    Chapter 190: Release From Prison

“You broke out because the pads here ‘weren’t good’? Bullshit! You think I should buy that?!”

The warden of the prison slammed his desk, glaring at Mi Xiaoliu, who sat there innocently licking a lollipop.

    So scary.

Mi Xiaoliu hid behind Humpback Whale, gripping his coat.

“Why are you yellin’ so loud?!” Humpback Whale also slammed the desk—hard enough to drive the legs five centimeters into the floor.

The warden of the prison instantly cooled off, realizing his mistake.

Even if every guard in the facility ganged up, they might not beat this little girl. In hindsight, juvenile detention was practically a vacation for her. Infuriating.

The incident itself wasn’t major. Mi Xiaoliu had a private cell, and she was the only one who escaped—and she’d returned voluntarily. Aside from Heli having to pay for the damaged wall, no real harm was done.

But did this kid even understand her situation?

Yes, she was important. But certain factions were itching to exploit her abilities, just waiting for a slip-up. The only reason she lived comfortably now was because of Humpback Whale and Speed Force’s efforts.

Working in juvie or the police force, you saw it all the time—reckless teens causing chaos, blind to the adults cleaning up their messes.

    —

“Master, I told you not to listen to that white-haired brat. See? She didn’t even go to the concert—just dragged you back!” Sasha grumbled. “Now that you’re technically not Night Owl’s, Easter’s definitely making a move.”

    “Mm.”

    “Ugh…”

After the Third Fractal incident, Easter had stayed quiet—even though Mi Xiaoliu hadn’t relocated. Maybe their data breach spooked them. Or maybe they’d learned she was under Night Owl’s protection and Night Owl wasn’t to be trifled with.

    But the biggest factor?

That thing in Mi Xiaoliu’s possession.

Was Easter scared of it? Hell yes. Everyone should be. But it was theirs originally—of course they’d want it back. And even without that, they’d never let their perfect test subject go.

Things had spiraled beyond Sasha’s predictions. At this point, she just hoped the Federation would take Mi Xiaoliu seriously. Forget dismantling Easter—just send some heavy hitters to guard her.

Somehow, after who-knows-what backroom deals or arguments, Mi Xiaoliu’s sentence remained unchanged.

    —

    On the Release day.

Yiwen’s family—plus Heli—arrived by car to pick her up.

Just one week apart, and Yiwen already missed Mi Xiaoliu. After finally confronting her feelings, she’d had to send her back.

Now, they’d resume their… unconventional relationship. Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined this.

    Life’s short. Why not try?

Lately, Yiwen had two recurring dreams:

    1. Mi Xiaoliu pissing her off.

    2. Mi Xiaoliu as her Queen…

Bit by bit, even as she nursed old grudges, Yiwen was accepting the truth.

If her brain commanded her to simp for Mi Xiaoliu, how could her mech-pilot self disobey?

But with Heli around, she couldn’t get close.

And facing Heli? Guiltier than ever.

Heli immediately grabbed Mi Xiaoliu, inspecting her like a worried mother. “Juvie food’s either crap or malnutrition. You lost three pounds! And not a centimeter taller!”

The guards shifted awkwardly. Hard to argue when Mi Xiaoliu looked that fragile.

It’s a prison, not a resort. Do you expect gourmet meals?

Meanwhile, Toby—tagging along—could not stop staring. He’d just realized Mi Xiaoliu was a girl. No wonder she got along with Sis.

Not love at first sight, but she was pretty. And appreciating beauty? That’s just biology.

    So this was Mom’s hint…

Flustered, he looked away, burying himself in his phone. At his age, he’d just outgrown the “girls icky” phase—but talking to them was still terrifying.

Some guys went through all of school without female friends. Could that be me?

He used to play games with Mi Xiaoliu. Now? He’d probably stammer just saying hi.

    —

Back home, Heli took over the kitchen, with Raven assisting. Yiwen finally seized her chance—grabbing Mi Xiaoliu’s hand and dragging her to her dad’s secret room.

All the “adults-only” items had been tossed out by Yiwen—thankfully Raven had intervened before she could throw out the waifu figurines too. Otherwise, even if they managed to find her father again, their reunion would’ve immediately turned into a plaintiff-defendant relationship in court.

