Volume 1 Chapter 102
by Need_More_SleepVolume 1 + Chapter 102: Give It A Try
Returning from Anna’s place, Eve felt inexplicably lighthearted.
Although she hadn’t rested all night, for a witch, this was nothing at all.
With the issue weighing on her chest now resolved, Eve was very happy. After all, the heavy stone pressing on her chest had been lifted…
Thinking of this, Eve couldn’t help but look down at the human perfection that hid her toes, wondering when she could move this thing aside.
It was indeed very nice—soft, bouncy, large and white, beautiful and accentuating the figure, and probably even delicious…
But that was how it appeared to outsiders.
From Eve’s own perspective, once she had used it, it undoubtedly became a real burden.
Even doing household chores, bending over to mop the floor required finding the right balance—if she bent too far, her chest would hurt, if she didn’t bend enough, it would be inconvenient and her shoulders would ache.
Sometimes Eve thought it might be better not to have it at all, avoiding unwanted attention, especially from Flora.
Whenever Flora saw her, her eyes seemed auto-targeted, able to lock on from any angle.
“This is quite a big trouble too, I suppose. If only… wait a minute…”
Unconsciously, Eve walked to the commercial street and was drawn by a few figures not far ahead.
It was just dawning, and the commercial street was still quiet, only a few merchants were busy organizing their shops to open for customers.
Normally this would be a routine scene, but Eve noticed that at the entrance of Umi’s family shop, there seemed to be a crowd gathering.
Because it was early, Eve couldn’t see clearly.
At first, she thought they were merchants delivering supplies to Umi’s mother, but looking more carefully, it didn’t seem like that. She thought she heard arguing.
Not having time to think further, Eve took a few steps forward. Even before she got close, she confirmed it—it was indeed an argument.
Frowning, Eve instinctively quickened her pace.
But she hadn’t walked far when she saw Umi, blocking in front of her mother, being pushed to the ground by a tall, well-dressed man, taking a solid fall.
Several men nearby also looked ready to move, and one of them even had a stick in hand.
Walking was no longer an option, she had to fly.
Without thinking, Eve’s aura sank into her dantian. In the blink of an eye, she appeared dozens of meters away.
Before the well-dressed man could react, a flying kick from Eve sent him hurtling dozens of meters, only stopping when he slammed into a parked carriage.
In an instant, the entire commercial street descended into chaos, with shouting everywhere.
Eve calmly set down the high heels she had been holding, slipped her slender jade feet, wrapped in black stockings, into the shoes as if nothing had happened.
This flying kick had been restrained, if she had been wearing the heels, this guy wouldn’t have just flown away—he would probably have suffered internal injuries and died on the spot.
“Who… who are you?”
Eve’s flying kick had successfully subdued everyone present. That well-dressed man seemed to have some status.
Several rushed to help him, while the remaining men, looking like henchmen, picked up sticks and glared at Eve.
“Do you know who you just hit? That’s the grandson of the founding general of the empire, General Reynolds—Prince Freck, the sole heir of the Reynolds family.”
Hearing this string of titles like a menu being recited, Eve felt a headache coming on.
Isn’t he just a spoiled rich kid? To Eve, it was all the same. If she had just been reborn, she might have worried a bit.
But now, Eve feared nothing.
If she acted, these guys were obviously no match for her. If she argued “reason,” clearly they had no more reason than she did.
So what if you’re the grandson of a founding general? Even if you were my grandson, I’d still beat you.
“I don’t care who you are. I only know that you big men are bullying a single mother raising a child, and even pushing her kid.”
“Just this alone, taken to court, is enough to sue you for provocation.”
Eve positioned herself in front of Umi and her mother. The men across from her were clearly stunned by Eve’s commanding words.
But then, the expression on one of their faces changed to disdain.
“Provocation… what’s that? Is that in the empire’s law?”
“Miss, I advise you not to meddle here, or we’ll deal with you too.”
The other’s flippant tone made Eve narrow her eyes slightly.
It seemed the law in this world really was different from the one Eve used to know. After all, here, the bigger the fist, the more right you have…
“Miss Eve…”
Umi had somehow hidden behind Eve. Her large, beautiful eyes were full of helplessness, as if afraid Eve really wouldn’t care.
“It’s okay, don’t be afraid. You don’t need to explain to me now; we’ll talk after this is over.”
Eve patted Umi’s head. She trusted the mother and daughter, and besides, anyone who dared bully such an orphaned mother was clearly a scoundrel.
“I advise you not to point your finger at me, or your finger will…”
Seeing that the man still hadn’t lowered his hand, Eve couldn’t help but smile with disdain.
The next second, with a painful scream, the finger pointing at Eve bent a full ninety degrees upward.
Eve hadn’t even touched him, nor had she cast any magic.
“Can’t handle such a small matter, and the master wasted his time raising you.”
As Eve stared coldly at the man, an older man in his fifties slowly approached, supporting the young master who had been kicked away.
His steps were light, and his hands, supporting the young master, were continuously channeling magic to heal him.
When their eyes met Eve’s, the older man’s gaze carried a trace of disdain.
“A woman without visible magical aura can mess with you all so easily, and yet you failed to protect my young master. Once this is over, I’ll settle the score with you.”
Looking at Eve, the older man exuded confidence. He was certain Eve had used some magical tool, taking advantage of the chaos, to harm his young master.
Now he was ready, she wouldn’t succeed again.
“As for this woman, you injured my young master. This is an unforgivable crime. Believe me, I can crush you with one finger.”
“Oh?”
Eve found his words amusing.
She casually grabbed a wrist-thick stick from the ground and struck the young master’s head, the one mentioned by the old man’s mouth.
The stick instantly snapped into two, wood chips flying, blood spurting.
It all happened so fast that no one present could react.
“Come, I just touched your young master today. You want to kill me?”
“I, Eve, hate it most in life when someone threatens me.”
