Chapter 526
by post_apiChapter 526: Direct Expression
After walking north for a while, Vereesa looked at Jesse with a complex expression and said, "I know that during the War of the Ancients, Tauren and Kaldorei were allies for a long time, they fought against demons and their summoners together at that time, so…"
"I know," Jesse said, "I’m not complaining about anything, after encountering that Tauren’s attitude before, I had some expectations for other Taurens, just surprised to meet a Druid."
"Tauren Druid, I’m not sure either," Vereesa said, "In Quel’Thalas, there are not many records about Tauren, maybe I missed them."
"Hey, can you feel it, that guy is following us," Greed whispered.
Vereesa sighed softly and said, "I feel it too. He must know that if he leaves us, the Centaurs will find and kill him again."
Jesse glanced back at the path among the stone pillars, but did not see the Tauren’s figure.
"Should we leave some medicine?" asked Greed.
Jesse said to Vereesa, "I think that Tauren seems to be friendly to you, Vereesa. Why don’t you go back and check on him?"
"Alright then!"
Vereesa went back with a Healing Potion. Soon, the voice of an elf came from there, "Hey, you two, the Tauren has fainted!"
Jesse and Greed immediately ran back and saw the Tauren leaning his head, rolling his eyes, and his consciousness seemed to be fading.
Vereesa tried to support him, but this two-meter tall guy was way too heavy, especially with that giant exaggerated cow head.
Just as Jesse was about to take the potion from Vereesa’s hand, the Tauren seemed to sense something and looked a bit frightened. Greed said, "Don’t get too close, don’t scare him, let me do it instead."
Jesse reluctantly nodded and watched as the dwarf took the elf’s Healing Potion and gave it to the Tauren to drink.
"Let’s stay back a bit," he said, turning to Molofeel.
"Hah, fragile shapeshifter," murmured the succubus softly.
After drinking the potion, it was a while before Tauren mumbled a few unclear words, which, unsurprisingly, nobody could understand.
"This Tauren doesn’t understand the common language; he must not be from Gadgetzan," Vereesa said.
"Maybe he can help guide us," Greed suggested. "He may not like us, but since we saved his life, he should at least help us a bit. I think it’s fair to ask for some directions."
"I was thinking the same thing," Vereesa said, looking up at the towering cliffs. "The terrain here is complex and unfamiliar; finding our way is not going to be straightforward."
"But how do we communicate with him?" Jesse wondered aloud, taking out a map from his bag. "Let’s see if this Druid can understand us."
Just then, Tauren opened his eyes, looked at the elf, muttered a few words, and then said, "Sha’ha… Lumah…"
Upon hearing those words, Vereesa widened her eyes in surprise.
"What?" Jesse looked at the Tauren and the elf and asked, "Do you understand what this Tauren is saying?"
Vereesa looked at Jesse and said, "She is blessing us."
"Why didn’t you mention earlier that you understand the Tauren language?" Greed asked.
The elf quickly explained, "I don’t speak their language, she is speaking the Kaldorei language! Wait, no, this is not Kaldorei language… I know, it’s the Sayaad Language here… It should be expressing gratitude or something."
"She? Did you say she?" Jesse asked, "Are you sure this Tauren is a female?"
Vereesa said, "Because one of the blessing words in that sentence is used by females, if she didn’t understand this usage… she wouldn’t have said it intentionally."
"Anyway, at least there’s a way for us to communicate properly now," Greed said.
"Then ask her where she comes from," Jesse said.
Vereesa talked with Tauren for a while, then said, "She said she is from a Tauren tribe called Woodmane, and she is the only one left. Many of her family members are missing from wars or died at the hands of enemies. I guess the enemies she mentioned are probably the Centaur."
"Maybe it’s other Tauren," Greed said.
"I’m not sure either," Vereesa said.
Greed asked again, "Can we say that if we don’t save her tribe, they will be completely finished?"
"I think so," Vereesa said.
"Mosa," Tauren pointed to herself.
"Is that her name?" Jesse asked.
"Mosa?" Greed called out, and Tauren nodded at him.
"Ask her about the Druids," Jesse reminded.
Vereesa talked with a Tauren named Mosa Woodmane and then told Jesse and Greed, "She said she’s not a Druid but a hunter. She learned some Druid magic from her grandmother many years ago. Her grandmother passed away a long time ago, so she didn’t learn much. If she couldn’t turn into a big cat to survive, she would have been killed with the rest of her tribe a long time ago."
Jesse nodded and guessed that the Tauren’s Druid ways might have been lost during the war with the Centaur, then rebuilt with the Night Elves.
In that case, the ones they saved might be among the last Tauren who know Druid magic.
"That’s a big cat?" Greed said. "This Tauren turning into a cat is even bigger than the mountain lions in Alterac."
After hearing Greed’s words, the Tauren asked Vereesa something. Vereesa told her, and Jesse asked, "What did she say?"
"She just wanted to know what Greed was saying," Vereesa said. "I told her exactly, and she told me that there are many lions on the northern plains."
Jesse immediately said, "Right, ask her about what we just talked about and see if she can be our guide. We are heading to the northern plains."
Vereesa nodded and explained everything in Elvish.
The Tauren thought for a moment, said a few things to Greed, and Vereesa’s expression changed suddenly.
Jesse asked cautiously, "What did she say?"
Vereesa shook her head, spoke in Elvish, and then the Tauren repeated what she had just said.
The elf hesitated before saying, "I’m not sure what she really means… but she thinks the dwarf is a good person, she likes him a lot, so she’s willing to help us."
"Haha," Greed chuckled satisfactorily and said, "I knew not every Tauren is blind!"
Jesse thought Vereesa’s expression was a bit strange, so he couldn’t help but ask, "Who likes what?"
Vereesa glanced at Jesse and whispered, "It’s that one, the one who likes!"
"So straightforward?" Jesse asked again.
"I guess if it were in the Tauren’s own language, it would probably be even more straightforward," the elf said with a bitter smile.
This time, Greed couldn’t laugh.
