Volume 1 + Chapter 9: One Hand Covering The Sky

Before Eve Lawrence was sentenced to hanging, she was one of the best-natured people in this region.

Moreover, as a benevolent witch, the magic she learned was basically the charitable type, and through years of doing good deeds, she had unknowingly accumulated quite a network of connections.

Even members of the Royal Family were no exception.

Although Royal Family members and Holy Church members were two different factions, as long as the class gap was large enough, Royal Family members could interfere with the actions of Holy Church members.

Based on Eve’s memories, as well as the information gap from the original world line she had read about, she immediately thought of someone who could solve her predicament.

The princess of this country, who was also someone Eve had saved before.

This was her first time being so close to the palace, and the shy girl kept hiding behind Eve, afraid that her cheapness and insecurity would contaminate the nobility of this place.

However, in comparison, Eve appeared quite confident. When faced with the knights who stood in their way and looked them up and down, Eve showed no signs of timidity.

“Sorry, the Royal Palace is restricted area, no unauthorized entry.”

The knight’s tone carried a hint of disdain.

But Eve showed no signs of urgency, she simply took out an envelope and handed it to them, and now it was the guard knight’s turn to be confused.

Faced with the tall, fully armed knight, Leah hiding behind was so scared she didn’t dare breathe.

Yet Eve just calmly said a few words, which somehow made the knight’s attitude become more respectful.

Leah hadn’t clearly heard what Eve said, but from Eve’s confident expression, Leah only felt a complete sense of security.

The knight took the envelope and went inside, and after a short while, a maid came running out behind the knight, breathing heavily.

Wearing a simple black and white maid uniform and high heels, her movements were still quite nimble.

When she saw Eve and Leah, the maid’s expression showed obvious surprise.

After all, the two were dressed quite simply, and because Leah had been digging in the cemetery earlier, she was even a bit dirty.

But thinking of her princess’s excited demeanor, the maid still approached them with a smile.

“Ladies, my princess requests your presence in the Reception Hall for a conversation, please follow me.”

Seeing the maid’s respectful manner, and the knight’s huge attitude change from before, Leah felt that Eve was like a superhuman.

Just a few words plus an envelope could make the palace people treat her with such respect, and even the princess was willing to receive them personally?

“What did you write in that envelope you sent in?”

Leah curiously asked Eve.

But on this question, Eve’s gaze wandered, not knowing how to answer.

“Li-little children shouldn’t ask about things they shouldn’t, this is still a bit too early for you.”

“Oh…”

Leah nodded, seeming to understand but not really understanding.

If Mama Eve didn’t want to say, then she must have her own deep meaning.
