Volume 5 Chapter 61
by Need_More_SleepVolume 5 + Chapter 61: Likes Playing Mahjong
“Good evening.”
Xia Yi wore a gentle smile as she offered a polite greeting.
The four elders stationed at this White Night Sect stronghold had never imagined that the Dragon Clan would dare launch a surprise attack here.
“Where is everyone? Why hasn’t anyone reported this?!” one of the White Night Sect elders roared. “Are the guards outside all eating for free?!”
“You mean these two?”
Karami pinched the heads of two White Night Sect disciples and hurled them inside as if tossing away trash.
Right in front of the elders, the bodies smashed into the mahjong table, flipping it over and scattering tiles across the floor.
“The guards were taken out?” The elder of the White Night Sect stared in disbelief.
After extracting intelligence from the two captured disciples, Xia Yi had led the Dragon Clan straight to the White Night Sect’s stronghold.
The stronghold had been carefully concealed, by ordinary means, it was impossible to enter.
But the exact method of entry had already been thoroughly disclosed by the White Night Sect disciples.
The moment they passed through the entrance, they were intercepted by members of the White Night Sect.
However, how could these people possibly stop Xia Yi?
She did not even need to act personally, Elly and Karami were more than enough to deal with those disciples.
“How did you find this place? Without a special method, it would be impossible to enter!” the most prestigious elder of the White Night Sect demanded. “You filthy outsiders could never have known how to access this stronghold. This is a secret of our White Night Sect!”
“One of your own disciples told me personally.”
“Impossible!”
“No matter how you deny it, facts remain facts.”
Xia Yi’s gaze swept across the elders.
“I heard part of your conversation just now. You’re using the banner of eliminating dissent to persecute innocent foxfolk civilians, aren’t you?”
“That has nothing to do with you! This is an internal matter of our fox clan. What right do you outsiders have to interfere in the internal affairs of Fox Hill?!”
“What nonsense are you spouting? Wasn’t it your White Night Sect that dragged our Dragon Clan into this?” Xia Yi shot back.
“You… could it be, you are…?!”
The elder recognized who Xia Yi was.
He recalled that previously, the Sect’s leader had assigned Wu Tong a highly confidential mission, to intercept and assassinate the Silver Dragon Princess visiting the Dragon Kingdom.
The silver-haired, silver-eyed dragon girl before him was most likely Xia Yi · Christie.
If the Silver Dragon Princess had appeared here, did that mean Wu Tong’s mission had failed, and that the Dragon Clan delegation had come seeking revenge?
Realizing this, the elder understood there was no longer any room to negotiate with the Dragon Clan.
“All disciples, assemble! Purify these filthy outsiders!!”
The elder raised a talisman and poured magic power into it.
The runes engraved upon it glowed, releasing a peculiar fluctuation that carried his voice outward, it appeared to function as a transmission spell.
Xia Yi had only recently learned that this was a unique form of magic native to Fox Hill, spellcraft.
By inscribing incantations onto talismans made of special magical materials, and then channeling magic into them when needed, one could activate the talisman to release a spell.
The elder’s spell summoned all the White Night Sect disciples who had been standing by within the stronghold.
“Drink the holy water! Fight these filthy outsiders to the death! Under the gaze of Lord Fox God, we shall be invincible!!”
Every disciple obeyed the elder’s command without hesitation.
Xia Yi was not surprised. Most of those within the White Night Sect had already been thoroughly brainwashed, no matter how absurd the order, they would likely follow it.
“Kill the filthy outsiders!”
“Purify this world!”
“For Lord Azure Fox God!”
They drank the holy water and entered a state of extreme exhilaration. Even when facing the legendary, fearsome Dragon Clan, their fighting spirit remained high.
“Don’t be so fierce. We’re only here to borrow something from you,” Xia Yi said lightly.
“Go to hell, Dragon Clan!”
The elder produced several more talismans and hurled them toward Xia Yi.
The talismans burst into dazzling light, radiating violent and unstable fluctuations, about to explode and unleash a devastating shockwave.
“Your Highness, be careful!”
Elly released her true dragon form, transforming into a massive green dragon and shielding Xia Yi with her body.
The talismans struck Elly and detonated, magic erupting violently and shaking her massive frame.
Yet she was famed for her thick hide and sturdy scales, this level of attack caused little real damage.
No serious injury, though the pain was very real.
That was enough to make Elly angry.
“You bastards dare try to harm Her Highness! Raaaah!!”
The green dragon opened her blood-soaked maw, gathering dragon breath before unleashing it forward.
The venomous dragon breath swept over the White Night Sect members. Those who had been charging suddenly halted, as if their bones had been ripped from their bodies, collapsing to the ground.
“My arm…!”
One of the elders had merely been brushed by Elly’s dragon breath. Instantly, the affected area turned black-purple, all sensation lost, his body unable to move. He could only cry out to the other elders for help.
“Help me, quickly!!”
Seeing that even their strongest elder had been reduced to this state by a mere touch of dragon breath, the remaining elders understood they stood no chance against the Dragon Clan. Without hesitation, they abandoned him and fled.
“Your Highness, allow us to deal with these bullies who prey on the weak,” Karami volunteered eagerly.
“Mm.” Xia Yi nodded in approval.
Karami released his true dragon form as well. Though he now served as a civil official, in his earlier years he had fought on the battlefield and earned numerous achievements.
“Roaaar!!”
Karami’s dragon roar ruptured the fleeing fox elders’ eardrums, causing blood to pour from their orifices and forcibly slowing their escape.
He soared into the sky and then dove toward the ground like a predator descending upon prey.
Though I am old, my dragon claws remain sharp!
Boom!
Karami’s claws slammed down. The sheer force of the Dragon Clan’s power made the earth ripple like the surface of the sea, waves of impact surging outward and engulfing all the fox elders, killing them instantly.
As for the rest of the battle, there was little worth mentioning. The Dragon Clan dispatched the remaining White Night Sect disciples with ease.
They were never a match for dragons.
The stronghold was quickly cleared.
The White Night Sect elder, barely clinging to life, lay on the ground, his consciousness fading.
Xia Yi had no intention of letting him die just yet. She called Elly over and had the poison within his body neutralized.
Though she did not fully understand the reason, Elly complied.
For the moment, the elder survived.
“Your Highness, what are you planning to do?” Elly asked curiously.
Xia Yi replied cheerfully, “If a White Night Sect elder were to die just like this, it would be rather wasteful. We haven’t finished extracting his value yet.”
