Chapter 140: Let Misha Meet Her

The interrogation room—this time, quite a few people had been caught.

“You won’t get a single piece of information out of me,” said a boy, no more than sixteen years old, handcuffed and looking contemptuously at the incompetent feds.

Officer Chen shook his head. “It’s fine. The blond kid who was with you has already confessed everything. You just need to wait for your sentence. We just want to confirm your attitude toward your mistakes.”

The boy’s expression grew even more disdainful at this cliché he’d seen countless times on TV.

“Bobby is my best friend. He would never betray the organization.”

In another interrogation room, a boy named Bobby sat.

Bobby: “Yes, it was all them. I was forced by them. Not only that, they also planned to… Officer, this is my first offense, I was totally fooled by bad people. The punishment won’t be too harsh, right?”

Some had been caught, but many others had managed to escape early when the clown girl set off the smoke bomb—mostly those responsible for providing cover.

A total of fourteen appliances suspected to be servers had been seized. The “Tian Xing Dao” members tasked with transporting these items were all weak-willed, a slightly tougher interrogation was enough to get them to confess everything. They were all expendable.

This made things more complicated. As expected, the server was not at the central plaza.

Naturally, barring any surprises, the computer case the black-clothed girl had stolen was also a decoy.

    —————————

Yiwen poked her head out of the rubble and shook the dirt off. Looking around, she saw the entire construction building in pieces, lying sideways across the site. There was no sign of the black-clothed woman or the giant.

“Uncle Humpback Whale?” Yiwen called out through her earpiece, but got no response.

    No way?

Shocked, Yiwen quickly flew over the wreckage to dig for survivors.

Was the incident with the windmill not even her full strength? Could superpower drugs really reach this level?

But if it wasn’t drugs, why would someone with such strong abilities take other superpower drugs and risk developing the Black Element syndrome?

Beside her, a thick arm burst out of the rubble.

The giant, bleeding from the head, broke the rebar pinning him down. His wrestler mask was crushed by the friction, revealing a bald head like a freshly unearthed dinosaur egg. Strands of blood mixed with dirt dripped from his forehead to his chin, but it was only a superficial injury.

With a thick finger, he dug into his ear, extracting tiny mechanical fragments mixed with blood from under his nail. This was the crushed remains of his earpiece—which was why many special police officers didn’t like wearing them.

Although only superficial, if the building had not simply fallen but had merged with his body as in previous spatial murder cases, there would have been no way to dodge something so large.

    That girl was truly dangerous.

This time, he had lost—lost to a middle school girl.

“Where is she?” He accepted Yiwen’s help and emerged from the rubble.

“She probably ran away.” Before being hit, Yiwen had seen a black shadow quickly escaping.

    “Should we chase her?”

Even if they caught up, they probably couldn’t beat her. So frustrating…

The giant shook his head. “What she took is probably a fake server. Let’s focus on the main mission.”

Once they found the real server, as long as Amari Yota didn’t foolishly delete all the Easter data they’d recovered, they could restore the deleted ability user data from recent years and use the highest-level system to uncover the black-clothed woman’s true identity.

    ———————-

About two kilometers away, inside a company building.

Ziwu Yuanyang Yue (A type of Chinese weapon) locked the arms of the Red Prince, slamming him onto the desk. The once-neat office was completely overturned by their endless fight, papers scattered everywhere.

One could only imagine what the employees would think when they arrived the next day.

The lightweight, Bagua-style weapon was wielded by Wei Shi with a series of sharp whistles through the air. Anyone unaware might think he had a personal grudge against the Red Prince.

The Red Prince pulled out a suppressed pistol, firing while retreating to create distance.

A bullet headed straight for Wei Shi’s forehead, but he caught it barehanded.

One bullet hit the company’s unshut heater, causing a chain explosion, but the distance was too great to do any real harm to Wei Shi. The automatic fire suppression system was triggered.

Another bullet ricocheted off the small metal part of an office chair, rebounding to hit Wei Shi in the back of the head.

Like being flicked on the forehead, the bullet did no damage. The fire sprinklers only slightly hindered his movements.

From any angle, the Red Prince stood no chance of winning, but he showed no sign of nervousness. His face, completely unshielded, smiled at his opponent.

“To be fair, it was you guys who stole our stuff. Why are you attacking us first as if it were justified?”

Wei Shi chuckled. “A little girl picks up a toy, and two shady, suspicious uncles start following her—one of whom is a child-killing pervert.”

He really didn’t understand why Mi Xiaoliu had to steal that computer case, but he had brought his feather duster this time just in case.

“You must have looked into our mission,” the Red Prince said, narrowing his eyes as he reloaded his pistol.

“You should know it’s just a regular computer,” Wei Shi narrowed his eyes as well. “There are no rules saying we have to cooperate with your operations.”

“Okay, okay, I lost. You don’t really want to keep fighting like this, do you? After all, neither of us can kill the other.” The Red Prince stood by the window and pointed downstairs.

A police car had stopped below—clearly, they’d noticed the explosion.

They were fighting right next to the central plaza, with police everywhere nearby.

Wei Shi put away his weapon, not out of concern for the police, but because of the owl staring at them from outside the window.

The Red Prince also holstered his gun and walked past Wei Shi, one leg resting on the windowsill. “Speaking of which… you’ve actually stayed in this city for so long. Is the person who killed your wife and daughter here?”

Wei Shi drew his blade again, but when he turned, the other man was already gone.

Couldn’t resist one last jab before leaving, that bastard.

    ……

    ……

“You absolutely won’t believe what I just saw. That ‘princess’ actually used a building as a weapon—over a dozen stories high! Disappeared in an instant, then reappeared just as suddenly. It’s a shame you didn’t see it.” The clown girl’s astonished voice came through the earpiece.

At the time, she’d been following from a distance, hoping to catch her off guard. If she could scratch that pretty face, it would’ve been a win.

She’d even found the perfect opportunity, until a building suddenly vanished and then crashed down. She quietly retreated and started wondering if the reason the princess had so many negative reviews was because she always used area-of-effect attacks, wiping out large groups at once and upsetting her employers.

“Hmm, I’d really like to see that,” the Red Prince rubbed his sore arm. “Are you still following her?”

“She’s super fast, but she definitely can’t shake me off. It’s just a matter of time before I catch up.” After a pause, the clown girl asked, confused, “Speaking of which, you said what she took was just a regular computer. Why am I still chasing her?”

Even though she was extremely annoyed by this girl stealing their job, shouldn’t the priority right now be retrieving the server? Maybe “Tian Xing Dao” has already moved the server somewhere else.

It’s not very rational to fight such a monster, is it? Even though she’s confident a black shot could take her out, the key point is that Night Owls aren’t allowed to kill each other unless the boss personally orders it.

“I’m just a bit curious about her. I heard she can use some kind of flame that counters superpowers?”

The feds’ records are easy to look up if you have the means.

“That’s too ridiculous,” the clown girl didn’t believe it. “If you told me she had some high-tech gear that shoots that kind of flame, I might barely believe you.”

The Red Prince stroked the stubble on his chin and thought for a couple of seconds. “Keep following her. Crow’s already on his way… let Misha meet her.”

“Huh?” The clown girl made a puzzled noise.
