    Chapter 557: Satyr’s Plan

After neatly organizing the peeled tattoos, they carried Vyletongue’s head back to the temple by the pool where it was now filled with demon bodies.

Looking at these bodies, Jesse thought that if Erlan Drudgemoor saw them, he would be thrilled. Collecting these skins and horns to sell could earn a few gold coins. The only regret was their lack of strength, even Mosa, who was already carrying a lot of things.

They could only hope that the Satyrs had hidden valuable items in the temple or clues related to Highborne that could fetch some reward from the Reliquary.

Following the sound of Vereesa and Mosa chatting deep in the temple, the three of them approached.

Remember in the game, inside this temple there was just one big empty hall, but here, there are quite a few side rooms with corridors connecting them.

Inside these halls and rooms, there were many decorations in the Highborne style. You could see that the furniture was made from different materials, like they were collected from different elven ruins outside and placed here. Was Vyletongue really planning to decorate this place as his own palace, reminiscing about the time of the Kaldorei Empire?

"Come over here, Jesse. Vereesa’s voice came from inside."

Jesse followed the voice and saw Vereesa and Mosa standing in front of a stone bookshelf filled with various books. Even he could sense that many of them still had traces of magic on them, probably enchanted to protect the books from time erosion.

However, all these books were written in Elvish, most likely made by the Highborne.

"Is this magic… enchanted by Dethmoora?" Jesse asked. "Is this what you felt before, the magic traces?"

"No," Vereesa said. "The enchantments on these books seem to be different from Dethmoora’s, at least not related to her."

Jesse asked, "Then what are these books about?"

"Ancient relics of the Kaldorei, artifacts, collections…" Vereesa said. "Vyletongue collected these books, probably preparing for gathering artifacts for himself."

At that moment, Mosa walked over from another room carrying a magical box. Inside the box, there was something enchanted that Jesse couldn’t feel the effects of.

Mosa said something to Vereesa, who shook her head and then told Jesse, "The magic of this box doesn’t match this dagger."

"This box was sealed by magic by the Satyrs here, master," Molofeel said.

Vereesa said, "The chaotic magic in this temple is interfering with my magic trace detection a bit, maybe I still have more to learn."

"Let’s each search around here a bit, find everything suspicious, and show it to you one by one," Greed said.

Vereesa nodded, and Jesse said, "Let’s see what’s inside this box first, okay?"

"How do we open it?" Greed asked.

"I’ll try to dispel the magic on top," Vereesa said. She closed her eyes and, with a faint sound of Arcane, her magic clashed disharmoniously with the enchantment on the box.

"It’s very difficult," she said helplessly.

"Let’s just open it! Since we can’t find the key, whatever important things inside won’t be useful anyway!" Greed swung the electrified war hammer towards the box, making a terrible sound that echoed through the hall.

The magic of the box couldn’t withstand the powerful blow, and it opened up, spilling its contents all over the floor.

Wow… it’s actually a pile of Soul Shards!

The souls inside… are likely the spirits of Centaur heroes from different eras, which is the real reason why the Centaurs outside despise demons.

Jesse could sense the wild, chaotic nature of these fragments, feeling the urge to break free from their cages as the silent howls of the souls echoed around him when Greed smashed open the box.

"What do these Satyrs want to do with these souls?" Jesse asked.

"They need so many Soul Shards… it must be for some powerful summoning ritual, master," imp said.

Jesse remembered the chaotic meteor unleashed by the souls on the battlefield near the Dark Portal, whispering softly, "Perhaps it’s some kind of terrifying magic that requires these souls."

"We need more clues," Greed said. "Just relying on these Soulstone fragments won’t help us figure anything out. I’ll go search elsewhere now."

"Vereesa, look at these books… see if you can find any patterns," Jesse said.

    "I know," Vereesa nodded.

"You two, go look for the materials for Demonic," Jesse instructed the two demons.

"Over there," Vereesa pointed to the room on the other side of the hallway, saying, "There are some scrolls and books that Mosa and I couldn’t understand, probably related to Demonic."

"Thank you for the guidance, Quel’dorai," Molofeel said insincerely, then left the room with the imp.

Vereesa uncomfortably gritted her teeth, staring at Jesse and asked, "Is this another one of your strange orders?"

Jesse rubbed his temples, sighed lightly and said, "She just likes to make me uncomfortable, to see me suffer, fits her idea of a Sayaad."

Vereesa walked to the next bookshelf, picked up a book and flipped through it, saying, "But I’ve worked with annoying people before on missions, it’s nothing, I can handle it."

As she said this, her tone seemed more like she was trying to convince herself.

"After all, these qualities are necessary for someone who is a Farstrider. In the future, I will need to cooperate with numerous members of the Magus group or those priests who believe in the Holy Light. You know, the Magus group, how they feel about Farstriders…"

Vereesa suddenly stopped talking and then muttered to herself, "Wait, why are there so many books about the magic of Eldre’Thalas on this bookshelf?"

"The magic of Eldre’Thalas?" Jesse asked, "What is it?"

Vereesa put down the book in her hand, checked the books on the shelf again, and suddenly realized, "All these books on the shelf are about studying the city of Eldre’Thalas, not specific magic spells, but the magical protective array of the whole city… the distribution of magic towers, Ley Line Nodes, magic prisons…"

When Vereesa mentioned this, Jesse suddenly remembered the Satyrs hidden in the depths of the Dire Maul dungeon in the game.

Yes, the place later called "Dire Maul," which is part of the city of Eldre’Thalas, was overtaken by demons in the game, but Jesse wasn’t sure when they entered.

"You mentioned demons in Eldre’Thalas before," Jesse asked Vereesa, "According to information from the Reliquary, are there Satyrs in that ancient city?"

"There are signs that the Kaldorei in Eldre’Thalas have summoned demons, that is for sure," Vereesa said. "But after investigations by other mages before, there have been no traces of Satyrs there, at least according to the information provided by the Reliquary."

"So, do these Satyrs here want to attack Eldre’Thalas?" Jesse muttered to himself.

Vereesa said, "As far as I know, the mages from Quel’Thalas were investigating the powerful magic in Eldre’Thalas, they were too scared to get close to the city walls and could only search by following the traces of magic coming from inside. So, are these demons here really planning to attack that sealed city directly? I am very doubtful."

Clearly, both the Satyr here and the Reliquary from Quel’Thalas, don’t know much about the current situation of that city.

Eldre’Thalas has been on the brink of collapse in recent decades. The Highborne inside can no longer sustain themselves and are on the verge of collapse and madness. Otherwise, a group of Ogres that came by sea wouldn’t have quickly taken over most of the city.

"Let’s search again, and also check over with Greed and others…" Jesse touched the stack of enchanted parchment scrolls on the bookshelf and said, "Tell me how to spell the Elvish language for Eldre’Thalas and Satyr, I’ll help you find them together, things shouldn’t be this simple."

    Vereesa nodded at Jesse.
