Chapter 533
by post_apiChapter 533: Hunting Together
Seeing the Thunder Lizard about to breathe lightning towards him, Greed quickly ran away, trying to find a rock to hide behind.
Jesse took advantage of the Thunder Lizard focusing on Greed, and started chanting the Fireball spell. He waved his hand in the dry air, gathering fire element at the tip of his magic wand, while estimating the distance between himself and the Thunder Lizard to see if he could throw the Fireball far enough.
But just as he was thinking this, before the fireball had grown much, the Thunder Lizard seemed to sense the mage’s magic incantation.
The rapid gathering of elements clearly ignited its rage, as it swiftly turned around and aimed the gathered electricity towards them!
In the moment when Jesse and the Thunder Lizard locked eyes, he felt his blood boil and his body heat up.
His arm was now covered in red Mageweave, this was the Blood Pact… Could the imp still remember it could do magic?!
With the imp’s magical protection, Jesse felt confident and even sensed the succubus moving closer to the Thunder Lizard…
Suddenly, Molofeel appeared on top of the Thunder Lizard’s head. A black dagger stabbed diagonally into its thunderous throat. The Thunder Lizard coughed violently, causing the electric energy that was about to strike Jesse to scatter chaotically, creating a sky full of lightning and explosions of white light.
Some of the lightning struck towards Jesse but didn’t cause any substantial harm.
Throughout the process, Jesse didn’t stop chanting the Fireball spell. In a moment, he finished reciting the spell and conjured a ball of intense flames at the top of his magic wand, radiating high temperature without any dark shadowy forces mixed in.
Of course, he would never use Shadow Magic to taint the team’s food.
The bright flames flew towards the Thunder Lizard, dragging out clumps of black mud that exploded, hitting the lizard’s back. Several bone plates on its back shattered, scales and flesh were blown up, causing the Thunder Lizard to stumble and cough, almost losing its balance while trying to bite the succubus.
The agile succubus couldn’t be easily caught by such a giant monster and had long disappeared.
However, the Thunder Lizard’s bulky body, even with broken bone plates and a wound on its back, didn’t seem to slow down its movements.
Greed suddenly emerged from a nearby bush, surrounded by the winds of Natural Magic, howling as he swung a stone axe, striking the Thunder Lizard’s neck and causing a bloody wound that made the Thunder Lizard spit out blood.
Just as the Thunder Lizard turned its head to bite the dwarf, another Arcane arrow flew over and pierced the same eye!
The second arrow went in deep, seeming to hit the Thunder Lizard’s head. The Thunder Lizard looked confused and tried hard to stay standing, but kept almost falling down.
"It’s not doing well!" Vereesa stepped out of the bushes with her bow, aiming for the Thunder Lizard’s other eye, but she slowly relaxed the bowstring.
Greed stepped aside, while Mosa came a few meters away. Everyone watched as the Thunder Lizard stood shakily in place, visibly unable to attack anymore.
Just as Vereesa had said, the Thunder Lizard finally couldn’t hold on anymore. Before long, it collapsed on the slope, causing the ground to shake a bit.
Seeing the giant beast fall, Mosa chuckled contentedly and then excitedly said something.
Vereesa explained to the dwarf beside her, "Mosa said this is an old Thunder Lizard. In the Tauren tribe, a team of hunters that can kill such a powerful monster… consists of the most outstanding warriors. If we were Tauren, going back would surely earn us the respect of our people."
"Ha, will this earn the respect of the Tauren? Compared to that demon from Nethergarde, this guy is much weaker in size and strength!" Greed patted his chest and said, "I didn’t even use my full strength, and it still fell!"
When the dwarf mentioned the Pit Lord, Vereesa glanced over at Jesse, who was catching his breath, and her smile faded slightly.
Mosa walked over to her, excitedly wanting Vereesa to translate the dwarf’s words. Vereesa briefly translated to her, maybe mentioning the battle with Pit Lord Azgath, causing the excitement on the Tauren’s faces to immediately change to surprise.
Looking at her admiring expression, she probably can’t wait to start learning the Dwarven language right away.
Obviously, Vereesa didn’t mention how Jesse executed that Pit Lord.
After all, if she did, she would have to describe that magic. The terrifying method of merging souls and dark powers together would be hard to explain in front of the Tauren.
However, Jesse didn’t seem to mind.
Greed patted the Thunder Lizard’s thick scales heavily and said, "Now we should have enough food reserves to cross the entire grassland, right?! I think the strong Mosa would be willing to help us carry more grilled meat!"
Vereesa relayed the dwarf’s words to Mosa, who was supporting the giant beast’s body. Mosa nodded continuously, while Vereesa looked over and said, "It’s up to the two of us to start the fire for grilling meat."
"No problem," Jesse said.
Although he couldn’t create food spells, the skills he learned from the Wizard’s Sanctum for creating water or starting fires still made him a qualified logistics person in the team.
At that moment, Molofeel appeared behind Jesse, handing him a pale purple fragment containing a powerful soul, saying, "This is the soul of the elemental beast, master!"
"Is it time for me to have it, master, is it time for me to have it?!" Saenor stared at the Soul Shard.
"Of course." Jesse handed Saenor the Soulstone and said, "You released a Blood Pact for me in such an urgent situation, take this Soulstone and make good use of the energy inside."
The succubus said unhappily, "Even if that beast really hurts the master, my Soul Link is enough to protect him from serious harm…"
"Bah, your abilities have been useless as well, after all the master will not be touched by that fool!" imp grumbled, "In any case, after so long, there is finally a reward! The soul of this big monstrous creature is really fierce, master, I can even feel it wanting to break out from within! Ah, the master is becoming stronger, I have finally received better rewards too, but if we could get hold of Pit Lord Azgath’s soul and devour it, then that would be…"
"He’s gone crazy." Molofeel said disdainfully.
Greed and Mosa couldn’t wait to start cutting meat from the Thunder Lizard with Vereesa’s knife. Greed sighed, "Ah, it’s such a big beast, we can’t eat much of it, the leftovers will go to waste."
Vereesa said, "It won’t go to waste, look up."
Jesse looked up and saw a group of red-headed, black-tailed vultures circling in the dim sky. They may have been following this old Thunder Lizard for a long time.
