
Behind them was a dense forest, with cliffs and peaks layering in the distance. In the night, they looked like giant Mountain Giants huddling together in various poses. Jesse started to worry if they would suddenly stretch and speak.
Who would have known there was a silent Elemental Lord living below, if we hadn’t just come out from inside?
"Anyway, we survived, Jesse," Greed said, hands on hips, looking out at the sea ahead.
Jesse nodded as Vereesa dashed all the way to the distant beach ahead.
"What is she going to do?"
Greed shook his head, while Tauren gazed blankly at the shrinking figure of the elf.
Soon enough, Vereesa drew her bow, the arrow tip instantly glowing with Arcane light, shining against the night coast along with two moons, looking somewhat poignant.
Watching this scene that might not be seen again in this lifetime, Jesse didn’t even feel like exploring why she had pulled the bow.
With a swoosh, the arrow was released, tracing a nearly straight path of faint purple light disappearing into the sea surface. The elf took off again to follow where the arrow landed, then splashed into the water with a thud.
After a moment of silence, she suddenly surfaced from the water, holding up a crab that looked bigger than a small lamb.
The arrow with Arcane light still shining attached to the crab’s body, making its shell shimmer with water light, very attractive.
"Jesse!" The elf shouted from afar, "Come quickly!"
Jesse and Greed looked at each other, took a gulp of water together, and ran in that direction.
