Chapter 236: Blood Sacrifice
by SurroundedbyBooksWhen Chen Fei stepped out of the secret realm, his spiritual sight instantly spread in all directions.
Strangely, he couldn’t sense the presence of any living beings. Instead, there was a faint scent of blood lingering in the air.
“Men die for wealth, birds die for food,” Chen Fei sighed softly.
For the entire Chen family’s secret realm to be filled with the stench of blood, one could only imagine how many had died here! But for cultivators, such is fate — and opportunity.
After all, which powerful cultivator hasn’t climbed out from a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood?
Only those who survive to the end are the true strong ones!
Chen Fei hesitated. At this moment, he still couldn’t confirm Qin Shuang’s location. It seemed he’d have to rely on luck.
Thankfully, there were many people from the Cloudrise Sect. If he asked around enough, he should get some useful information.
While Chen Fei was searching for Qin Shuang, the woman herself had already led a group of people toward the core of the Chen family’s ancestral land.
“Cloudrise Sect! You dare slaughter our sect members? If word of this gets out, you won’t die a good death!”
“Qi Meiniang, you half-man, half-woman freak! After this, we’ll wipe your entire group from existence!”
Qi Meiniang’s expression changed slightly at the insults but then chuckled coldly. “Only if you manage to live long enough to spread the word! Besides, do you really think the Chen family is just going to sit back and do nothing?”
She looked at the group with disdain. They deserved to be chosen as sacrifices — blinded by greed, unable to see the danger behind the rewards. If not them, then who should die?
“It’s almost time.” A sense of unease flashed through Qin Shuang’s heart as she looked ahead at the resisting demonic cultivators. Her Three-Pupil Spirit Eye began to rotate.
Those cultivators immediately felt the world flip upside down, their bodies suddenly light, their perception disoriented. They froze.
The Cloudrise Sect had long been waiting for this chance. While the enemy was dazed, they struck without hesitation, piercing them through on the spot!
The blood quickly soaked into the earth and was absorbed completely. Even the corpses vanished without a trace.
“It’s almost here!” Qin Shuang looked up at the sky.
With the Three-Pupil Spirit Eye, she could clearly see a massive blood beast taking shape!
This was her goal: the Blood Soul Beast!
Others might never imagine that the Chen family had raised such a vicious monster in their ancestral land. Why call it vicious? Because it fed on blood souls! Though the Chen family kept a low profile in the Great Wilderness Dynasty, every year they performed blood sacrifices — and their victims were ordinary people!
The corner of Qin Shuang’s mouth curved into a mocking smile.
A noble clan? Just a facade. When it came to cruelty, the Chen family was worse than Cloudrise Sect — they simply hid it better.
“Fools, all of them. Now it’s time for us to strip the Chen family of its hypocritical mask!” her eyes gleamed with scorn.
Qi Meiniang laughed in agreement, “It’s long overdue! Only then will more people join our Holy Sect — and we’ll finally stand equal to these self-righteous bastards!”
Qin Shuang nodded without responding and led her people to hunt down the remaining demonic cultivators.
Suddenly, Chen Fei stopped walking and looked up at the sky.
Though it appeared to be just thick layers of cloud, he could feel something terrifying beginning to awaken!
“No… this is… a ritual!” Chen Fei finally understood why the air was filled with faint traces of blood!
“Open!” Golden light burst from his eyes.
What he saw made his pupils shrink in shock.
Above the clouds lay a massive, grotesque blood-colored beast. Its limbs were shackled by dark red chains. With each breath, strands of blood qi were pulled into its body!
“What in the world is that thing?!” He could feel its overwhelming power — it definitely surpassed the Heaven Dao Realm!
Under the nourishment of blood, the beast’s form was becoming more solid. If this continued, it would fully awaken soon!
“What is the Cloudrise Sect planning?!” Chen Fei was stunned. The Chen family’s early retreat was also suspicious.
Did they not know about this blood beast inside their ancestral land?
Or perhaps… this was part of their plan from the beginning?
Maybe this was a “gift” prepared for all invaders — once the beast awakened, it would massacre everyone inside the Chen family’s domain.
It was possible. After all, the beast was shackled, meaning it was likely contained — until now.
Just as Chen Fei’s mind reeled from the implications, a familiar sensation hit him.
His eyes flashed with hatred: “Qin Shuang!”
That face appeared in his mind — the memory of her stabbing him with a dagger, laughing maniacally inches from his face. A nightmare burned into his soul.
And now, finally, they would meet again.
The Three-Pupil Spirit Eye belonged to him.
Now that he could sense it, she couldn’t be far.
Qin Shuang suddenly felt her heartbeat quicken — and not in a good way.
She took a deep breath, eyes fixed ahead at the mist — the depths of the Chen family’s ancestral land. Something felt wrong.
“Stop!” she ordered sharply.
Qi Meiniang frowned. “Elder Qin, what’s wrong?”
Qin Shuang didn’t answer. Her eyes were locked on the fog ahead.
A lone figure emerged, walking steadily, carrying a massive sword on his back. His very presence was heavy, oppressive.
Step by step, he came closer, without the slightest pause.
When Qin Shuang saw his face clearly, a flicker of fear crossed her eyes.
“You… you’re not dead!”
Chen Fei raised his head, a mocking smile on his lips. “That’s right. I’m not dead. Surprised to see me here?”
Qi Meiniang glanced at the stunned Qin Shuang, then at the furious Chen Fei. “You… know each other?”
“Know her?” Chen Fei laughed coldly. “Oh, I know her very well.”
Though his mouth smiled, his eyes were as cold as a frozen winter storm, sending a chill down everyone’s spine.
Qin Shuang took a deep breath, forcing herself to regain composure.
“I didn’t expect to see you here. I’ll admit I’m surprised. You’re still alive… and you dare show your face to me?”
She raised her arms and unleashed her power without restraint.
“Feel that? That’s what I gained after leaving you behind! With you, I was only held back!”
She looked at him with madness and pride, her eyes full of disdain.
But Chen Fei’s gaze drifted down — to her lower abdomen.
He had to admit, Qin Shuang still had a great figure. Even pregnant, she looked slim and fragile.
But the clear bump in her belly made his expression complicated.
Qin Shuang noticed his gaze and instinctively placed a hand on her stomach.
“Of course. This useless thing is also a burden — just like you!”
That was the final straw. Chen Fei’s eyes turned razor-sharp.
“Bitch! Say that again if you dare!”
