Chapter 139: Getting Beaten Up Just For Watching

“I’m still following her. She’s very fast and heading toward Zone C,” Yiwen reported as she chased through the air.

Unfortunately, among those currently available, she was the only special police officer in the bureau capable of keeping up with the black-clothed girl.

Today, “Tian Xing Dao” really went all out. Just those responsible for transporting items suspected to be the server and drawing fire numbered over a hundred—and that’s not even counting those providing cover.

Where did they get so many expendable people?

“Hmm… you two keep flirting, everyone else continues capturing Tian Xing Dao,” the dispatcher said.

“Are you serious?” Yiwen’s face twisted beneath her mask. “Don’t you guys even know what the thing carrying the server actually looks like?”

She hated working on missions with insufficient intel.

“No, we’re not sure. There are some suspicions. Previously, Amari Yota stole several robots from Sunshine City. There are still six missing robots that haven’t been found—probably because their appearances have been altered. In theory, each of them is more suitable for carrying the server than a computer.”

But that’s just a theory. After all, the superpowers Amari Yota displayed are the kind that don’t play by the rules.

“Robots that big just disappeared?” Yiwen grumbled under her breath.

But the microphone was right by her mask, so the dispatcher heard her clearly.

“The largest of the six missing robots is about the size of a laptop, and the smallest is about the size of a mouse.”

“Oh, that’s fine then,” Yiwen said.

Something that small could have more computing power than a computer? It seemed the technology in her hometown was truly impressive—too bad it benefited others.

“Force her toward Bett Street. The whole street was set on fire by ‘Tian Xing Dao’ and is temporarily uninhabited. Go all out. Any damages will be covered by public funds,” the dispatcher said.

In other words, as long as no one gets hurt, she can cause as much destruction as she wants while chasing the black-clothed girl.

For regular police, damage during law enforcement is hard to avoid, and as long as no one gets hurt, there’s no need to worry too much. But for special police officers, one slip-up could blow up someone’s house, and if things get heated, they might just grab a car off the street and start throwing it.

Imagine saving for two years to make the down payment on a car, cherishing it every day, and feeling heartbroken when the neighbor’s brat touches it—only for a special police officer to casually toss your beloved car as a projectile during a fight with criminals, while some guy named Chen yells to the news that it’s all the gas company’s fault.

Insurance companies fled Fanzui City overnight, and the gas company sent the police a stack of lawyer’s letters, a decimeter thick.

    “Bett Street?” Yiwen was confused.

Are you expecting someone who’s bad with directions to know where Bett Street is?

“On your left ahead… in school, your little boyfriend sits on your left,” the dispatcher gave an explanation that was easier to understand than right and left.

“I told you, he’s not my little boyfriend yet…”

Yiwen kicked over a streetlight and threw it like a dart toward Mi Xiaoliu’s side. With her ability, it flew past Mi Xiaoliu like a cannonball and embedded itself in a concrete wall.

It didn’t cause much damage or block her path, but it successfully forced her to change her escape direction.

When criminals are being chased by special police officers, they don’t have a set escape route—their main goal is to shake off the feds behind them. So, even small obstacles can make them change direction to avoid slowing down and getting caught.

Though she’s only been on the job for a year, Yiwen does have some experience.

“She’s running in the direction you said, and now she’s jumping upward again… one leap straight to the sixth floor? What kind of physical ability is this?” Yiwen reported, unable to resist a sarcastic remark.

In the movies, Spider-Man still needs web lines to swing between buildings, but this little brat just leaps over ten meters at a time, zigzagging between buildings across the street—completely unreasonable.

Judging by the abilities of her team’s special police officers, it’d be almost impossible to catch this little brat without a sneak attack.

“Okay, from now on, just hover in the air and observe. Don’t get too close.”

No sooner had the order come than, as Mi Xiaoliu was using buildings to propel herself upward, the glass beside her suddenly shattered.

A muscular combat giant, nearly three meters tall, burst out with arms wide open and smashed toward her like a whale crashing into red earth, slamming a forearm as thick as Mi Xiaoliu’s waist into her stomach with tetanic force.

With no foothold in midair, she couldn’t stop herself from being sent flying backward. The scenery in her peripheral vision blurred rapidly.

Her back collided with the unfinished pillars of a stalled construction site, sending both her and the exposed rebar tumbling. She smashed through two pillars before rolling several times on the ground, finally dissipating the force.

    That hurts.

She was about to vomit the ice cream Yiwen had bought for her.

The giant landed right after, like a heavy object crashing down and stirring up thick dust, giving Mi Xiaoliu no time to recover. Fists as big as tiger heads came crashing down.

