Volume 2 Chapter 20
by Need_More_SleepVolume 2 + Chapter 20: Aquarium
As soon as the two of them stepped onto the street, they drew the attention of passersby, causing many to stop and stare. Seeing the exceptionally attractive pair, everyone began buzzing with comments, some saying they were models on a runway, others claiming they were filming a movie, and all sorts of speculations were thrown around.
“That girl is just too cute!” At that moment, many men in the vicinity found themselves captivated by Ouyang Qianxue’s beauty. Some even risked angering their girlfriends or wives just to steal a few glances.
Being stared at by countless eyes made Ouyang Qianxue feel uneasy. Since his safety shorts had been swapped for women’s underwear by Wang Qian, he was terrified that if he wasn’t careful, others might notice the “unusual aspects” that set him apart from ordinary girls.
At that moment, Ouyang Qianxue couldn’t help but imagine the scenario of being exposed as a cross-dresser in public.
“Mom, that older brother over there is a boy just like me, so why is he wearing a skirt?”
“Because that’s what you call a pervert. Remember to stay away from people like that in the future.” A mother and daughter on the side of the road looked at him with disgusted expressions, as if he were trash.
“So it’s a cross-dressing pervert, how gross.” Everyone around stared at him with the same contemptuous look as the mother and daughter.
Before he could recover from their scornful gazes, his phone suddenly rang in his pocket.
“Hey, Qianxue, what’s going on? Did you really expose your gender on the commercial street? Do you realize that your secret, that you’re a boy, has already spread to the school?”
“How could this happen?” Panicked, Ouyang Qianxue hurried back to school.
“Hey, is that him?”
“Yeah, the gross guy who dresses like a girl.” Students at the school all looked at him with disdainful eyes. Just then, his phone rang again. The caller was none other than the name he feared most, Wang Shiman.
“Qianxue, I heard you messed things up? You’re useless. I must have been blind. From today on, you have nothing to do with me. Figure out your mother’s medical bills and your sister’s tuition on your own.” With that, Wang Shiman hung up, leaving Ouyang Qianxue in utter despair.
Imagining this scene, Ouyang Qianxue tightly gripped his dress, his face turning pale.
Noticing Ouyang Qianxue’s distress, Bai Yuxuan swept her icy, threatening gaze around the crowd. The men who had been stealing glances at Ouyang Qianxue were so intimidated by her fierce glare that they instinctively looked away, no longer daring to stare under his skirt.
“Your bike is mine now! Ouyang Qianxue, hop on!” Bai Yuxuan abruptly stopped a passing bicycle. After tossing a few thousand yuan to the bewildered owner, she pulled Ouyang Qianxue onto the backseat and swiftly rode away from the crowd.
“Wow, that boy is so cool!”
“Especially the way he protected his girlfriend. So much boyfriend energy!” The women around couldn’t help but express their admiration.
Afraid that the wind might lift his skirt, Ouyang Qianxue kept one hand tightly holding down his dress while the other wrapped around Bai Yuxuan’s waist. Feeling his hand around her, Bai Yuxuan’s cheeks flushed slightly. After a while, the two finally reached a less crowded area.
“We’re here. This is our first stop for today,” Bai Yuxuan said with a smile.
Ouyang Qianxue looked up at the massive building in front of them, it was an aquarium.
“Thanks for earlier. But shouldn’t the aquarium usually be crowded?”
“That’s because it’s under renovation today.” Bai Yuxuan pointed to a sign nearby that read “Closed for Renovation.”
“If it’s under renovation, why are we here?”
“Heh, you’ll find out once we go inside.”
With that, Bai Yuxuan knocked on the door, and a staff member warmly opened it.
“Young Master Bai, you’re here! The venue is all set up for you. We guarantee no one else will disturb you today.” After saying this, the staff member stepped aside.
As it turned out, the aquarium was only pretending to be closed, Bai Yuxuan had actually booked the entire place.
“Bai Yuxuan, why did you bring me here? Is this some kind of punishment game?” Ouyang Qianxue asked warily, looking around the empty aquarium.
“Don’t overthink it. I just wanted to relax. You know my family background, being part of the Bai family isn’t easy. I work hard every day.” Sighing, Bai Yuxuan stretched and gazed at the tropical fish in the aquarium display.
“You could have come by yourself, though.”
“It’s boring to come alone, with no one to talk to… Actually, even in daily life, no one really talks to me.” Though Bai Yuxuan’s tone was calm, a hint of sadness flickered in her expression.
Seeing Bai Yuxuan like this, Ouyang Qianxue felt a pang of sympathy. From what Bai Yuxuan had shared on her birthday, he knew how lonely and isolated she was, unable to trust even her own father.
Looking at the black-haired boy in front of him, wearing a small braid, Ouyang Qianxue had the illusion that this boy seemed to blend into the deep blue water behind him, both giving off a cold, profound feeling.
“What? Why are you looking at me? Are you mesmerized by my handsome looks?”
“Ugh, I’ve never seen someone with such a thick skin!”
“Alright, enough joking. You must be exhausted too, juggling studies and club activities. Let’s just relax properly today.” With that, the two headed deeper into the aquarium.
They first arrived at the underwater tunnel. Stepping inside, it felt as if they had entered an underwater world, surrounded by all kinds of fish and marine life.
“This is amazing,” Ouyang Qianxue exclaimed, pressing his face against the tunnel wall.
“Don’t be impressed just yet.” As soon as Bai Yuxuan finished speaking, a great white shark swam right above them.
“Wow, this is my first time seeing a shark up close!” Ouyang Qianxue said excitedly.
“You know, it kind of reminds me of you.”
“Of me?” Bai Yuxuan asked, puzzled.
“It’s the king of the ocean, but no other fish dares to come near it. It’s always alone.”
“Is that so?” Bai Yuxuan fell silent for a long moment before suddenly saying to Ouyang Qianxue, “I also found a fish that reminds me of you.” Following Bai Yuxuan’s pointing finger, Ouyang Qianxue saw a pufferfish.
“You’re the pufferfish!” Ouyang Qianxue puffed his cheeks in annoyance, looking even more like a pufferfish. Bai Yuxuan burst into laughter.
In the surveillance room, Xiao Liu, who had been monitoring their movements, was utterly shocked when she saw Bai Yuxuan’s smile. It was the first time since she started working for Bai Yuxuan that she had seen her smile so genuinely from the heart.
