Volume 1 Chapter 27.2
by Need_More_SleepVolume 1 + Chapter 27.2: No Title
With two streamers carrying me through the matches, victory came almost effortlessly, we hardly lost at all.
Just like before, I simply played Yuumi and attached myself to the boss, watching her stylishly outplay the enemies with ease.
Life as a Yuumi was just that plain and unadorned, follow the pro, press your abilities, and that’s it.
Yet, as the ones doing the carrying, we ended up attracting someone’s jealousy.
ShadowFlow Miao was a somewhat well-known streamer, and he had great confidence in his own skill. Though he often bragged on stream about having reached Challenger in solo queue with Zed, he knew perfectly well that his highest rank had only ever been Master.
Today, he happened to run into two cute girls, one of whom was even a female streamer on the same platform.
His heart stirred. Blinded by their charm, he invited them to play flex queue together, thinking he could rely on his skill to carry them to higher ranks, make them admire him, and turn them into little fans who would sweetly cheer “666” for him from the sidelines.
But things turned out completely differently from what he had imagined. It wasn’t him carrying the girls, it was the two of them carrying him, crushing game after game.
This made him extremely uncomfortable, especially as people in his chat began stirring things up, saying things like the streamer was trash and needed two girls to carry him.
What irritated him even more was that these two girls were like steel, completely unresponsive to his flirting, no matter how he tried.
In the past, when he played with other girls, he would use his streamer status to make slightly suggestive jokes, and they would usually play along. Some more open ones would even sweetly call him “big brother” or “husband.”
But playing with these two felt, frankly, no different from playing with his own buddies.
At that moment, ShadowFlow Miao felt that he was being looked down upon, that they disdained him, which was why they wouldn’t respond to his advances.
Annoyed and irritated, he began looking for a way to strike back. When his eyes landed on the platform’s donation interface, an idea suddenly came to him.
“Thanks to ×××× for the ×××, boss, you’re here again! Thank you, thank you!”
“Thanks to ×××× for the ×××!”
……
Since he couldn’t compete in skill, he decided to use his fans’ donations to mock them. After all, they were just small streamers, surely they had never seen this kind of scene before. Instantly, a sense of superiority swelled within him. These two girls would definitely be envious of his donations.
But men really are foolish creatures, once distracted by ulterior thoughts, their gameplay inevitably falls apart.
And just so happened that in this match, we ran into an extremely strong premade team, the toughest opponents we had faced so far.
From the very start, Shuo Yan sensed something was wrong. The enemy team’s awareness was simply too good; there was no opportunity to catch anyone off guard.
Meanwhile, ShadowFlow Miao, who already harbored hostility toward us, played mid lane without ever roaming to support. Or rather, he was unwilling to.
Very quickly, the match spiraled into a severe disadvantage.
What was most infuriating was that whenever Shuo Yan tried to communicate or direct him, he acted as though he hadn’t heard a thing. He didn’t care about the game at all, he just kept smiling and thanking the donors in his stream.
The game was practically lost, and he was still thanking people, what the hell!?
Although Shuo Yan wanted to vent her frustration and curse at him, she held herself back. After all, she was live streaming, it wouldn’t be good to let things escalate too far.
Even though both she and I tried our best to salvage the situation, the gap between the two teams was simply too great. This match ended in an inevitable defeat.
Shuo Yan was someone who took games seriously. It had been a match they could have won, yet it ended in such a frustrating way. Her slender hand gripped the mouse tightly, her dark eyes filled with unwillingness and resentment.
Fortunately, the viewers in her stream still had some decency, and messages of comfort quickly filled the chat.
[Yan-chan did her best, these teammates were way too bad, both unskilled and reckless.]
[That enemy streamer was awful, completely a burden this game.]
[There was no coordination, but you can’t blame the two girls entirely.]
……
That ShadowFlow Miao is seriously a piece of work!
While the boss was still feeling upset and unwilling to accept the loss, he didn’t say a single word to us, instead indifferently continuing to read out donation messages.
Did he really think we didn’t know? The donations he was reading were just a few dollars, at most a few dozen, and some were even free gifts from the platform.
“What the hell are you reading? You just keep going on and on, do you even know how to play the game!?”
That’s what I was thinking, and I said it out loud.
The atmosphere instantly became awkward.
In the team voice chat, ShadowFlow Miao’s voice faltered in surprise. He clearly hadn’t expected the quiet support girl to suddenly lash out at him.
“Heh. Of course I have to thank people who send me gifts. New streamers probably haven’t seen much of this, right? After all, some people don’t even dare to turn on their camera, you can’t even tell what they look like. Who knows if they’re even girls.”
His tone dripped with sarcasm. Even though he didn’t name us directly, it was obvious who he was targeting.
Many viewers in Shuo Yan’s stream also sensed that something was off.
Some supported Shuo Yan and criticized ShadowFlow Miao for bullying a new streamer. Others, blinded by lust, started urging her to turn on her camera, mocking that if she didn’t, it must mean she was using a voice changer.
The boss’s expression darkened. It was her first time realizing just how harsh and cutthroat the streaming industry could be, being treated like this right at the start.
If that ShadowFlow Miao were standing in front of her right now, she’d probably grab a chair and smash it over him, he would be infuriating!
“Boss… I’m sorry. It’s my fault for not controlling my temper, and now things have turned out like this.”
I muted my microphone, clutched the corner of her clothes, and spoke guiltily. If I could see myself in a mirror, I’d probably notice my eyes slightly reddened, on the verge of tears.
I was supposed to help boost her stream’s popularity, but instead I had made things worse. It was all my fault.
The boss muted both the game and her stream. Her slender, warm hand gently rested on the back of mine, while her other arm softly pulled my head into her embrace. In a gentle voice, she comforted me:
“Xiao Li, it’s okay. This isn’t your fault. Thank you for standing up for me. We both don’t like him anyway. Worst case, we’ll just kick him from the party later. No need to give him any face. Let him taste what embarrassment feels like.”
She blinked, her tone carrying a hint of playful mischief.
“Mm… the boss is the best. No one can bully you!” My guilt eased a little under her comfort. I wiped the corner of my eyes and smiled at her.
Just then, a small rocket animation rose in the stream.
[Picked Up Money Today] sent a “Mengya No.1” gift.
