Chapter 600
by fanqienovelChapter 600: A Family Reunion
Xu Fan casually waved his hand, and in no time, he had disassembled the twenty-zhang-long giant snake.
A glowing blue crystal stone popped out from the giant snake’s head.
“Qing Soul Crystal, not bad luck!”
“Big Brother Xu, do you need it? If you do, just take it; no need to stand on ceremony,” Wang Yulun said.
“This used to be somewhat useful for Grape, but now it’s not as effective. Might as well keep it to cultivate a new spirit,” Xu Fan thought aloud.
“Alright, I’ll take it to the sect’s treasury and trade it for points,” Wang Yulun said, storing the Qing Soul Crystal in his space ring.
“What’s Linger been up to lately? She hasn’t come to pester her uncle for any goodies,” Xu Fan asked casually.
“Linger’s been diving into the Virtual Environment with her master lately, having a blast.”
“She’s even set her sights on becoming the First Tian Puppet Master of the Hidden Spirit Sect,” Wang Yulun said with a chuckle, his eyes full of fondness.
“That’s quite the ambition! Becoming the First Tian Puppet Master of the Hidden Spirit Sect is no small task,” Xu Fan laughed.
“Let her be. I haven’t been around for Linger much these years, and now that she’s found something she enjoys, I won’t stop her as long as it’s harmless,” Wang Yulun said.
“Fair enough.”
Just then, Xu Fan’s fishing rod dipped, and he reeled in a big fish.
“How come you always catch normal fish?” Wang Yulun said, sounding a bit envious.
“Because I don’t have any buffs on me,” Xu Fan replied with a grin.
“What’s a buff?”
“It’s that special ability you’ve got; it’s just in a different category.”
“Besides, if you didn’t fish with me, you might actually catch a few normal fish,” Xu Fan teased.
“Next time, I’ll go fishing alone. Right now, Qianer keeps suspecting I’m up to no good because I never bring any fish home,” Wang Yulun said.
The two fished until sunset before heading back.
In the courtyard, Xu Fan lounged on a chair, admiring Hidden Spirit Island under the moonlight, while Xu Yuexian brewed tea nearby.
“Where’ve you been wandering off to this time?” Xu Fan asked with a smile.
“Nowhere special, just treasure hunting within the territory. Found a few small Spiritual Veins,” Xu Yuexian replied.
“Small Spiritual Veins aren’t that exciting. Let them develop on their own,” Xu Fan said dismissively.
Xu Yuexian set a cup of spirit tea on the small table next to Xu Fan.
“Master, the Thunderbird in the Beast Cage wants to talk to you,” Xu Yuexian said.
“What’s there to talk about? It can just stay in the Hidden Spirit Sect and do its job,” Xu Fan replied.
“It’s good news—the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign wants to speak to you directly.”
Xu Yuexian’s words caught Xu Fan’s attention.
“Alright, let it out.”
Xu Fan finished speaking, and a puppet at the Great Ascension stage appeared beside him, holding a Giant Stick.
Xu Yuexian nodded and released a humanoid Thunder Bird.
“What do you want?” Xu Fan asked lightly.
“Is the Grand Elder from the Thunder Bird Clan not coming?” the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign asked eagerly.
“Probably not. If you still have a way to communicate with your Grand Elder’s location, then it’s hard to say,” Xu Fan replied as he lifted his tea cup and took a sip.
“Then can the Grand Elder let me go? I want to see a friend, and when I return, I am willing to serve the sect,” the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign said, a hint of worry flashing in his eyes.
“What’s the difference? Aren’t you already serving my sect?” Xu Fan said with a smile as he looked at the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign.
“Are you joking? If I let you go, how can I be sure you’ll return?”
“There’s a big difference; I would be doing it willingly,” the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign said, sadness glimmering in his eyes.
Xu Fan observed the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign’s gaze and sensed that there was a story behind it.
“Speak your mind… no, are you hiding something from me? Is it just to see your friend?”
Xu Fan almost let the story slip out.
“If you don’t even tell me the truth, even if I put a protective barrier on you, I can’t let you out,” Xu Fan said.
The Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign fell silent, and Xu Fan didn’t disturb him, instead sipping tea while admiring the mountain scenery.
“I’m in love with the Lucid Wind Beast Sovereign of the Qing Bird Clan; she’s pregnant with my child. By my calculation, the latest will be in half a year, the child will be born, so I want to see her,” he confessed.
“Just a glance and a few words with Lu’er, and my life is yours,” the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign added.
“Your beast race is full of unpredictable methods. How can I know if you’ll come back once you leave?” Xu Fan responded.
Without saying a word, the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign took out his true spirit, dividing it in half and handing it to Xu Fan.
“This half of my true spirit contains my core essence. If I don’t return in one year, you can crush it without hesitation,” the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign said firmly.
Another lovesick soul, Xu Fan thought to himself.
Xu Fan waved his hand, conjuring a chair and smiling at the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign. “Sit down; this can be arranged.”
“Also, I have one more thing to discuss with you.” A spark of wisdom flashed in Xu Fan’s eyes; he loved the beauty of the beast transformation and couldn’t stand the plot of love being torn apart.
The Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign sat down, looking puzzled and somewhat anxious.
“If I agree to your request, are you really willing to serve my Hidden Spirit Sect wholeheartedly?” Xu Fan asked.
“Of course, but first I want to see her and the child,” the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign replied.
“Don’t you want to reunite and live a happy life together?” Xu Fan tempted.
“Are you planning to let me go?” the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign asked in surprise.
Xu Fan rolled his eyes, realizing that this chance was unlikely, even suggesting to escape from the Hidden Spirit Sect might be better.
“It seems you’ve misunderstood my intention. What I meant was for you to bring them back.”
“I’ll appoint you as an elder of the demon division, and you can settle down here,” Xu Fan said with a grin.
The Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign shook his head firmly. “No way, I’ve come this far; how can I delay them?”
“Let me put it another way.”
“Do you think they will be bullied as orphans in the Qing Bird Clan?”
“Moreover, your son, whom you haven’t met yet, is of a different kind. Do you think the Qing Bird Clan will accept them?”
“If you bring them here to my Hidden Spirit Sect, wouldn’t you all be reunited?” Xu Fan tempted once again.
“I promise you that when they arrive, as long as they follow the rules of my Hidden Spirit Sect, I will not place a protective barrier on them.”
“They can come and go as they please, just as long as you stay in the Hidden Spirit Sect.”
Xu Fan’s words made the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign waver slightly.
“Think about them being vulnerable as orphans; what will happen to them in the Qing Bird Clan?”
“Even if they are powerful, they will still be looked down upon in their clan.”
Xu Fan then elaborated on the benefits of the demon division.
In the end, the Swift Thunder Beast Sovereign simply said,
“Grand Elder, you just mentioned the heavenly path oath.”
