Chapter 780
by fanqienovelChapter 780: Reaping Without Sowing
On Hidden Spirit Island, Xu Fan gazed at the Bear Two’s cloud drifting in the sky.
He then glanced at the realm pearl in his hand, which sealed the arm of a Great Luo.
"This is quite troublesome. Even though I’m unmatched in this realm, I still have so many worries," Xu Fan sighed.
At that moment, a teleportation formation materialized in the courtyard, sketched out in the void.
With a flash of spiritual light, Xu Yuexian stepped through.
"Master, is my brother alright?" Xu Yuexian asked urgently as soon as she appeared,
having teleported directly from the South Mountain Realm.
"With me here, what could possibly go wrong? I just suddenly felt like seeing you," Xu Fan said, scrutinizing Xu Yuexian as if he were seeing his disciple in a new light.
Xu Yuexian felt a bit unnerved under Xu Fan’s intense gaze.
"What’s the matter, Master?"
"Nothing serious. A powerful immortal from the upper realm wants to take your brother away."
"I traced the karmic threads and found that they lead back to you."
Profound scriptures flickered in Xu Fan’s eyes as he unveiled the intricate web of karmic threads surrounding him.
"Is it possible that those from the upper realm want to use your body for rebirth?"
Xu Fan observed the connection in the void, one end tied to Xu Yuexian and the other to a vast world.
"Master, do the upper realm beings want to capture my brother to threaten me?" Xu Yuexian inquired.
"That’s essentially the gist of it. But it’s not just about using your body for rebirth; there’s more to it," Xu Fan explained, then pointed to Xu Yuexian’s forehead.
Instantly, a multitude of scriptures formed a sphere that enveloped Xu Yuexian.
The scriptures began to whirl, conducting a thorough analysis.
Just then, a surge of strange powers infused the scriptures,
accelerating their operation severalfold.
"Grape, have you finished digesting that half of the Heavenly Way’s Will source?" Xu Fan asked.
"Master, I have digested half. This is something Grape can manage," Grape replied respectfully.
"Good. Since you’re aware of the circumstances surrounding Yuexian, help me figure out what could prompt that transcendent Great Luo to act," Xu Fan said, delegating the task to Grape.
"Understood, Master."
Grape took control of the scriptures surrounding Xu Yuexian.
This process lasted for three months.
"Master, the analysis is complete."
While deep in thought, Xu Fan heard Grape’s voice.
"What’s the reason?" Xu Fan asked, sitting up.
"They are seeking a breakthrough for the reincarnation of the Great Luo and have traced some karmic threads back to the upper realm, intending to be reborn and replace Xu Yuexian as the Great Luo."
"Additionally, there are a few other possibilities, but none are as accurate as this one," Grape replied.
"Reincarnation of the Great Luo," Xu Fan mused, stroking his chin. "Perhaps it’s because the realm is too low; I haven’t noticed anything unusual about Yuexian yet."
"Unfortunately, even though my path is advanced, in this realm, I’m limited to the capabilities of a Great Ascension Master," Xu Fan explained. "That’s just how the rules work. Unless you’re planning to destroy the entire world, any being that surpasses the realm’s limits will be restricted."
"If it weren’t for these restrictions, I wouldn’t be able to handle that Great Luo."
"The enemies I’m noting down in my little notebook are getting more formidable," Xu Fan remarked as he pulled out the notebook. He glanced at the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon on the cover before flipping it open. Before the first page, he created a new page and sealed the realm pearl onto it. A giant hand appeared on the first page, labeled as an unnamed Great Luo Golden Immortal, with a small note: "Targets the second brother—must eliminate."
Xu Fan then put the notebook away. Xu Yuexian happened to witness this and was moved to tears. "I’m sorry for causing you trouble, Master," she said, her eyes glistening.
"It’s no big deal. Just a Great Luo Golden Immortal," Xu Fan said casually. "As long as I can hold out, no matter how strong the enemy, I’ll eventually bring them down."
"But I must say, I’m disappointed. The disciple I value so much is only a reincarnation of a Golden Immortal, and yet she’s been caught off guard by others who want to exploit her descendants," Xu Fan said, shaking his head in frustration.
Xu Yuexian lowered her head in shame. "It seems your past life was quite a failure, but with me as your master in this life, you won’t repeat those mistakes," Xu Fan said calmly, as if stating the obvious.
At that moment, a faint figure appeared behind Xu Yuexian—a woman in a green long dress. She nodded gently at Xu Fan before disappearing. Xu Yuexian shuddered, feeling as though her entire life had been reset.
"Master, what just happened?" she asked.
"Your past life came to see me. Perhaps she was moved by my words," Xu Fan replied.
"My past life?" Xu Yuexian asked, confused.
"Your past life must have used some method to leave a trace of consciousness within you. I wouldn’t have noticed it if she hadn’t revealed herself. Quite a clever trick," Xu Fan praised.
"Then why didn’t she help me when I was deceived by the upper realm?"
"Those matters were too trivial to warrant her intervention," Xu Fan said with a smile.
Just then, Grape’s voice chimed in. "Master, the Invincible Beast King from the Iron-eating Beast Clan in the demon race wishes to see you."
"Invite him in. He did help the human race once," Xu Fan instructed.
Soon, a ten-foot-tall Iron-eating Beast, black and white in color, arrived at Xu Fan’s courtyard. Xu Yuexian watched curiously; it was the first time she’d seen her master allow a beast from the demon race into his courtyard.
"Greetings, supreme of the human race," the Iron-eating Beast said, bowing clumsily.
The adorable appearance of the black and white beast softened Xu Fan’s expression. "Rise, rise, no need for formalities," Xu Fan said with a smile. "Yuexian, go prepare some tea."
Xu Yuexian was puzzled but went to the treasure house to fetch a small jar of celestial spirit tea. She knew that when her master asked her to prepare tea, it meant to use the best. Otherwise, Grape would have handled it.
"Supreme of the human race, there’s no need to be so polite," the Invincible Beast King said, feeling both honored and nervous. Though he was considered top-tier in the demon race, before Xu Fan, he felt insignificant.
Xu Fan examined the Invincible Beast King warmly and nodded in satisfaction. While not the strongest, he was no weakling either, capable of holding his own against the Purple Jade Flood Dragon.
"What should I call you, esteemed beast king?" Xu Fan asked.
"You can call me Heituan," the beast said, scratching his head, feeling a bit flustered by Xu Fan’s friendly demeanor.
"What brings you here?" Xu Fan inquired.
"Our Iron-eating Beast Clan has no desire for conflict. Though we are part of the demon race, we have never acted against the human race. Now that the demon race is weak and the human race has become the dominant power of the two realms, I wish to pay my respects to the supreme of the human race and request that the Iron-eating Beast Clan be recognized as a neutral clan," Heituan said respectfully.
