Chapter 530
by post_apiChapter 530: Razor Mountain
In that cave, Jesse thought that Tauren was a Druid apprentice learning healing magic, especially when she looked fragile facing the three Centaurs, Jesse didn’t expect much from her in terms of fighting ability.
However, she turned out to be a well-trained fighter.
Watching Mosa Woodmane fight bravely and fiercely, she battled with the leading Quilboar warrior unarmed, saw the Quilboar about to give in, pushed him off the cliff with a hoof, when the next one with an axe rushed at her, she grabbed his neck with her long arms, and took the axe from him.
With one hand, Mosa threw him off the cliff, and with the other hand, she wielded the axe she had taken, smashing it fiercely at the Quilboar behind her who held a shield, the clanging sound of the smashing was so intense that it made one shiver.
Originally brave and bold, the Quilboar facing this two-meter-tall monster was a bit scared, a Quilboar from afar picked up a short bow and was about to aim at Mosa in the front, but Vereesa shot an arrow through his skull first, making him stiffen and fall over.
The elf was careful with her arrows, only shooting at the most significant threats, after all, she had limited arrows, and shooting from the cliff meant she couldn’t retrieve them.
The Quilboar were already hesitating, not knowing when Molofeel appeared behind the group of Quilboar, emerging from the shadows, her black blade already piercing through one Quilboar’s neck!
A piercing howl from behind made the remaining Quilboar panic, feeling trapped in the middle, they looked around frantically unable to handle enemies on both sides, swiftly being chopped down one by one by Mosa in the front.
The battle on the pathway started suddenly and ended just as suddenly. The Quilboar fell down, defeated, and soon the valley became quiet, with only the distant echo of the Quilboar’s sad cries remaining.
The succubus wiped the Quilboar’s blood off the blade with her fingers, dried it a little, then sniffed lightly, showing a look of disgust.
Mosa stared at the demon, her expression turning complex. Vereesa spoke some words to her in Elvish, then said, "More Quilboar could arrive at any time… We need to hurry along the path…"
Mosa walked past the demon and headed upwards. When she passed Molofeel, Jesse even worried a bit that she might throw the demon down like she did with the Quilboar.
The sounds of the Quilboar echoed throughout the valley. The group no longer cared much about the safety of the pathway and hurried on upwards.
Upon reaching the top, the cliff was covered with huge thorns everywhere.
Even on the high mountains of the Hinterlands or in the troll-inhabited Stranglethorn on the Eastern Continent, Jesse had never seen such massive thorny vines that were as thick as tree trunks.
The thorns above were as thick as pointed wooden stakes, giving him the feeling that these thorns were likely meant to fend off creatures as large as Kodo. Mosa glanced at the thorns, waved her hand signaling them not to take the pathway, and pointed upwards towards the thorns, indicating they should go that way.
Jesse looked up at the higher cliffs and then at the huge intertwined thorns…
According to the game’s memory, this thorn-covered mountain range is likely the Quilboar’s holy land – Razorfen Downs.
Would it be easier to crawl through the thorns than to walk on the boardwalk?
However, he hesitated for a moment but had to follow as Mosa was the true native here.
Sure enough, not long after they deviated from the boardwalk, a group of about a dozen Quilboar came down. They chased each other along the boardwalk, arguing with each other as they went.
Mosa immediately led three people to hide quietly in the dark cover of the thicket. They waited for the Quilboar to run down and disappear before continuing up the thicket.
"I can’t remember the last time I missed my wings, Master," Molofeel complained softly.
"So, do you want them to grow back now?" Saenor asked.
Molofeel glanced at the imp but didn’t reply. The dwarf chuckled and said to Jesse, "She said that, and I don’t even think she looks like a demon."
Vereesa turned back and made a hushing gesture, whispering, "There are Quilboar around, don’t let your guard down, Greed!"
Greed scratched his beard and said, "Kill as many as they come, these brainless monsters dared to attack me with arrows!"
Led by Mosa, the group gradually climbed higher and higher. They could see the thorny cliff becoming less steep as they seemed to have finally reached the top of the precipice.
After climbing continuously for so long, Jesse felt his shoulders extremely sore and his hands almost giving out. Despite living in Stormwind for many years, he hadn’t really practiced rock climbing. If it wasn’t for the help of the black dragon blood, he would probably have lagged behind the others by now.
Now, Jesse was even hoping for a Quilboar to suddenly appear and use Life Drain to replenish his strength.
Not only him, but Vereesa and Greed also seemed a bit unaccustomed, watching Mosa ahead while trying to catch their breath.
The hunter who was covered in injuries a few days ago was now almost fine, even more energetic and enduring than the others.
Mosa clearly led them to a direction that was not easily noticed by the Quilboar, all the way to the top of the cliff. Looking into the depths of the stone forest from here, they could already see the uneven tops of the stone pillars amidst the mist.
There were some remnants of buildings on a nearby stone pillar, or totem poles and such. On the edge, there was a broken suspension bridge hanging in mid-air, and Jesse couldn’t tell if anyone still lived there.
After a short rest in a dense thorn forest, the group found themselves in a dark area where the thorns blocked out the sun completely. They huddled together in a corner, surrounded by silence as if it were a real night.
Mosa told Vereesa something, then Vereesa turned to the others and said, "We have arrived at Agama’gor!"
"I can tell." Greed wrinkled his nose and said, "The air is full of the foul smell of Quilboar. Could we have walked into their old home?"
Vereesa said, "Mosa mentioned the upper part of the path is taken by Quilboar, so we can only go this way. Trust her, the path she led us on so far has been fine."
Jesse said, "We are lucky to have met her. Otherwise, the three of us wouldn’t have known when we could find a way up in this spooky place!"
Vereesa said something to Mosa, who nodded and relaxed against the thick thorn bushes behind her.
After talking to the Tauren, the elf turned to Jesse and said, "Let’s wait here until evening, then leave after the Quilboar have relaxed a bit, so we can rest and have some food."
"I have to say, this cow is really strong," Greed whispered.
"Cow?" Jesse asked.
"Lady," Greed quickly corrected, "Tauren Lady."
