Chapter 219: Petty Tricks

These words strung together delivered an even greater shock to everyone present.
Qin Heng strode forward quickly, visibly excited. “Brother Chen, I didn’t expect you to come!”
But just as he spoke, his expression changed.
It wasn’t just Qin Heng—everyone nearby felt a chilling aura that made them instinctively take a step back.
It was obvious—the cold aura came from the woman standing behind Chen Fei.
“This is the Holy Maiden of the Sacred Sect, Lady Leng Yue,” Chen Fei quickly introduced.
Perhaps due to these people being Chen Fei’s friends, Leng Yue gave a slight nod, though the cold aura around her remained unchanged.
Faced with so many people, Leng Yue clearly felt a bit uncomfortable. To put it bluntly, if not for Chen Fei, none of these people would even be qualified to see her.
“I need a quiet place,” Leng Yue said, her voice laced with frost, making everyone lower their heads instinctively, unable to meet her gaze.
“I’ll take you there right away!” Han Lingshuang immediately stepped forward.
Leng Yue nodded slightly. She was curious about Chen Fei’s relationships, but she wasn’t suited for crowded scenes like this. In any case, if she wanted to learn more, it would be effortless with her abilities.
“Thank you,” Leng Yue said after a moment’s thought, addressing Han Lingshuang directly.
Even Chen Fei was surprised and glanced at her.
Han Lingshuang was even more flustered, quickly replying, “It’s my duty! This way, Holy Maiden!”
Once Leng Yue left the hall, everyone unconsciously let out a breath of relief.
Sealed into the wall earlier, Feng Zhou finally slid down. Though he looked miserable, his internal qi and blood were still surging, and he had to forcefully suppress it.
“Brother Qin, I’ve already heard about the situation—thank you for what you did in Huangwu City.” Chen Fei cupped his hands respectfully toward Qin Heng.
A trace of guilt crossed Qin Heng’s face. “To be honest, we did save most of Huangwu City’s people, but… we let Li Zhong get captured. I’ve let you down, Brother Chen.”
“We’ll talk about that later,” Chen Fei said. That was one of the main reasons he’d come, but now wasn’t the time to discuss it.
“You’re the Seventh Elder, right?” Chen Fei turned his attention to Feng Zhou.
Feng Zhou looked at him warily. Anyone who could throw a weapon so casually and send him flying was clearly no ordinary young man.
“Yes,” Feng Zhou replied solemnly.
Chen Fei tilted his head. “Do you know why Qinling acted that way toward Huangwu City?”
“I do,” Feng Zhou said after a pause.
Chen Fei nodded. “At least you’re honest. Do you know why I didn’t kill you? Because you did fight the demonic cultivators. It’s understandable you hold resentment, and I played a part in what happened. I won’t blame you.”
“But… you judged people poorly. You were manipulated, sold out, and still proud of yourself. That’s just stupidity,” Chen Fei added with disdain.
Feng Zhou looked up at Chen Fei in confusion. “What do you mean?”
Chen Fei didn’t look at him but stared into the crowd, fixing his gaze on an unremarkable middle-aged man. “What’s wrong? Still trying to hide at this point?”
The middle-aged man met Chen Fei’s sharp gaze calmly. “As expected of a Holy Land disciple. You actually recognized me.”
“Huang Cheng?! You—” Feng Zhou turned toward the man in shock.
Huang Cheng let out a mocking laugh. “I had hoped to conserve some effort, but you showed up so soon. What a pity.”
Shaking his head, Huang Cheng suddenly grabbed a nearby Qinling Elder. Before the elder could react, a powerful surge of qi and blood enveloped them both.
In an instant, before anyone could respond, the two were reduced to dried corpses—drained by the overwhelming force.
“Qi Devouring Realm!” Feng Zhou immediately recognized the technique, his face filled with horror.
Huang Cheng looked up and grinned at Chen Fei. “I was planning to enjoy myself a bit more, but since you found me, I guess I’ll just feast on you all.”
As his voice dropped, the previously clear sky turned blood red. The white tiles beneath their feet morphed into a pool of blood.
People instinctively backed away, but the blood kept rising. If it continued, the outcome was easy to imagine.
Ignoring the crowd, Huang Cheng looked directly at Chen Fei. “I didn’t expect this harvest—capturing a Holy Maiden and you? Jackpot!”
He shook his hand, and a blood-red war flag appeared. As it flapped, the blood waters churned violently.
“I thought Holy Land people were more difficult. Turns out you’ve forgotten what danger even means!”
With that, the flag vanished, instantly locking onto Leng Yue’s location.
A smug look spread across Huang Cheng’s face as he spread his arms. “See? This is the price of stupidity. Now, shall we have a little talk?”
He licked his lips, eyes filled with greed. “Do you know how much your head is worth? A sixth-grade Blood Spirit Pill! That alone requires a sacrifice of a hundred-thousand-strong city! And that’s not even counting the rewards from the sect master!”
Huang Cheng burst into laughter, unable to contain his glee.
He felt like the luckiest man alive—two big fish walked right into his trap!
He wasn’t worried about Leng Yue’s strength. That war flag had been bestowed upon him by the Bloodcloud Sect Master himself. Not even a Dao Realm expert could escape it, let alone a mere Enlightenment Realm cultivator.
He could already see himself rising steadily within the sect’s ranks.
Chen Fei finally spoke. “Are you done talking?”
“What, still planning to resist?” Huang Cheng sneered at him. “If you’d run earlier, I might not have caught you. But now… things are out of your hands!”
He raised his hand, and the calm blood pool boiled violently.
Two blood beasts emerged from it, reeking of rot and blood, lunging straight for Chen Fei.
Chen Fei stood calmly, arms folded and leaning on his massive sword, relaxed and unworried.
Even as the beasts lunged, he didn’t move an inch.
“Courting death!” Huang Cheng’s face darkened, and he changed his hand seal. The beasts were instantly covered in sharp blood-red spikes.
“Petty tricks.” Chen Fei shook his head in disdain.
Perhaps it was due to cultivating the Heart-Linking Scripture, but he saw right through the core of this illusionary attack. And once he saw through the illusion, it held no threat at all.
“Break!”
With a flick of his finger, a burst of energy shot out, creating a sonic boom as it struck the blood beast.
Pop!
Like bursting a bubble, the beast shattered instantly into a splash of blood, returning to the pool beneath.