“Xiaoliu, where’s that machine you had before?” Yiwen finally seized the chance to ask, gripping her shoulders.

    “Give it to the Boss.”

“Part of that was mine! You just handed it over?!” Yiwen shook her furiously, teeth gritted. “Whatever. Do you even know what that thing was?”

    Mi Xiaoliu shook her head.

“Then where did you get it from?”

Mi Xiaoliu ran out and returned with her notebook, spending ten seconds sketching a crude portrait for Yiwen.

    “This.”

[Image: Xiaoliu’s drawing—a rough but recognizable figure.]

    Yiwen frowned.

Abstract as it was, something about it reminded her of… her dad.

“Was he squinty-eyed? With powers kinda like mine…?”

    Mi Xiaoliu nodded.

    Yiwen’s eyes widened.

Dad’s alive? And for some reason gave Mi Xiaoliu a teleportation device?

What the hell was he thinking?!

Because of him, she’d ended up lost in the forest—face planted in an ass, forced to drink foot-wash water—

Well… those weren’t the worst parts. The real suffering was testing wild berries for poison.

“When did you see him? Do you know where he is now?”

    “Red Prince…”

The conversation that followed left Yiwen deeply unsettled.

Dad was with the Red Prince? And Mi Xiaoliu chased after him because of that?

    Why?

The Red Prince should be dead—she’d stabbed his corpse enough times to be sure.

Alive or not, why would Dad be with him? Was that even really Dad? But Mi Xiaoliu’s drawing and the power description matched.

Yiwen didn’t question why Mi Xiaoliu would chase Red Prince—after he’d made her fall from the third floor, revenge was understandable.

If Dad’s somewhere in Sunshine City… Why hasn’t he come home?

    Her thoughts spun chaotically.

Summer break was almost over, and she’d barely touched her homework. Maybe she’d have to skip school again—but what excuse could she give Mom this time?

The more she thought, the more frustrated she grew.

Her gaze drifted back to Mi Xiaoliu, who stood perfectly still, hands behind her back, watching Yiwen with those big blue eyes.

Her sleek black hair cascaded down, contrasting beautifully with her pale yellow sundress that reached her knees. Light pink sandals peeked out beneath, her bare toes rosy even without polish.

First time seeing Mi Xiaoliu in a dress… She looks so pretty.

Wait—no! This little brat’s the reason I’m stressed in the first place!

She owes me a mood boost.

“Xiaoliu, I can’t reach that belt on the top shelf. Can you get it for me?”

Yiwen—who was 170cm tall and could fly—said this while handing a stepladder to 154cm Mi Xiaoliu.

Sasha immediately warned: “Master, DON’T fall for it!”

    Mi Xiaoliu: “Yiwen can fly.”

“I suddenly contracted a no-flying disease today.” Yiwen smiled sweetly.

Mi Xiaoliu worriedly offered a miracle herb.

    Yiwen: “…”

Wait, aren’t these supposed to be weekly rare items? Where’d she get this?!

    An accidental earth-shattering revelation.

Yiwen quickly pushed it back. “It’ll heal on its own in a day—no need to waste something so precious. And never take these out in front of others, got it?”

    “Mm.”

“Now, help me get that belt down?” Yiwen pressed eagerly.

Sasha: “BULLSHIT! Since when does that disease exist?! And she’s TALLER than you, Master! DON’T TRUST HER—SHE’S SCHEMING!”

    In truth? Yiwen was scheming.

But could you blame her? Her brain was piloting her like a mech.

Seeing Mi Xiaoliu in a dress for the first time, Yiwen just had to watch her climb that ladder and look up—

Damn this brain forcing me, an upstanding girl, to do things I don’t wanna do!

Under Yiwen’s expectant gaze, Mi Xiaoliu painstakingly lifted the ladder… and used it to knock the belt down before handing it over.

    Yiwen: “…”

Screw subtlety. She went straight for the kill.

    Stripes. Nice.

But not as nice as that view would’ve been.

    Sasha: 🥜😈 (This b*tch—!)
