Chapter 336 Reinforcements Arrive
by SurroundedbyBooksChen Fei’s aura suddenly shifted, as if he had fully merged with the surrounding space.
Gripping his Edgeless Greatsword in both hands, he swung down gently.
It looked like an ordinary slash—
But it tore a massive rift straight through the darkened sky.
Amu’s expression changed drastically.
Above them, 32 of the 128 floating prayer beads exploded at once, dyeing the gloomy sky an eerie red.
And it didn’t stop there.
The jade-white skull suspended in midair let out a screech, its soul flames flaring violently in its eye sockets.
A massive surge of divine consciousness blasted into Chen Fei’s sea of awareness, stirring up monstrous waves as it tried to interrupt his sword strike.
But just as the spiritual impact entered his mind, the Void Heaven Cauldron appeared and effortlessly nullified the intrusion.
A cold gleam flickered in Chen Fei’s eyes as his sword collided with the brute’s massive cudgel—seemingly without force.
BOOM!
An enormous shockwave burst out from the point of contact.
It was so intense that it forced A’Duo—the hidden assassin—into visibility.
Wearing a mask that only exposed his eyes, A’Duo was momentarily dazed by the backlash.
Then—terror.
Chen Fei had already appeared before him.
“Die,” Chen Fei said simply.
No wasted breath.
His fist smashed toward A’Duo’s skull.
The assassin instinctively jerked his head to dodge—
But his body froze in place as lightning crackled through him.
CRACK!
Chen Fei’s punch landed square on his head.
It shattered like a ripe watermelon, blood and bone spraying in all directions.
“A’Duo!” Amu screamed, horrified.
She had never expected Chen Fei’s target to be the weakest among them.
With a single punch, A’Duo’s soul was obliterated.
But it didn’t stop there.
The massive cudgel that had clashed with the greatsword shattered completely—
a master-crafted artifact forged by over a hundred weapon artisans, now reduced to scrap.
And with it, the brute’s Dao Heart also shattered.
He stood stunned, unable to process what had just happened.
By the time Amu’s scream reached him, the Edgeless Greatsword was already in front of him.
“Qi of Mountains and Rivers!”
He crossed his arms over his chest, blood energy roaring through him. His muscles tensed as red light surged from beneath his feet, wrapping his entire body.
Just then, the sword came down.
But Chen Fei didn’t even glance in that direction—
Instead, he turned to punch behind him.
A crimson cyclone enveloped him.
In mere moments, thin slashes appeared across his body.
Worse still—blood-red threads extended from each wound, their other ends gripped by Gu Mu.
Wearing a mask, Gu Mu’s expression was unreadable, but Chen Fei imagined the man was smiling smugly.
Before he could react, the numbness returned—stronger this time.
The Void Heaven Cauldron trembled but failed to shake it off.
“Bind!” Gu Mu growled.
His fingers danced, and the blood threads shuddered in rhythm.
Chen Fei’s face darkened.
BOOM!
The brute was blasted away like a kite with a severed string, smashing into a cliff wall with a sickening crunch.
He made no further sound.
Amu trembled with rage.
Her eyes locked coldly on Chen Fei.
“Impressive. A core disciple of the Heavenly Apex Holy Land truly lives up to the name!”
Gu Mu yanked hard, causing Chen Fei to stagger.
Chen Fei hadn’t expected the Thread Control Technique to be so troublesome.
Gu Mu was slippery, never giving him a real chance to retaliate. That was why he’d chosen to eliminate A’Duo and the brute first.
But the current situation was grim.
Though he’d killed two of their elites, he was still restrained and surrounded by the Boundless Formation.
If this dragged on—
He quickly assessed his options.
At this point, he could only try to forcibly wrest back control over his body from the puppet strings—but launching a counterattack under such conditions would be difficult.
Amu stepped forward.
Having seen Chen Fei’s prowess firsthand, she understood how dangerous he was.
But with two allies already dead and Gu Mu binding him, this was their best shot at subduing him.
“Hand over Holy Maiden A-Yue, or don’t blame me for what happens next!”
She gestured, and the jade-like skull floated to her palm.
The emerald flames within flared, and another spiritual assault surged toward Chen Fei’s mind.
Despite the dire circumstances, Chen Fei still had a trump card:
The Purple Purity Palace.
If thrown hard enough, it could serve as a powerful weapon.
He just needed Amu to get closer.
But she was cautious.
Maintaining distance, she gave him no openings.
“Speak. Where is Holy Maiden A-Yue? If you comply, you won’t have to suffer unnecessarily.”
She glanced at Gu Mu.
Gu Mu jerked his arm upward.
Chen Fei’s body jerked violently, moving uncontrollably.
At the same time, the skull opened its mouth with a screech.
Another wave of spiritual power surged into Chen Fei’s consciousness.
His head felt like it would explode.
The Void Heaven Cauldron shielded his sea of awareness just in time, allowing him to slowly recover.
He took a deep breath.
No more waiting. Time to gamble.
Just as he was about to strike—
“Knew it was you, brat!”
A familiar, mocking voice rang out.
“Brute?” Chen Fei blinked in surprise and turned his head.
To his shock—his body was no longer bound.
Brute was walking into the formation like it was a stroll in the park.
Sword in arms, he looked up at Gu Mu and grinned:
“You little bastard. You snuck up on me last time. Ever think about the consequences?”
“You dare speak, loser? I’ll kill you!” Gu Mu snapped.
Threads whipped toward Brute.
Brute just smirked.
“Didn’t anyone tell you? Never use the same trick on me twice.”
A red glow shimmered around him.
Without any visible movement, sword light erupted, shredding the threads instantly.
Gu Mu’s eyes narrowed.
Brute bared his teeth in a wicked grin.
“Still don’t get it, do you?”
Gu Mu’s face changed, vanishing in an instant.
Where he had stood, a blood-colored longsword appeared—still sheathed, yet pulsing with terrifying energy.
“Damn, this thing’s screeching is unbearable.” Chen Fei muttered.
Free from the puppet strings, he reached out and grabbed the jade skull.
The green soul flames surged, engulfing the skull.
But Chen Fei didn’t even flinch, holding it tightly.
He looked up at Amu and smirked:
“Looks like your plan’s falling apart.”
With Brute’s arrival, Chen Fei’s heart finally settled.
He might not have seen Brute’s true strength before, but now—
the tides had turned.
