    Chapter 195: Records

Gloria’s house was huge, but Mi Xiaoliu was terrified.

Though the place had been unoccupied for a while, every piece of furniture was meticulously covered to prevent dust. No one could afford to clean all their properties regularly.

Sunshine City seemed to be a frequent stop for Gloria’s family—decorations, photos, and stuffed animals were scattered around. But Gloria wouldn’t let Mi Xiaoliu touch any of them.

The morning appeared peaceful. Gloria didn’t take the chance to torment Mi Xiaoliu—for once.

But in reality, she’d sneaked into Mi Xiaoliu’s room last night.

Pinching her nose, she’d dangled Mi Xiaoliu’s sock over her face before dropping it—delighting in the reaction.

Unfortunately, Mi Xiaoliu didn’t wake up. The sock barely smelled. Disappointing.

“First, what I know about you. LV4 Physical Enhancement, LV4 Spatial Manipulation, unknown flame abilities, creating miracle herbs, evading surveillance, and pinpoint accuracy within 100 meters…”

Normally, someone with these skills wouldn’t need protection.

“Anything to add? Old enemies? Assassination attempts?” He leaned in, whispering: “I know the authorities might be shady. But trust me—I’m from the Lasvedo Family. Descendants of heroes.”

Most wouldn’t recognize the name, but “heroic lineage” sounded impressive enough.

“Lasvedo?” Sasha, freshly awake, tense up. She studied the man through Mi Xiaoliu’s eyes.

    Familiar, but not close.

Why the hell is the Master here?!

After a pause, Sasha advised: “Master, the Lasvedos are an elite police family—usually clean, but never assume. Tell him Easter is after you, but say it’s because you killed their researchers.”

    “Easter,” Mi Xiaoliu repeated.

“Understood.” Nikita nodded, unfazed. No follow-up questions.

This made Sasha wary. “Master, don’t fully trust him yet.”

    “Mmm.”

    —

     The Ability: “Recording”

“My ability: LV4 Recording. Not a photographic memory—it’s unique to the Lasvedo Family. After awakening, I can ‘record’ one substance to manipulate. But I must see it first, and my range limits what I can copy.”

    He pointed to his eyes.

A faint glow emanated from his pupils, orange rings swirling around them—eerily familiar to Mi Xiaoliu.

This wasn’t a secret. Anyone who knew the Lasvedo Family recognized it.

Seeing Mi Xiaoliu’s blank stare, Nikita switched to a simpler analogy.

“Like a magic pact in cartoons. Contract with fire? You control fire. Water? Dirt? Plastic? But only one substance—permanently.”

No drawbacks… unless you picked poorly. Rumor had it one ancestor chose feces—even the family head treated him with respect.

The versatility made it hard to identify Lasvedos among other superpowered police officers.

So why is he explaining this? Does he suspect something?

    Sasha grew uneasy.

    —–

     His Contract: “Life Force”

“Mine’s abstract: ‘Life Force’—nutrients, vitality. I sense all living beings within 7 km and manipulate them… somewhat. But stick within 100 meters of me in public.”

He pulled out a potted aloe vera.

Under his command, it shot up like bamboo, outgrowing the pot and towering over Mi Xiaoliu.

Then it bowed—despite having no joints.

“Plants are easy. No brains.” He shrugged. “Can’t demo more here—the place is too expensive.”

He handed Mi Xiaoliu a handful of seeds, having already sprinkled some on her yesterday.

“Carry these. If you wander off, I can still reach you within 7 km. I’ll also sense injuries.”

He couldn’t showcase destructive power—his sister-in-law’s house cost more than his entire family’s wealth.

    Imagine blue-silver vines entangling enemies…

Mi Xiaoliu patted the giant aloe, her mind drifting.

If this were cabbage, we’d save so much money.

    —

    Nikita pulled out a notebook.

“Here’s the plan. Morning: I’m free—can take you home. Afternoon: Fishing. Stand by the shore, don’t play in the water. Evening: Staying over. You’ll sleep in Gloria’s guest room again—”

“Wow, so flexible.” Gloria materialized behind him, her tone anything but respectful. “Since when do bodyguards boss their charges around? LV4 skills, LV5 attitude—who the hell hired you?”

What’s next? Bringing this kid along on dates?

This wasn’t protection—it was house arrest with extra steps.

    “I’m busy,” Nikita said.

“Doing what?” Gloria snatched his notebook.

“Busy having fun.” Deadpan. “Go apologize to your mom if you’re bored.”

Gloria scowled. “She’s insufferable. I smoked once, and she interrogated me about a boyfriend. Yells at me in front of friends, sends Shen Qing to spy when I sleep over at girls’ places—and when I ditch Shen Qing? She unleashes Nuomi to sniff me out!”

Traitor mutt. Selling me out for treats.

“She cares,” Nikita said—the default adult response.

“Whatever. Leave the kid with me. I’ll handle the fallout.” Gloria slung an arm around Mi Xiaoliu’s neck.

    Mi Xiaoliu: [Shivering intensifies.]

Without this brat, I’ll die of boredom. Only one month left to bully him (her)—gotta enjoy it!

“You can come with us,” Nikita offered.

Gloria ignored him, shoving Mi Xiaoliu aside to hiss gleefully.

“Spill. Did the Feds uncover your alt identity? Serves you right for playing vigilante! Call me ‘Mom’, and I’ll save you. ‘Dad’ works too—quick!”

She wouldn’t actually help—no skills like her mom’s. But humiliating Mi Xiaoliu? Priceless.

    —

    Speak of the devil.

    The front door burst open.

Nikita stepped back—having left the gate unlocked to avoid tipping Gloria off.

    “What are you doing?”

The Board Chairwoman stood there, holding the leash of the traitor dog, flanked by bodyguards. Her gaze locked onto Gloria—and the terrified Mi Xiaoliu in her chokehold.

So much for keeping your distance from this dangerous kid.

    “Woof!”

Nuomi bounced excitedly, too well-trained to yank the leash.

Finding Gloria again overjoyed him—so much so that he peed on the spot.
