Chapter 191: The True Essence
by SurroundedbyBooksInside the Immortal Melody Secret Realm.
Chen Fei gazed at the giant python before him with a sense of awe, but he quickly noticed something off.
Not only was the python covered with layers of golden talismans, but a dark red glow flickered from within its body!
Every time that glow pulsed, the python’s skin would visibly shrink and wither—clearly, its blood essence was being drained!
“Could this be a seal? No… something’s not right!” Chen Fei studied the talismans wrapped around the python and, after a brief hesitation, made his move.
“Senior Brother Chen!” Dong Feng’s heart nearly stopped as he saw Chen Fei step forward toward the python.
Isn’t the most logical response right now to run for your life?
Why the hell is Chen Fei walking toward the beast?! Is he that desperate for the Heavenly River Star Sand Water?
Unless… could it be that Chen Fei plans to fight it one-on-one?
The very thought made Dong Feng chuckle nervously. “Senior Brother Chen is really something… still thinking about treasure at a time like this—wait, what the hell?!”
His eyes widened in shock.
What he saw was Chen Fei calmly taking the Heavenly River Star Sand Water and then summoning his Martial Spirit—a massive cauldron—which he slammed straight toward the python!
Sure, Chen Fei’s Martial Spirit was a giant cauldron, but wasn’t that kind of attack a little too crude? More importantly, why attack the python now? Isn’t that just asking for death?
The giant python, which had had its eyes closed, suddenly opened them wide, raising its head and locking its furious gaze on Chen Fei.
“Insolent ant! You dare provoke me!” the python roared, speaking in human language, its rage unmistakable.
Chen Fei sneered. “I was just curious how long you were planning to pretend to be asleep. Unless… you’d like to chalk all this up to a misunderstanding?”
The python responded with a furious roar. In that moment, its body tensed, and the golden talismans on it lit up, forming glowing chains of golden light that bound it even tighter.
“Damn it! DAMN IT ALL!” The python thrashed and struggled, but beneath the golden talismans, a layer of dark red light subtly weakened it further.
Chen Fei had already stepped back the moment the python stirred, widening the distance between them.
The python’s reaction only confirmed his suspicions.
“So it is sealed. With that kind of restriction, its strength should be no more than the early Demonic Core realm,” Chen Fei thought, excitement gleaming in his eyes.
The blood essence of a Demonic Core realm beast—how many merit points would that cost to buy? At least ten thousand, right?
“Senior Brother Chen, now that it’s trapped, let’s get out of here while we still can!” Dong Feng whispered nervously, feeling like his heart couldn’t take much more.
But Chen Fei shook his head. “Leave? No way.”
As the saying goes, man dies for wealth, bird dies for food. How could Chen Fei let this opportunity slip by? Why the python was imprisoned in this secret realm didn’t concern him! Nobody said he couldn’t kill the sealed Demonic Core beasts here.
Worst case? A scolding. No big deal!
But giving up this chance to boost his strength? He’d go insane!
The python gathered green energy in its mouth and launched bolts of green lightning toward Chen Fei.
Yet Chen Fei moved with uncanny agility. No matter how fast the lightning was, it always missed him by a fraction. Not even a thread of his clothing was touched.
This was the power of Spiritual Vision.
Even Dong Feng was stunned. This is supposed to be Dao Realm? You’re telling me this guy is just Dao Realm?
Despite facing a Demonic Core realm beast, Chen Fei was completely unfazed.
And the python—enraged—forgot something critical: the Void Heaven Cauldron wasn’t just for show!
As it prepared to launch another attack, Chen Fei activated the Void Heaven Cauldron.
“What the hell is this thing?!” the python roared as it felt a powerful suction force from above. With its massive body, it couldn’t even see what was draining its power so rapidly!
Fatigue hit it like a wave. The golden talismans binding it glowed brighter, further weakening it.
“Despicable human! If I ever get free, I’ll slaughter your entire clan!” the python bellowed, violently twisting its body in an attempt to break the seal.
But Chen Fei just smirked at the threat.
Even if the python escaped, what could it do? In front of Su Ran, even her maidservants were in the Human Path Realm. A mere Demonic Core beast running its mouth like this—what a joke!
Chen Fei sighed softly. “This is the true beginning of my journey.”
With that, he shot forward like a cannonball straight at the python.
The beast’s eyes gleamed with cunning—it thought it had fooled him!
Despite the seal and the suction draining its strength, it still had some fight left. Chen Fei’s reckless charge? Suicide!
But what the python didn’t notice was the subtle hand seal forming in Chen Fei’s hand—a tiny fire symbol appeared, barely visible.
“Haha! Foolish human, you’ll pay for your stupidity!” the python laughed wildly as Chen Fei closed the distance.
At that moment, Chen Fei pressed the fire seal right on the python’s weak spot—its seventh inch.
BOOM!
The python exploded into two halves, with no time to even struggle.
It looked stunned, even as it was blown apart—Wait, why can I see my own intestines…?
“Absorb!” Chen Fei didn’t waste a second. His body was soaked in green fluid, but thanks to the Spirit Pool Liquid he’d used earlier to strengthen his body, his flesh remained intact. Otherwise, the corrosive venom would’ve melted him into a skeleton!
The Void Heaven Cauldron went into overdrive. The python shriveled before their eyes.
Spirit energy surged into Chen Fei’s body, refined and pure.
The cauldron even pulled in the python’s internal organs—and a green gallbladder.
There was no time to examine it now. The refined energy flowed smoothly through Chen Fei, and the venom that once corroded flesh now had no effect on him.
“Seems like I’ve developed some resistance to toxins,” Chen Fei nodded with satisfaction and recalled the Void Heaven Cauldron.
“Junior Brother Dong, since you witnessed everything, you deserve a share. The python’s scales and skin should still be useful—enough to earn some merit,” Chen Fei said with a smile.
Dong Feng shook his head. “I didn’t do anything to help. I don’t have the face to take any of it.”
Chen Fei narrowed his eyes. “Don’t worry, Junior Brother. You won’t be taking it for free. This situation is far more complicated than it looks. You must keep it a secret. If word gets out that we killed a beast sealed by the Sacred Land, neither of us will be able to bear the consequences.”
