Chapter 564
by post_apiChapter 564: The Princess
"Darn, how could this be."
Vereesa, who had just stepped out, quickly retreated back and hid behind a rock.
Jesse wanted to ask if there was anything outside, but Vereesa saw he was about to speak, so she put a finger to her lips to signal silence. Then Jesse heard the cracking and splashing of claws outside.
A large white finned tail glided slowly past the opening of the cave, making dinosaur-like breathing sounds that faded away.
After the sound disappeared, Vereesa took a deep breath and dashed out of the cave, followed silently by others – cats and demons included.
Beyond this opening, lay another deep, damp cavern. There were more Wavethrashings wandering here, but they should disappear once inside deeper.
Compared to the dry caves, waterfalls, and sinkholes behind, this place was much more vibrant, filled with various shore plants, algae, vines, and small trees. Jesse had never seen plants like these anywhere else.
At the same time, the caves here were much wider and brighter than the tunnels before, it felt more like strolling through a deep valley than walking in caves.
Passing through a cave entrance, Jesse noticed several huge Diemetradons crouching in a distant depression, only showing their reddish-brown sails and part of their heads outside.
As they passed the entrance, one of the Diemetradons seemed to notice the outsiders passing by, but only moved its head towards them without making a sound or any other reaction.
They might be similar to the huge Snapjaws they saw above, just wild beasts living here, not overly controlled by Theradras or other magical forces.
What about the multi-headed serpents wandering outside?
Jesse couldn’t say for sure.
The group continued forward, following the direction of the water flow deep into the caves, and soon arrived at another vast sinkhole.
There were no vast lakes here, looking up, one after another shattered cliffs formed a series of overlapping steps all the way to the top where the sunlight was too dazzling to see clearly.
Suddenly, the sunlight dimmed.
Something covered the light source and made the entire pit dim.
"What’s going on?" Greed muttered quietly as he looked up.
Mosa bit Greed and pulled him aside, Vereesa saw Mosa’s actions and immediately dragged Jesse behind a nearby rock.
The four individuals on both sides exchanged glances, Jesse looked at Mosa’s expression, her eyes widened in fear, her thick lips trembling uncontrollably as if witnessing the end of the world.
Molofeel hid behind Jesse, even though in stealth mode, he could sense her body’s strength being inexplicably suppressed to the point where even her shadow was blurry.
The imp in the bag kept shaking uncontrollably, not even performing Phase Shift.
What are they afraid of… even Molofeel felt immense fear, a silence so terrifying from mind to body?
It’s the power of life… a life force so powerful that it caused the entire pit to boil!
Jesse watched as a curly plant next to the rocks suddenly sprouted a tender shoot, rapidly blossoming into a bone flower, red petals bursting violently from within, even trembling from the force.
The bare stone slabs under Jesse’s feet were now covered with lots of grass sprouting from the cracks, even climbing up his boots.
Mosa kept her eyes wide open, looking up as if waiting for something, or anticipating something. Jesse looked up again, and then he heard a loud rumbling sound.
It felt like a giant hammer hit the rock wall, causing the entire sinkhole to tremble.
Not just by Jesse’s feet, but also on the rock wall and higher up, the wild grass suddenly grew outwards dramatically, almost beyond normal growth – it could even be described as… expanding!
Watching as the trees and vines grew denser and more lush, their branches intertwining and extending outward, as if trying to fill up and seal the entire sinkhole… But it wasn’t these plants that blocked the sunlight.
Bang.
Another loud noise.
Jesse felt something move high above, like a huge rock wedged between the cliffs, falling slightly due to the vibration and getting stuck again in the next narrow gap.
With this second loud noise, a bit of sunlight trickled into the top of the sinkhole.
The beam of light pierced in, Jesse squinted and looked up to see some emerald green gems shimmering in the shadows of the canyon.
The shadow swayed, more light shone in, making the whole pit brighter, revealing the true form of the giant creature that was previously hidden by the shadow.
Jesse saw a terrifying face.
It was an evil face like a statue, bloated and swollen, with stone muscles bulging and squeezing against each other, huge emerald boar-like teeth protruding high from the lips.
If there was anything more unsettling than this disgusting face, it was the fact that the huge head had two faces, one on the left side of the forehead and one on the right, like two swollen tumors protruding.
The two faces were blank and twisted, half-open mouths staring straight ahead, as if they had given up struggling and accepted the miserable fate of being bound to the ugly face behind them – that was Princess Theradras.
Her body hung like a fat stone ball in mid-air, using her four thick arms made of rubble and six limbs in total to support the walls of the cave, her glowing, rich green eyes filled with overflowing life energy staring intently at the bottom of the pit.
Different from the game model, Theradras wore no clothes, completely exposed, and unlike the skin surface in the game filled with abrupt boulders, the real her was adorned with various sizes and shapes of green gems all over her body, although not as densely packed, her irregular distribution of gems made one’s scalp tingle just by looking at her.
But the physical disgust brought by this appearance was nothing compared to the oppressive force emanating from the true form of Theradras.
Mosa looked confused and curled up next to Greed. Her tail tightly wrapped around Dwarf’s mouth. Greed was pale, but Jesse wasn’t sure if it was because he couldn’t breathe or because he was afraid of the elemental lord above.
Has Theradras noticed the people hiding here?
Jesse didn’t know. He never expected to meet the Stone Princess here. He thought there was still some way to go before reaching Zaetar’s tomb.
Theradras shouldn’t have left her deceased husband. However, she understood that using in-game settings, models, levels, or anything from the game wasn’t the right way to understand things here.
Suddenly, the entire crater shook again.
