Volume 1 Chapter 19
by Need_More_SleepVolume 1 + Chapter 19: A New Problem
Eve briefly toured the house she would be staying in, which was even more spacious inside than it appeared from the outside.
Being in the wealthy district, unless you were a resident, ordinary people couldn’t enter the building interior, they might not even be able to open the front door downstairs.
So security was completely guaranteed.
It was hard to imagine this property belonged to a little maid, but after all, she was Princess Alice’s only personal maid, so her status must be quite extraordinary.
Perhaps if one really dug deep, her position might even be higher than Eve, who held the Empire’s Medal of Honor.
The house had relatively simple decorations, with a 4-bedroom 2-living room design. The balcony offered an extremely broad view, easily overlooking half of the imperial capital.
Although no one lived in this house, it appeared to be regularly maintained.
All daily necessities were complete, and even the bed sheets and quilts in each bedroom still carried a fresh scent of sunlight.
It was as if they had just been washed, sun-dried, and immediately brought here to be made up.
Eve checked everything, basically all necessities were present, just no food ingredients, though the kitchen was fully equipped with utensils.
Since no one lived here, keeping fruits and vegetables would be pointless as they would just naturally spoil.
This was Leah’s first time staying in such a nice house. She carefully looked around the rooms, even her footsteps showing caution.
“Have you chosen which room you want?”
Eve was organizing the household items, and while busy, looked up at Leah who was curiously examining everything.
Leah was as curious as a cat, seemingly finding even the flowers and plants in the corners extremely interesting.
“I…”
Leah hesitated, she actually wanted to say she wanted to stay with Eve, but she really couldn’t bring herself to say it.
Although their relationship was very close, sleeping in the same bed would still seem quite strange, right?
“I’ll… stay in the room next to yours. At night, I’m afraid of the dark…”
Leah found an excuse, carefully speaking up.
“Oh, is that so? Sure, I won’t lock my door at night, if you’re scared just bring your pillow and come find me anytime.”
Eve finished organizing some miscellaneous items in the room, mainly arranging the food in the kitchen.
Though there weren’t any fresh ingredients, there were quite a few non-perishables like flour and canned goods.
Eve planned to make some snacks with these canned goods and flour as a welcome gift for Miss Qianzhi next door, after all, they would be neighbors from now on, so it was important to establish good relations.
“Really?”
Leah unconsciously raised her voice slightly, then as if realizing something, lowered her head shyly.
She patted her slightly fluttering chest, that was close, she had obviously shown too much excitement just now…
Fortunately Eve hadn’t noticed.
“Of course, I’m going to prepare some cookies now to give to Miss Qianzhi next door. You go arrange your room first.”
Eve took out flour from the cupboard. It wasn’t that she couldn’t give snacks from the palace, but Eve felt her homemade snacks were better than the royal ones.
After all, she was a witch who had maxed out her housekeeping skills. When a witch forgoes studying magic to read cookbooks instead, the skill she can demonstrate is something even the royal chefs can’t match.
However, there was still a rather serious problem facing Eve right now.
That was that they had no money…
Eve didn’t have a single copper coin to her name, but everything needed money now – daily necessities required money, and if Leah hadn’t become an outstanding graduate, the student loan repayment would need money too.
Would she have to get a job after all…
After all, she couldn’t just ask Princess Alice for money, right? If she did that, wouldn’t it really become a sugar relationship…
She remembered seeing that this apartment building was hiring full-time managers when she came up earlier.
Though somehow a white-haired melancholic madam working as an apartment manager seemed a bit odd to Eve.
Like something out of a light novel…
