Chapter 320: A Clean Sweep
by SurroundedbyBooks“Junior Brother Chen, you’ve only just entered the Sacred Land. It’s wise to leave yourself a way out. I’m not one to push things too far—thirty thousand contribution points will do.”
Gu Chengfeng tossed out his identity token with a smile.
His words were slick—offering both flattery and condescension in one breath.
But Chen Fei didn’t care much for that.
Thirty thousand contribution points were still a gain. After all, small streams make big rivers.
“Thank you for the match, Senior Brother Gu.”
With a light tap of his foot, Chen Fei sent the bladeless greatsword arcing in a half-circle toward Gu Chengfeng.
Gu Chengfeng was clearly prepared.
“Haha, what a rare chance! Go all out, Junior Brother!”
To the crowd, this looked magnanimous—like a seasoned senior giving the junior his best. A charming image of a generous, noble brother.
But in Chen Fei’s mind, only one word described him: fake.
He darted forward, catching up to the airborne greatsword, grabbed its hilt, and spun his body.
The bladeless greatsword became a sweeping blur, slashing toward Gu Chengfeng.
“That speed won’t be enough, Junior Brother!” Gu Chengfeng chuckled.
His figure danced gracefully, navigating Chen Fei’s barrage like a leaf on water—untouched and unbothered.
There was no denying it: Gu Chengfeng’s strength exceeded Chen Fei’s in nearly every way.
Even so, Chen Fei never once faltered in his attacks.
“Impressive, Senior Brother!”
“What’s wrong? If you want to surrender, I won’t press the issue,” Gu Chengfeng said, a gleam of delight flashing in his eyes.
Chen Fei narrowed his gaze.
“Surrender? Senior Brother, if you surrender now, I’ll let you go with dignity. What do you say?”
The crowd exploded in uproar.
“This Chen Fei is out of his mind! He hasn’t even touched Gu Chengfeng and he’s already bragging about giving him a way out?”
“So arrogant! Senior Brother Gu, stop holding back—some people really need to be taught a lesson!”
Jeers filled the air, especially from the numerous female disciples, who were fiercely loyal to Gu Chengfeng—dressed in white, always poised like a scholar.
“Gu Chengfeng is so popular… look at that! The guy’s practically a celebrity.”
“He’s at the peak of the Mystic Realm—even if he used some tricks to get there, Chen Fei has no chance.”
Gu Chengfeng waved at the swooning crowd of fangirls, basking in cheers and flying kisses.
“Wouldn’t it be better to show some dignity, Junior Brother?” he said, striking a dramatic pose.
But then it happened.
From the shadows beneath Gu Chengfeng’s feet, a dark figure shot upward, lunging straight at him.
His expression twisted in shock. Gone was the graceful form—now he looked downright scrappy trying to block the ambush.
The moment his hand touched the shadow, he shouted,
“Damn it!”
Lightning erupted.
Chen Fei’s Ten Thousand Path Techniques had always been about fusion—and now that fusion included elemental transitions at will. He no longer needed the Void Cauldron to convert sigils. Since his last enlightenment, his strikes had become fluid and adaptable.
Gu Chengfeng hadn’t anticipated this. His body locked up as the lightning coursed through him.
And then—Chen Fei was already above him, greatsword raised high.
“Void Breaker!”
The sword came crashing down.
Gu Chengfeng’s white robe shattered in a burst of energy. He was slammed into the plaza with a thunderous crash, breaking several stone tiles. He looked utterly wrecked.
At this moment, the disciplinary ward patrol appeared—like cats who smelled fresh fish.
But Chen Fei smiled calmly and pointed to his banner in the distance.
“This was a new recruit’s challenge. I’m exempt under the rules!”
Knowledge is power.
Chen Fei had memorized every rule that his senior, Wang Feng, had drilled into him. Every fine he had suffered in the past left a scar on his heart—and those scars ensured he’d never forget again.
“Relax, Senior Brother Chen. We know the rules. The fines will go to Senior Brother Gu,” the patrol said with a smile.
Of course they knew Chen Fei. Even though Wang Feng wasn’t currently with the patrol, his influence still loomed large—and Chen Fei had followed the rules to the letter.
Gu Chengfeng clutched his chest and staggered to his feet, face pale and trembling.
“Would you like to continue, Senior Brother?” Chen Fei asked cheerfully.
“N-no… That’s enough!” Gu Chengfeng waved his hand.
“I admit defeat!”
His female fan club rushed to his side, encircling him tightly.
“Senior Brother Gu, don’t stoop to his level! Are you hurt? I’ve got Nine Flower Jade Lotion—it works wonders!”
“No way! That’ll leave scars. Use my Ice Heart Powder—it’s better! Right, Senior Brother?”
Their chatter drowned out everything. Even the patrol officers couldn’t squeeze through the crowd—they just watched helplessly as Gu Chengfeng was escorted away.
Not that he could escape his fine. They’d deliver the bill later.
Chen Fei watched Gu Chengfeng being whisked away by a flock of adoring girls and shook his head.
Sure, Gu Chengfeng had lost—but how many people were jealous of his current position?
Chen Fei sat down on a nearby stone bench, placed his bladeless sword on the table, and spoke:
“Senior Brothers, since this is all about the Holy Son position, let’s stop beating around the bush.”
“I’m a direct person. I’ll be right here, waiting for challenges. If I lose, I’ll withdraw from the Holy Son competition without complaint.”
Then he closed his eyes and began meditating, completely ignoring the shocked faces around him.
Two simple sentences—but they sent shockwaves through the entire Heavenly Apex Sacred Land.
Everyone had known the challenges were about the Holy Son position. But no one had said it aloud.
Now that Chen Fei had called it out directly, anyone who challenged him from this point on would be labeled as coveting the Holy Son title.
Some things could be done, but not said—saying it out loud only invited political trouble.
And now, thanks to Chen Fei’s bold declaration, the atmosphere turned strangely cold.
Senior disciples usually challenged newcomers just to humble them a bit, to remind them that there was always someone stronger.
But now, the roles had reversed.
Chen Fei was openly challenging everyone.
And strangely… no one was stepping forward.
This strange situation quickly reached the ears of key players.
Elder Mu Yunsu was the first to hear about it. As soon as she heard Chen Fei had set up a challenge arena, she understood his intentions.
Clearly, the pressure of that massive contribution debt was bearing down on him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have taken such a bold, high-profile route.
Then again, if you weren’t bold…
Would you even deserve to be in the Heavenly Apex Sacred Land?
