Chapter 341 Dragged in as a Temp Worker
by SurroundedbyBooksAfter planning his escape route, Chen Fei gave Qu’a, the Saint Ancestor, a cold glance.
“There won’t be a next time.”
With that, he stepped out from the Purple Clarity Palace.
Qu’a’s face twisted with fury—he, a dignified Earth Dao cultivator, was being so thoroughly humiliated and threatened!
If he ever escaped, he vowed he’d never let Chen Fei off the hook.
Meanwhile, Brute just smiled as he watched him.
“Your expression is priceless. Keep going—it’s making me laugh.”
Qu’a’s vision darkened. These two brats from Heavenly Apex Holy Land were infuriating—one more annoying than the other!
“You should be more worried about yourself,” Qu’a sneered. “Forcing your Qi like that…your meridians are shattered. Even if you live, you’ll never advance again.”
“But I cut you down,” Brute grinned.
“Your sword Qi is gone. All your cultivation is lost. Was it worth it?”
“But I cut you down.”
Qu’a’s face began to distort in rage. Finally, he just huffed and turned away, ignoring him.
Brute kept smiling, lifting his head to enjoy the view inside the Purple Clarity Palace.
Back in the ice-cold cave, Chen Fei was deep in thought.
Given his current options, the safest plan was to pretend to be a demonic cultivator and blend in.
Thankfully, his only goal was to escape and get the message out, which simplified things.
After going over all possible contingencies, he began moving swiftly through the winding tunnels, following the map Qu’a had provided.
The demonic sects had clearly taken this operation very seriously—they had stationed guards at nearly every major intersection.
Still, most of these outer guards were only Yuan Realm cultivators.
Chen Fei, as a Myriad Realm expert in disguise, could likely walk past them without trouble.
Taking a deep breath, he stepped out of the shadows.
“Who goes there?!”
A demonic guard immediately spun around, alert.
Chen Fei gave him a cold glance and nodded.
“Sharp senses. Not bad.”
“Thank you for the praise, my lord!”
The guard straightened up quickly, though his eyes still showed a bit of doubt as he studied Chen Fei.
This was a major flaw of demonic sects—
When they worked together in large numbers, no one really knew who was who.
The only way to judge rank was by power.
Chen Fei released a bit of his Myriad Realm aura, and the guard’s attitude immediately became more respectful.
Chen Fei let out a quiet sigh of relief. His plan was working.
“Keep watch. I’m heading elsewhere to inspect the perimeter.”
As he turned to leave, the guard suddenly spoke again.
“Wait, my lord!”
Chen Fei tensed, but kept his composure, turning back with a look of mild annoyance.
“What is it?”
“Forgive me, my lord. A message just came through—there’s been a disturbance in the restriction array. All Myriad Realm experts have been summoned. You may have missed the notice while patrolling.”
Chen Fei’s heart sank.
Just his luck.
If not for this, he’d already be just a few dozen meters from the exit.
He had two options:
Kill the guard, then try to sneak out.
Or play along, risking a deeper infiltration.
Killing might work, but the area might be watched by other guards, and a corpse could give him away.
A flicker of cold light passed through his eyes.
The guard felt it and regretted opening his mouth.
If this “senior” was displeased, he could be dead in an instant.
“I wasn’t aware of that. I’ll head there now.”
Chen Fei stepped forward and clapped the guard on the shoulder.
At the same time, his spiritual sense surged into the man’s mind.
The guard’s eyes turned glassy in an instant.
“What exactly happened?”
Chen Fei needed to confirm this wasn’t a trap.
“I don’t know the details. But a wave of cold erupted earlier. The higher-ups ordered all Myriad Realm experts to help stabilize the restriction array,” the guard said, dazed.
Chen Fei narrowed his eyes.
So the disturbance was real.
Still, going in meant greater danger—but skipping it might leave him blind to their next moves.
Just then, another surge of freezing air burst out from deeper inside.
“Ahhh!!”
“What’s happening?!”
Screams rang out.
Chen Fei looked toward the source and saw two Yuan Realm cultivators get instantly frozen into ice statues, then shatter moments later.
The icy wind rolled toward him. He quickly dodged aside.
The guard he had controlled had just regained awareness, only to be hit by the cold.
He froze and shattered before he could say a word.
Chen Fei had never seen such overwhelmingly tyrannical cold before.
Even with his Qi protecting him, he was trembling from the chill.
“Damn it…”
Suddenly, two more Myriad Realm demonic cultivators appeared and approached quickly.
“You’ve got guts—trying to block that cold wave head-on!”
They recognized Chen Fei’s Saint Sect uniform, but seemed surprised.
“You’re from the Saint Sect? You look unfamiliar. What are you doing here?”
Chen Fei glanced at them calmly.
The outfit he wore was taken from one of Tao Jing Immortal’s subordinates, and could easily pass for a Saint Sect elite.
“The cold struck suddenly. I tried to save them… but was a step too late,” he said, sighing.
Normally, such a line might be suspicious—but not for a Saint Sect disciple.
“No need to blame yourself, sir. Their fate was sealed. You should head to the restriction array. Lord Nangong is furious—if you’re late, he won’t go easy on you!”
“Yeah! This array’s going haywire for no reason. What a cursed thing!”
Chen Fei sighed.
There was no backing out now. He had to go deeper.
Luckily, the two cultivators didn’t question him further.
They chatted while escorting him through several checkpoints, eventually reaching the core of the restriction array.
The deeper they went, the more disturbed Chen Fei became.
To rescue the sealed demon, the demonic sects had truly gone all-in.
Just on this one path, Chen Fei saw over thirty Yuan Realm cultivators.
This was just one branch of the cave system.
How many had they mobilized overall?
How did Heavenly Apex Holy Land miss all of this?
Chen Fei’s expression grew darker.
Upon reaching the array, he immediately spotted the familiar androgynous man from before—Nangong Ye.
Facing away from them, the man was shouting:
“Useless trash! Can’t even manage something this simple? If this happens again, I’ll deal with it myself!”
Then he turned and barked:
“What are you standing around for? Get in position and power the array!”
Before Chen Fei could react, he was pushed into one of the formation nodes.
With no choice, he sat cross-legged and began channeling demonic energy into the formation…
Unwillingly pulled in—as a temporary laborer for the demonic sect!
