Chapter 500
by fanqienovelChapter 500: Senior Brother, He Taunted Me
The elders of each peak all turned their heads to one side.
Since even the Sect Master had no objections, they certainly didn’t either. Jingtan Peak was vast and sparsely populated; Peak Master Ye would surely manage just fine.
Seeing that he was finally able to enter the immortal gate, the boy’s expression was filled with excitement.
“Next, you fool!”
The qualification tests for the remaining disciples continued in the square, but this no longer concerned Ji Yang.
Accepting disciples on behalf of his Master was clearly not what Ye Wuchen had in mind; it was his own decision.
Ji Yang had a feeling he might not be at Jingtan Peak for much longer.
Since Ye Wuchen had already found a successor before leaving, what if he ascended? Wouldn’t Jingtan Peak be left without anyone to carry on?
To ensure Jingtan Peak had a future, Ji Yang could only choose to help Ye Wuchen find another disciple.
Previously, he hadn’t found a suitable candidate, but the appearance of Xu Yiheng, this Talent Jealousy, made Ji Yang consider him more seriously.
If this boy had come ten years earlier, perhaps fate wouldn’t have been so coincidental, and he would have surely been the disciple that all the peaks wanted to compete for.
However, having his own past experiences created the current awkward situation.
“Let’s go, return to the peak.”
Looking at the delighted but unsure boy, Ji Yang called out.
The boy immediately followed Ji Yang, and together they left the Outer Gate Square and headed toward Jingtan Peak.
“We, Jingtan Peak, are one of the Twelve Peaks in the sect. Currently, my Master, who is the Peak Master of Jingtan Peak, is away traveling, so I’m in charge of all matters here. My name is Ji Yang; you can call me Senior Brother Ji.”
“Greetings, Senior Brother Ji!”
Xu Yiheng was thrilled, and a hint of reverence appeared on his face.
This Senior Brother Ji was able to manage a peak in his Master’s absence, so his abilities must be impressive. Joining this peak might not be a bad thing after all.
Just as the two had not walked far, Ji Yang suddenly sensed a gaze from a distance, fixated on him.
This made Ji Yang look up unconsciously.
He saw several Golden Core disciples standing quietly at a distance, and in the midst of them stood one person, exceptionally impressive and regal.
Ji Yang was not unfamiliar with this person; like him, Lei Ming had entered the sect ten years ago and possessed exceptional talents.
A slight probe revealed that Lei Ming was now at the Nascent Soul Stage.
As their eyes met, Ji Yang also caught the pride in Lei Ming’s gaze.
Achieving the Nascent Soul Stage in just ten years was indeed remarkable.
Ji Yang’s gaze was calm as he glanced over and did not linger too long on him, then continued on with the boy behind him.
“Senior Brother Lei, should we stop him?”
A Golden Core disciple noticed this scene and immediately asked.
Lei Ming watched Ji Yang’s departing figure, simply raising his hand slightly:
“No need.”
Ten years ago, Ji Yang rode ahead effortlessly, making Lei Ming look up to him.
But ten years later, the former genius had faded, and now Ji Yang had begun to stand out.
The greatest rival he once had no longer piqued his interest.
This made Lei Ming find it somewhat amusing; how could he have ever aimed to surpass Ji Yang back then?
He felt his focus should be broader. Perhaps, the position of true inheritance in the sect should be his next goal to pursue.
“Let’s go!”
Leaving the outer sect, Ji Yang lifted the boy beside him and transformed into a streak of Sword Light, flying swiftly towards Jingtan Peak.
In the air, the boy, experiencing flying for the first time, flushed with excitement from the wind.
After Ji Yang slowed down a bit, the boy finally began to adjust to the sensation and curiously glanced down, unable to contain his questions:
“Senior Brother, is that mountain shimmering with light and rising mist our Jingtan Peak?”
“That’s Juhufeng. There are only a couple of small cats and birds inside; nothing too impressive.”
“Senior Brother, I heard others say that looks like Shengquan Peak!”
“Uh, it seems I remembered it wrong.”
“Senior Brother, that mountain with the ancient melodies…”
Before the boy could finish, Ji Yang sped up again.
In an instant, they reached the summit of Jingtan Peak.
When Xu Yiheng regained his bearings from the dizziness, he was met with vast barren spiritual fields. Ji Yang had not had the chance to plant anew after harvesting the spiritual grains. Looking back, he saw a few ordinary wooden houses.
This left Xu Yiheng puzzled:
“Senior Brother, is this really our Jingtan Peak?”
Ji Yang nodded:
“Yes, this is Jingtan Peak.”
Recalling the other peaks he had just seen, Xu Yiheng stubbornly asked once more.
Ji Yang turned to look at the boy, deep in thought. He soon remembered his past and then gazed into the distance, speaking in a low, solemn tone:
“A cultivator should not covet external things. We may lack many things at Jingtan Peak, but we hold the Resolve Toward the Dao! This is all part of cultivation!”
“Senior Brother is right, but I still have some questions…”
Ji Yang interrupted:
“Alright, no more questions. I will teach you the methods of cultivation. Don’t you want to become an immortal?”
Upon hearing about becoming an immortal, Xu Yiheng’s eyes immediately grew resolute, nodding vigorously:
“Yes!”
“Good, listen closely. There are ten realms in cultivation…”
After Ji Yang explained, the boy seemed to understand only a little, unable to fully grasp its meaning, but he knew this was knowledge for his future practice, so he quietly remembered it in his mind.
After outlining the basics of cultivation, Ji Yang spoke earnestly:
“Alright, that’s the general idea of cultivation. Now, go and fill all the spiritual fields inside and outside the peak.”
“Alright!”
Xu Yiheng nodded and walked towards the nearby wooden house.
But after just a couple of steps, he sensed something was off and gazed at the endless spiritual fields below, his expression blank:
“Senior Brother, me?”
“Yep.”
“But I don’t know how to plant!”
“It’s okay; it will teach you.”
Ji Yang called out, and Little Black appeared before the boy.
Looking at the small gray earth dog that was only half his height, Xu Yiheng felt a bit dazed.
But the next moment, he saw the disdain in Little Black’s eyes, which made Xu Yiheng exclaim:
“Senior Brother, it’s mocking me!”
“Don’t worry; you’ll get used to it. Quickly go plant the crops. Once you finish planting, you’ll become an immortal too.”
After saying that, a somewhat worn-out hoe fell at his feet.
Hearing about becoming an immortal, Xu Yiheng pushed aside his thoughts, picked up the hoe in hand, and walked toward the spiritual field.
At the peak, Ji Yang observed as Xu Yiheng vigorously swung the hoe in the spiritual field, nodding slightly.
Though he had a few more questions, he showed decent intelligence and effort.
As long as his realm didn’t increase too slowly, he need not worry too much about Jingtan Peak being leaderless in the future.
