Chapter 245: News of His Parents
by SurroundedbyBooksNo one wants to be treated like an object—tossed away at will.
Though Chen Fei had always insisted he didn’t care, deep down, the original owner of this body—perhaps even himself—had never stopped wondering why he had been abandoned.
The childhood of an orphan carries many shadows.
Chen Fei was no exception. He just never realized it until now. When Li Zhong finally explained everything, a weight lifted off his heart. It felt like a long-shut door inside him had finally opened.
“Don’t worry. I’ll get to the bottom of all this. Right now, I’m already the personal successor of the Sacred Land of Tianqing. Once I return, you’re coming with me,” Chen Fei said decisively.
Li Zhong beamed. “I knew it! Young Master is truly destined for greatness—born to be a dragon among men!”
“You’re flattering me well—how about saying a few more lines like that?” Chen Fei grinned.
Li Zhong gave him a strange look. “Young Master, you’ve changed! You weren’t like this before!”
Chen Fei burst into laughter. Seeing Li Zhong again lifted his spirits.
And now that he finally knew the truth of his origins, his mindset had elevated immensely.
“Don’t worry. Whoever’s behind all this—I’ll drag them out, one by one,” Chen Fei said coldly. “And I’ll start with Chen Tian. I’ll make him pay for what he did to you.”
When Chen Tian received word from the guards, he was visibly stunned.
“Chen Fei wants to challenge me? Him?” he repeated in disbelief.
The guard nodded. “Yes, that’s what Fifth Young Master said personally.”
“Fifth Young Master?” Chen Tian sneered. “You’ve all changed sides awfully fast. I bet in a few days, you’ll be calling him Patriarch. Really—whoever feeds you is your new master?”
The guard paled. “Young Master Tian, we wouldn’t dare!”
“Hmph.” Chen Tian snorted. “Fine. Tell Chen Fei—I accept. But if he loses, he better not cry.”
A cruel grin twisted across Chen Tian’s face.
After dismissing the guard, he made his way to the rear garden.
This was the Chen Family’s core residence. Normally, no one would disturb him here.
Chen Tian walked quickly toward a fake rock formation. After checking that no one was around, he tapped a stone twice. With a rumble, the rock shifted to reveal a hidden entrance.
He entered quickly, and the rock returned to its original form.
He descended a narrow, dark staircase until he reached the bottom.
Around a bend was a lavish underground palace.
However, the palace was now encased in thick layers of ice and snow.
In the center sat a still figure.
“Father, I’m back. Chen Fei… he challenged me,” Chen Tian said respectfully to the seated figure.
“Chen Fei carries a great secret. Don’t kill him. Wound him, and bring him to me,” came the deep reply.
No one would ever expect that Chen Xingyu—the once-lost and presumed-dead elder of the Chen Family—was still alive and hiding here, possessing a body in secret.
“Yes!” Chen Tian responded loudly. Then, glancing at the icy surroundings, he added, “Father, the millennium ice aura here is fading. Shall I fetch more for you?”
“No need. It’s of little use to me now.”
Chen Xingyu shook his head. “Do what you need to. Don’t worry about me.”
“Yes, Father.” Chen Tian bowed deeply and retreated.
After he left, Chen Xingyu’s body trembled.
Then—shockingly—a living man emerged from within his body.
This figure raised his head and inhaled deeply.
The icy energy of the palace was instantly absorbed into his body.
“As expected of the old ghost of the Chen Family. He must’ve sensed something… I can’t stay here much longer. Chen Fei…” the mysterious man muttered to himself.
Glancing disdainfully at Chen Xingyu’s now-empty body shell, he smirked with contempt.
The news of Chen Fei challenging Chen Tian spread throughout the Chen Family like wildfire.
Few knew much about Chen Fei. But everyone knew Chen Tian.
As the eldest heir of the main branch, Chen Tian had always had more resources than others—and his innate talent was also frightening.
His mastery of the Chen Family’s bloodline arts was unmatched.
On top of that, he had learned several Earth-grade martial techniques, making him a powerhouse even among Yuan Realm cultivators.
“Who even is this Chen Fei? Wasn’t he kicked out of the family?”
“You know the family rules. Even if someone was expelled, as long as he has Chen blood, he still counts. Based on his generation, calling him Fifth Young Master isn’t wrong.”
“Forget the titles. Who do you think will actually win this fight?”
A sharp question.
Under normal circumstances, no one would hesitate: Chen Tian would win without a doubt. His strength alone was unquestionable.
But Chen Fei?
He had shown up at the Ancestor’s side.
Anyone who could gain the Ancestor’s recognition couldn’t possibly be an ordinary person.
Even though the Chen Family was still dealing with inner chaos caused by Ancestor Chen Wansheng’s breakthrough, everyone was still eager for drama.
“Forget it. No point guessing. Once they start fighting, we’ll all know.”
Finally, someone said what everyone was thinking.
The next day, Chen Tian arrived early at the clan’s dueling arena.
Swaggering confidently, he sat in his personal seat.
“Young Master Tian, who is this Chen Fei really?”
“Yeah! Challenging you? He must have a death wish!”
Basking in their flattery, Chen Tian clearly enjoyed the praise.
He waved modestly, acting as if he were trying to be humble.
“He’s been living wild outside the clan for too long. Now that he’s returned, he’ll need to be taught how things work here.”
“We’ll just have to generously enlighten him,” Chen Tian said with a smirk, as if victory were already his.
“Of course, Young Master Tian! To be corrected by you is a blessing!”
“Let him learn the rules—he’ll thank you later!”
“Young Master Tian is so kind!”
Chen Tian’s smirk only grew wider.
As the sun rose higher, an hour passed. Finally, he began to lose patience.
“He’s not playing tricks on me, is he?”
He frowned and turned to the soldier who’d delivered the challenge.
“Explain yourself! What’s going on?”
“Truly, Young Master, I only repeated what the Fifth Young Master said. We also sent messengers to confirm!” the guard pleaded.
Chen Tian’s face darkened and he stood abruptly.
But just then, Chen Fei arrived.
With the massive, bladeless greatsword strapped to his back and Li Zhong following behind, Chen Fei walked steadily toward the arena.
His presence—calm yet imposing—immediately drew attention.
Even those who disliked him couldn’t help but whisper praise:
“What a striking appearance!”
“Such presence—he really looks like a true young master!”
