Chapter 391
by post_apiChapter 391: “Dispel”
Unlike Earth Dragons such as Orna that required an entire night to restore their skeletal bodies to original draconic forms, her physical recovery progressed with remarkable speed under the combined effects of “Regeneration” and “Overspeed Regeneration” skills.
In scarcely an hour’s time, Flossie’s form had already reverted to her primordial emerald-scaled dragon appearance. Had she not been afflicted by the “Severe Weakness” condition that halved her attributes, this metamorphosis might have concluded even swifter.
Hmm… Curious that the “Severe Weakness” persists even after revival. Could this be lingering consequences from bearing that S+-graded dragon egg suspected to contain a reincarnator? Regardless, since this qualifies as negative status, perhaps that particular skill could prove useful.
Which skill?
“Dispel,” naturally!
With Flossie now numbered among her forces, restoring the dragon to peak condition became imperative. However, confronting a max-level Class S monster presented challenges – without voluntary cooperation, the “Dispel” skill’s success probability remained uncertain.
After explaining her intentions, Flossie exhibited visible surprise at Lin Yu possessing such rare magic. Nevertheless, recognizing no motive for deception, the great dragon inclined her head in consent.
As the spell activated, the leviathan’s form rippled with phosphorescent light. Subsequent appraisal revealed the vanished “Severe Weakness” status and full restoration of diminished attributes.
Testing renewed strength, the emerald dragon flexed one foreclaw casually. A cataclysmic gale erupted, blasting against cavern walls with thunderous fury –
KRAKOOM!!!
The stone barrier exploded into flying shards, leaving gaping ruins. Witnessing this display, Red Pupil, Magic Rainbow, and the shadow-concealed Darkling Stalker exchanged apprehensive glances. All recognized their likely defeat should they face the restored matriarch anew.
“Magnificent power,” Flossie murmured, unable to suppress triumphant undertones. Her jeweled gaze lingered on the white-haired spellcaster, jaws parting as if to speak before wisdom prevailed – this victor now held her leash. Words unspoken turned to ashes beneath draconic pride.
Though Flossie kept silent, Lin Yu’s curiosity burned. First among countless questions loomed the mystery of dragon eggs – particularly the S+ specimen housing potential reincarnator.
“Do you know their incubation period?”
“My progeny?” The great wyrm’s head swayed ponderously. “Exact duration eludes me, but decades at minimum. Perhaps a full century.”
With surprising delicacy, one massive talon extended to caress the S+ egg’s shimmering surface.
Other dragon eggs might hatch within a decade or two, but as for her… she was laid just four years ago, so it may take considerably longer.
“You possess the Identification skill as well – surely you can view her status panel?”
“Correct.”
The emerald-green dragon lifted her massive head, twin luminous eyes fixing upon Lin Yu before continuing.
“Her name is Betty Gabriel with an S+ aptitude rating. I’m aware she’s likely a reincarnator like yourself, but what of it? She remains my daughter.”
“…I see.”
Well, do as you please; it’s none of my concern anyway.
Lin Yu’s gaze flickered toward Orna and the other Earth Dragons wearing stormy expressions nearby.
Though… it appeared her questioning had strained their mother-daughter relationship even further. Still, Flossie’s words allowed some relief.
If this Betty-embryo required the same decades or even centuries to hatch as others, temporarily setting it aside posed no issue. By the time reincarnators determined their final victor, this creature might still be incubating.
Hmph. Serves you right for reincarnating as a dragon. Had you become something compact and underdeveloped yet voracious – like my ant form – you’d need no protracted hatching.
…
Following dragon egg inquiries came discussions regarding the Lords of Forest, Mountains, and Sea.
While Philid and Orna had provided mostly accurate information about the Forest and Mountain Lords, Flossie’s knowledge proved far more granular – detailing each entity’s nomenclature, species classification, territorial domains, unique capabilities, and her personal rapport with them.
Among these, Flossie maintained excellent relations with one Lord of Mountains and tentative friendship with a Forest Lord through multiple encounters. Yet alliances bred rivalries – despite claiming leadership over the Eight Great Forests decades prior, two Forest Lords remained particularly antagonistic.
As for others… Beyond those eccentric recluses among Forest and Mountain Lords, she’d scarcely interacted with elite monsters. Regarding the Four Sea Lords, Flossie confirmed their existence but admitted limited intelligence – these oceanic sovereigns rarely surfaced, much less participated in ranking assemblies. Their minimal involvement persisted through centuries of War of Reincarnators.
…
“Having been drawn into the reincarnators’ conflict,” Flossie’s voice momentarily trailed off as she regarded Lin Yu, “maintaining neutrality seems… improbable. Your victory over me, chief of Eight Forest Lords, leaves your capabilities undeniable. Thus I shall assist you.”
“And as fellow reincarnator,” her draconic pupils narrowed intently, “deification must be your objective?”
“Does Mother forget subordinates shouldn’t presume to question their superiors?” Orna’s icy interjection sliced through the air. “Such impertinent tone lacks basic decorum.”
Flossie’s scaled visage hardened as she turned toward the daughter she’d scarcely acknowledged since resurrection.
Dragon gazes clashed like tempered blades.
“What? Does Mother still fancy herself sovereign of Granville Forest?”
