    Volume 1 + Chapter 136: A Dragon’s Utter Humiliation

    “It’s fine, look—just like this…”

Leah’s voice was extremely calm, so casual it sounded as though she were chatting with Mira while doing a bit of housework on the side.

    Boom—!

    A deafening explosion rang out.

Mira’s eyes flew wide open, her gaze filled with shock.

She watched as Leah viciously slammed a black dragon—one even larger than the previous dragon—straight into the ground. Heaven and earth seemed to tremble in response. The colossal body of the dragon crashed violently into the earth, dust and rubbles billowing into the air, the shockwave so intense that Mira even experienced a brief ringing in her ears.

That enormous dragon had almost completely lost its ability to resist. Its entire body was embedded deep into the ground, the depression plunging several meters down—making it clear that it would not be getting back up anytime soon.

Mira should have felt nothing but hatred toward dragons like these, yet at this very moment, an inexplicable trace of pity welled up inside her.

She stared at the dragon sprawled on the ground, her heart stirred by emotions she could not quite understand.

Leah dusted off her hands, her eyes brimming with a sense of accomplishment. She smiled faintly at the giant dragon lying upside down, firmly pinned to the earth, and said softly, “That should take care of it, right?”

Her tone rose slightly, clearly tinged with happiness and excitement—there was even an unconcealed cheerfulness in her voice.

“Fifty gold coins earned so easily… I’m really lucky.”

In her heart, she felt she had truly struck it rich this time.

She had just arrived here and immediately encountered a target dragon—and it just so happened to be robbing a merchant caravan. Acting righteously, with plenty of witnesses—wasn’t this practically a free bounty?

Filled with smug satisfaction, she lifted her chin and squinted at the massive black dragon. “Hey, you big dumb dragon—stay far away from this place from now on, got it?”

As soon as she finished speaking, she gave the dragon’s huge tail a kick. Her small, round-toed leather shoe made a crisp tapping sound against the dragon’s scales. Compared to the dragon’s enormous body, Leah’s slender figure looked utterly insignificant—like a tiny speck.

Standing beside the giant dragon, Leah was almost impossible to see unless one looked carefully.

The dragon’s mountain-like bulk made Leah appear extraordinarily small.

Yet moments earlier, her swift over-the-shoulder throw that had slammed the dragon into the ground—when viewed from afar—looked as though the colossal beast had been flung through the air by some invisible force, crashing down in an instant amid flying dust, creating a shock that defied belief.

It was only now that Mira finally snapped out of her daze, the scene replaying vividly in her mind. She still could not believe that the Leah before her possessed such terrifying strength.

Her eyes sparkled with reverence and awe. “Leah is simply gold… no, that’s not right—unpolished jade! No—she’s the most dazzling jewel on the imperial crown!”

Mira muttered to herself, her heart overflowing with uncontrollable excitement.

In just a few short days, Leah had brought down two gigantic dragons, and the entire process had been almost effortless—so casual it was hard to believe. Mira took a deep breath, an unprecedented sense of admiration surging within her.

Such talent—this was genius among geniuses. She knew full well that the small girl standing before her was destined for brilliant achievements.

Mira suddenly made up her mind: once she returned, she would immediately report this and recommend Leah to the Imperial Knight Order. Talent and strength like this must never be wasted. Leah was certain to become a pillar of the Empire—perhaps even a great general someday.

At this moment, the giant dragon that had been thrown into a daze finally began to awaken, its consciousness slowly returning.

She had merely been passing through this area. Spotting a merchant caravan in the distance and catching the scent of delicious food drifting through the air, she had thought to casually grab something she liked to fill her stomach.

Who could have known—before she even made a move, before anything had begun—a little girl suddenly grabbed her dragon horns from behind. Then came a brutal over-the-shoulder throw, the world spinning violently, until her mind went completely blank and she remembered nothing at all.

She couldn’t help grumbling inwardly, “Who did I offend? I was just passing through Third Uncle’s territory, thinking I’d grab something nice on the way, and this is what I got…”

She felt she had truly been struck by catastrophic bad luck.

She had thought that occasionally finding something to eat for herself was no big deal. Who would have imagined this area to be so dangerous? Dragon hunters were already troublesome enough—and now there were monsters like this? A half-grown little girl who could throw her like this, nearly giving her a concussion!

Her panic only grew stronger. If word of this spread through her big-mouthed Third Uncle, how much face would she have left among dragons?

What would that cousin of hers, who was already doing better than her think?

When family elders saw her during holidays, wouldn’t they gossip endlessly?

This was beyond losing face—it was losing face all the way home!

Right now, she wished she could just cover her face. If that didn’t work, maybe she could transform and escape in humanoid form?

At least her target would be smaller and losing face as a person had to be better than losing face as a dragon, right?

But in her human form, she wasn’t wearing anything—just a tiny pair of black lace-trimmed triangle panties.

If she really transformed and ran like that… wouldn’t that be incredibly embarrassing too?

If that was the case… rather than leaving her private parts exposed, maybe she should cover something more critical instead. She could put the lace panties over her face and escape…

The giant dragon lay there on the ground, her thoughts spiraling into utter nonsense.

By now, her body had mostly recovered its ability to move, yet she still did not dare make the slightest motion.

Her heart pounded wildly, terrified that any movement would draw the attention of that monstrous girl.

She knew that throw had been absolutely brutal—the force felt like being hurled away like a snapped tree branch.

And so she could only lie there quietly, pretending to be motionless, doing her best not to reveal anything amiss.

    “When are they leaving…?”

She thought silently. Pain radiated from the back of her head throughout her entire body—a dull, violent ache that made her almost want to cry.

“My head hurts so bad… wuwu… I’m really about to cry…”

She wailed inwardly, yet could only continue playing dead, enduring this indescribable agony.

“So, where do I collect the bounty? Fifty gold coins.”

Leah’s voice rang out again, full of excitement and urgency. She looked at Mira, her eyes sparkling—completely unaware that she had just done something utterly unbelievable.

The dragon lying nearby… was dumbfounded.

Listening to Leah’s question, her shock only deepened.

She simply could not believe that this little girl had slammed her into such a miserable state—for the sake of fifty gold coins.

No—defeated an existence of her level… and the reward was only fifty gold coins?

The loose coins that sometimes got stuck between her scales when she shook herself before sleeping were probably worth more than that!

This was far too humiliating for a dragon—unacceptable! She was going to explode on her!

Earlier she hadn’t been prepared. But now…

The roles of offense and defense had reversed.
