Chapter 1031
by fanqienovelChapter 1031: Secret Technique
A piece of petrified Dragon Scale was already half gnawed by Fierce White.
Xu Fan curiously picked up the half petrified Dragon Scale and tested its hardness, surprised to find that with his current strength, he couldn’t break the scale at all.
“Little guy, how come you’re still the size of a hand after sleeping for so many years?”
Xu Fan held Fierce White in one hand while gently patting its little head with the other.
“Awwooo~” Fierce White softly howled at Xu Fan.
“Are you saying you’ll never grow up?” Xu Fan asked with a smile.
Fierce White nodded.
“Do you like eating this petrified true dragon?” Xu Fan asked again.
“Awwooo~”
“Alright then, you like to eat it even when it’s not petrified; that’s good, a great habit,” Xu Fan laughed.
“No rush; this entire petrified true dragon is yours; take your time eating,” Xu Fan said with a grin.
Fierce White jumped onto Xu Fan’s shoulder and nudged its little head against Xu Fan’s face to show affection.
After placing Fierce White on the body of the petrified true dragon, Xu Fan returned to his courtyard, sinking back into his lazy routine.
The next day, while Xu Fan lay in his courtyard basking in the sun, the sect leader with the least presence, Qiu Ziyuan, arrived at Xu Fan’s courtyard.
“Greetings, Grand Elder,” Qiu Ziyuan said respectfully.
“Get up; what brings you here?” Xu Fan asked in a warm and friendly manner.
He always had a good impression of Qiu Ziyuan, who had managed the sect’s affairs flawlessly while in the lower realm and had not made any major mistakes since then.
This was quite a remarkable achievement.
“Grand Elder, the number of Quasi-Immortal and True Immortal disciples within the sect is increasing, and the current tasks available in the sect are no longer enough to distribute,” Qiu Ziyuan explained.
“This has resulted in newly promoted Quasi-Immortal disciples receiving no resources other than the most basic benefits from the sect.”
“I discussed with Grape the possibility of dispatching sect’s disciples to various places in the Immortal Realm to open schools and earn Immortal Jade, allowing the disciples to have something to do.”
“Have you really reached this point so quickly?” Xu Fan remarked.
“Master, nearly thirty percent of the fourth-generation disciples have already advanced to Quasi-Immortal, creating a sharp increase in numbers, and the sect cannot reasonably arrange more tasks,” Grape replied.
“So, you want the sect to provide the illusion formation celestial tools for teaching the students so that you can start the schools yourselves?” Xu Fan said.
“Yes, exactly,” Qiu Ziyuan nodded.
"This plan is acceptable; if there are truly no tasks to assign, let the disciples venture into entrepreneurship, as long as they don’t go to the border battlefield, everything else is negotiable,” Xu Fan thought for a moment and said.
It wasn’t that he was unwilling to let the disciples contribute to the human race; it was just that the current battlefield conditions were unclear, and the rules on the battlefield had already been broken.
The Golden Immortal Great Luo could now act freely against True Immortals, so sending disciples there could easily result in a situation where, if they performed well, they would attract the attention of the Golden Immortal Great Luo from the other side.
With a wave of a hand, they could eliminate a large number of outstanding human cultivators, and those individuals were still quite eager to go.
“Grape, I leave this to you,” Xu Fan said as he waved his hand.
“The academies should be spread out evenly, just make sure you’re not stepping on each other’s toes,” Xu Fan added.
“Got it.”
“Opening an academy right after finishing training? That’s bold,” Xu Fan chuckled, letting the disciples do their thing as long as they didn’t get themselves killed.
“Master, the funds from the Golden Academy have come in—130 million Immortal Jade,” Grape’s voice chimed in.
“Good. Use some of that to buy immortal ores. We’ll need to craft more illusion celestial tools for the future academies,” Xu Fan instructed.
“Understood, Master.”
Xu Fan lay in his courtyard, staring at the white clouds in the sky. It took him three whole days to snap out of it.
In the Wuwang Immortal Realm, outside a secret realm,
Ye Xiaoyao sat on the ground, looking utterly defeated.
“Old Sword, it’s been over two years. You still haven’t remembered the secret technique to open the Great Immortal Emperor’s treasure?”
“Relax, try this one again,” Old Sword said, speaking directly into Ye Xiaoyao’s mind.
A new secret technique flooded Ye Xiaoyao’s thoughts.
After a quick study, Ye Xiaoyao formed a hand seal and slapped it toward the secret realm’s gate.
But instead of opening, the gate retaliated, sending him flying with a powerful repelling force.
“Old Sword, I’m done. When you remember, let me know. I’m not putting up with this anymore,” Ye Xiaoyao grumbled, his body half-buried in the mountainside.
Who could handle being flung into a mountain seven or eight times a day?
“This doesn’t make sense. This should be the right technique. What’s going wrong?”
“Don’t give up, Xiaoyao. Try this one more time.”
Another secret technique entered Ye Xiaoyao’s mind.
“Nope. I’m taking a break. No more attempts,” Ye Xiaoyao said, throwing in the towel.
“How do you even mix these up? You were a Great Immortal Emperor!” Ye Xiaoyao muttered internally.
“My memory’s vast. It’s easy to mix things up.”
“And you, little rascal, giving up after a few setbacks? How are you going to help me get revenge?”
“Try these techniques one more time. If they don’t work, we’ll rest and try again later,” Old Sword encouraged.
“Easy for you to say. You’re not the one getting launched into a mountain,” Ye Xiaoyao shot back.
“Well, there’s something in there that could speed up your path to becoming a Golden Immortal. Your call,” Old Sword said with a shrug.
Ye Xiaoyao hesitated, then gritted his teeth and tried the new techniques.
The result? A few more human-shaped craters in the distant mountain wall.
“This can’t be right. Why isn’t it working? Did you really mix up the techniques?” Old Sword muttered in Ye Xiaoyao’s mind.
Back in the courtyard, Xu Fan, who had just settled down, felt a headache coming on as he looked at Li Xuandao.
“Let’s hold off on the Great Immortal Emperor’s treasure for now. I’ve got other things to deal with. Once I’m done, I’ll go with you to the Wuwang Immortal Realm,” Xu Fan said, brushing off Li Xuandao’s attempts to assign him tasks.
“Understood, Master,” Li Xuandao said, leaving with a hint of disappointment.
“The Great Immortal Emperor’s treasure sounds like a headache. I’ll deal with it when I’ve got time,” Xu Fan said, lounging in his chair.
Just then, a white light zipped into Xu Fan’s arms.
It was Fierce White, gnawing on a piece of petrified Dragon Scale.
Xu Fan found it amusing and lifted Fierce White by its tail to get a closer look.
“What kind of creature are you, chewing on something as hard as a petrified true dragon?”
Dangling in the air, Fierce White whined, stretching its head toward the Dragon Scale fragment.
“Grape, check the ancient records. Are there any turtle species that eat true dragons?” Xu Fan asked.
“There are three ancient turtle species known to feed on the Dragon Race: Earth Glutton, Devourer, and Void. None of them match Fierce White, Master,” Grape replied.
“Alright, I’ll just have to wait until it grows a bit more to figure out what it really is.”
