Chapter 378 An Easy Victory
by SurroundedbyBooksMu Yun Su waved her hand, and the five core disciples of the major sects stepped forward, quickly occupying the arenas on the Yixian Platform.
Yen Wujiu gave them a faint glance, then said calmly,
“Let it begin.”
Mu Yun Su’s brows furrowed. While Tianqing Sacred Land was allowed to station defenders first, that didn’t guarantee an advantage. If the demon and evil cultivators played dirty—matching the strong against the weak—then their side might suffer heavy losses in the very first round.
For example, if Fan Chen avoided Duo Mingzi and chose a weaker opponent instead of Chen Fei, it would be hard to defend the arena.
But what surprised Mu Yun Su and the others was that Fan Chen did not avoid Duo Mingzi.
As soon as Yen Wujiu gave the signal, Fan Chen leapt onto the Yixian Platform—heading directly toward Duo Mingzi.
This deliberate challenge made several elders’ expressions shift.
This wasn’t just a battle—it was psychological warfare.
Fan Chen looked up at Duo Mingzi with a smile.
“Senior Brother Duo, I’ve long heard of your skill. Please, enlighten me.”
Duo Mingzi squinted—clearly aware that Fan Chen was provoking him on purpose.
“Very well. Let’s see what tricks the favorite disciple of the Yan Sect has up his sleeve!”
Duo Mingzi had long been irritated that Chen Fei had stolen the limelight. Though he couldn’t express that displeasure openly (since Chen Fei had helped their sect regain its reputation), now was the perfect time to show everyone his own strength.
Fan Chen didn’t waste any more words. With a flick of his finger, black-red energy swirled around his fingertip and then whipped outward—transforming into countless flying blades hurtling toward Duo Mingzi.
Sparks exploded on the platform floor. Duo Mingzi dodged, counterattacking as he moved.
“That’s Senior Brother Duo’s Hidden Sword Style! I haven’t seen him fight in over ten years!”
“His energy is solid. Looks like he’s not far from breaking into the Earth Phase!”
Tianqing disciples sighed in relief. As the sect’s number one senior brother, Duo Mingzi’s strength was unquestionable. It was just that he hadn’t fought in years, and many had forgotten what he was truly capable of.
Fan Chen vs. Duo Mingzi would clearly be a long and drawn-out battle.
Meanwhile, the demon and evil cultivators began leaping into the other arenas to claim their spots.
But something strange occurred.
No one challenged Chen Fei on Arena 8.
“…What’s going on?” Tian Zhen frowned and turned to the others behind him.
The usually silent and stiff Tian Qi responded calmly,
“Pity Nine Yao got there first. Otherwise, we could’ve let the Nine-Tailed try.”
“Li Gangqi!” Tian Zhen snapped, displeased. “You’re still not the demon emperor!”
Tian Qi turned to meet his gaze with a stony expression, the tension between them palpable.
It was obvious: internal strife among the demons was deeper than it appeared. But they had no choice but to work together—for now—because of the Ghost King Order.
Yen Wujiu cast them a brief glance but didn’t intervene.
Things were getting complicated. Letting the demon factions implode early would ruin the plan. So he reluctantly spoke:
“Xiyu, go.”
A woman slowly stepped out from the crowd. Her name was Xiyu. She glanced at the untouched Arena 8, snorted lightly, and leapt onto the Yixian Platform.
Chen Fei was picking at his ear, visibly bored.
“Finally, someone shows up.”
He smiled brightly at the woman who now stood before him.
Her skin was pale as snow—her presence alone gave off a cold, eerie aura.
“Arrogant!” Xiyu snapped. She flicked her finger, and suddenly, a thin layer of water appeared on the floor.
The water leapt into the air—transforming into countless silk threads.
A web of razor-sharp water threads filled the arena.
Chen Fei, however, remained calm. He even poked at one of the threads curiously.
“This? That’s it?”
Xiyu’s pupils contracted.
She knew Chen Fei’s strength, which was why she went all-out immediately. In her Water Domain, she could exert well over 100% of her true power!
“You’ll know soon enough!” she snapped, her fingers forming a complex series of seals.
The floating threads began to move—slicing toward Chen Fei from all directions.
Despite his relaxed face, Chen Fei’s eyes narrowed. This attack was genuinely deadly. If he got caught in that thread net, whether he’d be shredded into ribbons or diced into chunks would depend entirely on her whim.
But Chen Fei didn’t sit still.
With a flick of his finger, his Wufeng Greatsword shot off the ground—hurtling toward Xiyu under his control.
“Heh.” Xiyu sneered.
“Water Serpent Dance!”
From beneath the arena, two massive water serpents surged upward—twisting toward the greatsword with open jaws.
Sparks flew as the sword clashed against the serpents, their watery bodies momentarily shielding Xiyu.
Seeing this, she smirked.
“Looks like your attacks aren’t much after all.”
“Oh really?” Chen Fei grinned. Then his finger traced a circle in the air.
“Douzhuan—Turning the Heavens!”
The Wufeng sword followed his motion, spinning violently.
Sword energy burst forth like arrows, riddling the serpents with holes.
And he wasn’t done yet.
His fingers shifted again.
“Xingyi—Shifting the Stars!”
This time, it wasn’t the sword that moved—it was Chen Fei himself.
In the blink of an eye, he appeared right in front of Xiyu.
To let someone who had overpowered the Skyhorn Bull’s bloodline-enhanced charge get close?
That was suicide.
Xiyu’s instincts kicked in. Her body collapsed into a splash of water, exploding into droplets across the ground.
But Chen Fei didn’t care.
He stomped down on the water pool.
BOOM!
The puddle detonated.
“Sever!” Xiyu’s voice rang from behind him.
The thread net reappeared, already wrapped tightly around him.
Clearly, her decoy and counterattack had been precisely planned.
But instead of panicking, Chen Fei simply turned and smiled at her.
That smile unnerved her.
Her instincts screamed something was wrong. She tried to strike again—
But her arm was suddenly seized.
“You’re not the only one who knows evasion techniques.” Chen Fei’s grip tightened.
She tried to escape using water-based teleportation, but it was too late.
His energy locked her in place.
Then came the fist.
A devastating punch smashed into her head.
CRACK! Her skull exploded.
But Chen Fei frowned slightly.
The body he held disintegrated—just another decoy.
A wave of icy energy followed as Xiyu reformed in the distance.
But her aura was weak—she could no longer continue fighting.
