Chapter 532: More Than One Type of Giant Beast on the Grassland

Although Jesse had a rough idea, seeing the giant beast’s droppings still surprised him.

This pile of dark brown giant object was sitting alone on the grassland. If it didn’t emit a wild fecal stench when approached, he might have mistaken it for a nest of some giant insect similar to white ants.

Like the Qiraji that migrated here…

Jesse curiously found himself thinking about the task given by Ursula.

Honestly speaking, before coming to Kalimdor, Jesse had a feeling that there would be strange bugs from Silithus desert all over the south of The Barrens, deep in Feralas Jungle, and to the west of Tanaris Desert, based on his impressions from the game. He thought they should be easy to find.

But once he arrived here, just the journey itself was tiring enough. As he looked across the barren grasslands, searching for Silithid bugs, he felt like he was looking for a needle in a haystack.

I wonder how much Mosa knows about Qiraji.

He glanced over at the Tauren and saw Mosa staring solemnly at the huge pile of dung, seemingly lost in thought.

"Do Kodo eat meat too? I remember in Gadgetzan, the goblins fed Kodo hay." Greed mused, "Isn’t this pile of dung a bit too smelly for a herbivore on the grassland?"

"Even herbivores eat some meat sometimes." Jesse tried to explain, "Monsters like the Kodo may occasionally indulge in a small animal, right?"

    Mosa grumbled, "Not a Kodo."

She spoke to Vereesa for a while, then Vereesa told Jesse and Greed, "It’s a different kind of beast that can release thunder…"

    Thunder Lizard?

If Mosa hadn’t mentioned it, Jesse would have almost forgotten about the fierce Thunder Lizards in The Barrens.

"Get the Nature Protection Potion ready, Greed," Jesse said.

"Oh, right," Greed rummaged through the pack as Mosa ran off into the distance, waving his hand for them to follow.

Are we really going to face a Thunder Lizard?

Jesse couldn’t help but take a deep breath, never imagining he would see a Thunder Lizard in this world.

Clearly, Greed was also quite excited, probably intrigued by the concept of a "thundering beast" being unleashed.

Following Mosa Woodmane’s lead, they dashed through the grasslands in search of the giant beast’s trail, finally arriving at a dried-up ancient riverbed covered in tall grass by the afternoon.

The Tauren slowed down, found a spot to crouch, made a quiet gesture to the few people following behind, and listened intently.

As things quieted down, the only sound around was the wind. Before long, Jesse indeed heard some indistinct noises, like a faint "meh" or "hm."

Mosa bent down and lowered her head until the grass around her covered her head, listening carefully. The rumbling sound was getting louder and Jesse could even feel the ground trembling.

    The unknown giant beast’s footsteps.

Now, the footsteps were getting farther away. Greed took the axe off his back, held it tightly in both hands, and stared in the direction of the footsteps, licking his lips nervously.

Mosa glanced at him, then slowly raised her head to look up. Jesse couldn’t resist looking up as well and saw in the lower part of the river, several huge dark purple bone plates swaying back and forth slowly moving away.

It was indeed a Thunder Lizard!

It was a gigantic creature resembling a long-necked dinosaur, but with a much stronger head and limbs.

Many Tauren believed they were distant relatives of Kodo, or even a powerful type of Kodo that controlled lightning. However, there were significant differences between the two species, in terms of their bone spikes, armored scales, and habits.

Unlike Kodo which moved in herds, Thunder Lizards preferred to be solitary.

"Greed, Vereesa, Jesse." Mosa called out quietly, picking up her wooden staff and pointing in the direction the bone plates were heading. "Let’s go!"

Vereesa nodded, and Greed couldn’t wait any longer. He immediately picked up his axe and charged forward.

"Drink the Nature Protection Potion, Greed! The thunder released by this creature is real thunder," Jesse reminded quietly.

    "I remember this time!"

Greed ran while quickly drinking a potion and casually putting the bottle into his bag, then slid down the slope of the river. Soon, the bottle was out of sight, with only the swaying grass gradually moving further away.

"Oh no," Jesse exclaimed, holding his magic wand as he ran as fast as he could to catch up with Greed. Vereesa and Mosa were already far ahead, and Jesse was definitely the slowest in the group this time.

After all, the others were either Tauren Hunters, Elf Rangers, or energetic Dwarf Gryphon Riders. Being a spellcaster, Jesse was a bit slower… It’s just that warlocks have short legs, after all.

After running for a while, a loud and menacing hiss came from the front, sounding like a series of thunder on the grassland… The Thunder Lizard must have sensed the group surrounding it!

Jesse pushed through the tall grass that was almost as tall as him, and suddenly heard a crackling sound of electricity. Bursting out from the grass were flashes of lightning, culminating in a deafening roar and blinding white light that left Jesse feeling like he was surrounded by darkness.

Just as Jesse regained his senses, a surge of arcane energy flew through the top of the grass and headed straight ahead, leaving behind a purple fire burning the grass stems. Black smoke rose everywhere ahead, the Thunder Lizard roared continuously, its footsteps echoing thunderously…

Jesse tapped his ear and ran up, pushed aside the swaying black shadow, and saw the huge monster in front of him.

The Thunder Lizard was mostly bluish-green in color, looked very old, about four meters tall and five to six meters long, with a row of bony plates on its back releasing bursts of electricity.

One of its eyes had been blinded by an arrow still blinking with arcane light, raging like a giant wild beast out of control. When Jesse approached, it was charging straight towards them. Mosa pushed Jesse aside just in time, preventing Jesse from being hit and thrown away the moment he appeared.

The Thunder Lizard rushed deep into the river, swaying its tail with four huge bony spikes, while Greed in a smoky cloak chased after it past Jesse.

Jesse got up and grabbed the magic wand, while Mosa had already stood up, chanting a spell for natural healing magic towards the dwarf. A cool breeze began to swirl around her hands and drifted off into the distance.

Greed clearly took a hit from the lightning just now, but now he ran towards the Thunder Lizard as if nothing had happened.

With the Druid’s natural healing, everything should be fine.

The huge lizard sensed the dwarf approaching, turned around, and swept its tail. Greed easily dodged the sweep by lowering his head and then took a step forward, grabbed the axe, and chopped at the giant beast’s hind leg.

The Thunder Lizard whimpered, took a step to the side, and fixed its gaze on the dwarf, with terrifying sparks flashing in its mouth again.

"Oh no, here we go again!"