Mi Xiaoliu crossed her arms. Her current physical abilities could block the attack, but the floor beneath her couldn’t. So, she was smashed down another level.

It was like hammering a nail—the only thing breaking was the floor beneath, not the nail itself.

Unfazed, the giant stuffed his hand into the hole he’d just made and tore open the floor as easily as ripping an A4 sheet of paper in half, continuing to attack Mi Xiaoliu relentlessly.

LV4 physical enhancement paired with masterful combat skills gave him clear advantages in size and weight.

But unexpectedly, after her initial setback, the black-clothed girl reacted quickly—blocking and counter attacking.

With strength not inferior to his own, she actually matched his attacks with brute force. He deliberately took a hit, but even muscles that could withstand a rocket launcher sent him pain warnings immediately.

In this situation, the best way to counter was a grappling move—the main advantage of size in close combat.

But he didn’t do that. After a few more exchanges, he carefully observed Mi Xiaoliu’s movements.

Her stance was unstable, her main hand was powerful, but her supporting hand was clumsy.

This girl’s left arm was practically disabled, barely able to block.

“I knew it,” he said firmly, staring at the brat. “You’re not that kid from last month.”

The difference in skill was too great. If it weren’t for her spatial abilities, a single grapple would have ended the fight.

This was a relatively normal situation—how could he possibly lose a pure combat match to an underage girl?

Other abilities might occasionally have some prodigies, but not physical enhancement, because awakening abilities during puberty means the body isn’t even fully developed.

Although only eight years old, Zhao Ritian is already 1.85 meters tall, with features as sharp as knives and a cold, devilish gaze that drives countless girls wild.

It’s fine to imagine that, but it’s just fantasy.

Even so, it’s still ridiculous that this little girl—rumored to be only in middle school beneath her hood—could fight him evenly, even if he was holding back.

Of course he was holding back. What kind of man would go all out against a middle school girl?

    Don’t be ridiculous.

Mi Xiaoliu rubbed her still-aching stomach and retreated, but couldn’t create distance.

The giant sneered and continued, “Who are you to Wei Shi? Call him out to see me.”

    “Wei Shi?”

Yiwen’s earpiece picked up murmurs from others.

    “Who’s that?” Yiwen asked curiously.

“A former special police officer, a LV4 physical enhancement user with a different direction than the boss. Code name Black Shark,” answered an anonymous veteran. “He and the boss have a life-and-death bond.”

    “Former?”

Yiwen noticed the word. More importantly, Wei Shi sounded like a real name, not a code name.

When a special police officer’s real name is openly discussed, it usually means he’s in a bad situation.

Most of the special police officers whose identities were exposed by Amari Yota have resigned and taken their families to start new lives elsewhere.

Some didn’t even have time to leave before being attacked by super-criminals.

Only Ninja has nothing to lose—kill one of him, and a thousand more will take his place. Even criminals with grudges against him can’t be bothered.

“Don’t forget to get the computer case back from her. There’s still a chance it’s the server,” the dispatcher reminded.

Reminded of his mission, the giant licked his lips and reached out to Mi Xiaoliu. “Hand over the computer you stole, and I’ll spare your life.”

    Dispatcher: “??”

At the same time, Ninja’s voice came over the earpiece as he fought with “Tian Xing Dao” members: “Heh heh heh, this child is terrifyingly powerful, must not be left alive…”

Have these guys forgotten they’re supposed to be righteous police officers?

Seeing Mi Xiaoliu not moving, and even about to turn and run, the giant stomped the ground and charged, his speed actually surpassing Mi Xiaoliu’s as she darted between buildings.

Seeing this, Mi Xiaoliu immediately crouched, making the giant instantly wary. He made a large, irregular dodge, trying to avoid an imminent spatial attack.

But instead, the ground beneath him suddenly vanished, and the space above him opened up.

The scene before him suddenly became open.

The unfinished building, already more than a dozen stories high, suddenly disappeared. Obeying gravity, the two plummeted toward the ground, and…

A massive object blocked the moonlight above, casting a huge shadow. The area was so large that even Yiwen, hovering at the edge of the construction site to watch, was caught in it. The biological alarm systems that humans had all but lost were ringing loudly in her mind.

“Holy sh*t?” the dispatcher uttered the universal exclamation.

Yiwen’s mouth hung open behind her mask as she watched the building fall sideways. For a long time, she couldn’t close it. At this distance, it was practically in her face—probably impossible to dodge.

Did this little brat take drugs or something?

I was just watching the show, what the hell does this have to do with me?
