Volume 1 Chapter 101
by Need_More_SleepVolume 1 + Chapter 101: Filled Up
“Are you sure? This… this doesn’t seem right, does it? I’m afraid you won’t be able to handle it.”
Eve, having washed her hands, looked hesitantly at Anna in front of her. At this moment, Anna had the look of someone ready to face death, her delicate and cold face showing an unmistakable firmness.
“It’s fine, go ahead.”
Anna gritted her teeth and said firmly.
“All right… then I’ll go ahead.”
Eve took a deep breath and pulled a delicate magic book from her pocket, placing it on the table.
“Then let’s begin…”
Anna stared at the magic book Eve had taken out, slightly stunned.
“A human magic book?”
“This book was written by me. It contains quite a few hidden techniques; if a human could comprehend them, it might allow magic studies to progress three hundred years in a flash. Unfortunately, it still seems too profound…”
Eve opened the magic book and cleared her throat seriously.
“But it’s just right as our basic teaching material. Then let’s officially start the lesson.”
Anna sat upright, and in the blink of an eye, five or six hours had passed. The sky was beginning to brighten.
The crisp chirping of birds indicated that the two of them had stayed up all night. Eve, who was teaching, still seemed energetic, but Anna, who had been listening and thinking the whole time, looked a bit lethargic.
A massive amount of magical knowledge had overwhelmed her like a flood. At this point, she was completely “filled up” by Miss Eve… filled up with knowledge.
“How is it? Can you understand it?”
Eve closed the magic book and looked at Anna, who was nearly falling asleep.
Anna had almost reached her limit, but she gritted her teeth and persevered, not for any other reason, just to learn a little more.
So that the next time she encountered Leah, she wouldn’t be embarrassed by her shoulder throw again.
This obsession was something Anna would probably never forget in her life—the trauma of Leah’s shoulder throw.
“Almost.”
Anna took a deep breath, patted her own cheeks, and forced herself to wake up a little.
“If you can fully grasp what I taught today, your magic level should improve somewhat.”
Listening to Eve, Anna nodded silently, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
“But let me make it clear first, after increasing your strength, you’re not allowed to cause trouble for Leah.”
Hearing this, Anna paused slightly, then looked at Eve with a puzzled expression.
“Are you kidding… I’m just trying to protect myself. Besides, I feel that this little bit of knowledge isn’t enough for me to defeat your monstrous daughter.”
There was a hint of sorrow in Anna’s tone. She was telling the truth—she just didn’t want to be embarrassingly thrown down by Leah again. She was a well-behaved dragon; she wouldn’t stir up trouble lightly.
“That’s good then.”
Eve patted her chest with relief.
“What do you mean, ‘that’s good’…”
Anna shot Eve an annoyed glance and got up, stretching toward the misty morning lake view.
However, she overlooked one thing: her injuries hadn’t fully healed, and stretching now would only make things worse.
The pleasant hum of stretching hadn’t even begun before it turned into a piercing scream.
As Anna fell to the ground, her heart completely broke.
After spending the whole night studying magic with Eve, she had hoped her shattered confidence could be rebuilt. But feeling the bone-piercing pain in her body, Anna’s resolve shattered again.
She was a dragon! Being beaten so thoroughly by a human girl, didn’t she care about her dignity?
“You haven’t fully recovered yet; you shouldn’t move around carelessly.”
Eve hurried forward and helped Anna sit up. Anna’s expression was full of frustration. Although she was in pain, feeling Eve’s gentle care helped her calm down a little.
Since the opportunity was rare, she might as well have Eve help her treat the injuries a little.
It would also save her from crying out in pain.
“Um…”
“Ah, it’s already this late.”
Eve glanced at the slowly rising sun outside and couldn’t help but frown slightly.
Before Anna could speak, Eve was already getting up to leave.
This left Anna extremely embarrassed. The words she wanted to say were only half-formed, and it was neither suitable to keep them in nor to speak them out.
“I have to go back to make breakfast for the children. If they find I’m not home, they’ll get suspicious.”
Eve packed her things, her tone carrying a hint of urgency.
“And me?”
Anna asked softly, looking at Eve with a pleading expression in her eyes.
“I’ll come see you again tomorrow night. Take care until then.”
Eve patted Anna’s head and left without looking back. She really didn’t have time. Leah would definitely go work at the Empire’s trade guild today; she couldn’t stop her.
No matter what, she couldn’t let her beloved daughter go to work hungry.
Also, Eve needed to handle trade route security issues herself.
After all, her beloved daughter was still a child, with little experience handling extreme situations. Things like wild beasts and demon-kind were minor threats, but still dangerous.
So Eve planned to clear those risks first for her daughter.
Her beloved daughter only needed to slack off at work; Eve would take care of the dangers.
Thinking this, Eve quickly left the cave where Anna was, leaving behind only a graceful departing figure for the stunned Anna.
“She… just left so gracefully?”
Anna was dumbfounded.
She had always thought that being able to keep Eve around for a whole night would already prove her importance in Eve’s heart.
After all, which girl would stay overnight at someone’s home unconditionally? It must mean she had feelings for you.
But after Eve spent the whole night filling Anna up, she didn’t care that Anna was still in pain, said she had to go back to care for other girls, and just left…
Anyone would find that hard to accept.
Even though it sounded strange…
“What charm does that girl have to make you so obsessed… Am I not good-looking? I’m also your daughter, I can do it too!”
“Hey! Come back and keep me company!”
Once she confirmed Eve had left, Anna finally dared to shout what was in her heart.
To be honest, she felt uncertain even as she shouted.
She was afraid Eve might actually hear her, or worse, that Eve would never hear it in her lifetime…
Anna couldn’t understand it. Eve was a witch—a powerful grand witch. Even if she always seemed unaware of her own talent, she couldn’t be bored enough to raise a daughter just for fun, right?
Did she really treat her as a human?
Besides, what was so good about that girl…
Right, she did a shoulder throw on her.
Besides being very strong, what else is good? Girls shouldn’t always think about fighting and killing, it’s too rough.
“I really want to see… what kind of daughter could make you leave me behind like this…”
