Volume 4 Chapter 76
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 76: A Suicide Charge
The Northern Rebellion Army watched as Elly continued to defeat his subordinates one after another.
It was obvious to anyone that this green dragon possessed extraordinary strength. With the current power of the Northern Rebellion Army, overcoming the Dragon Royal Family was, frankly speaking, exceedingly difficult.
Now was no longer the time to hesitate or hold back—
it was time to begin…
to use any means necessary.
“This is the path you chose yourself, Silver Dragon Princess…!”
The leader of the Northern Rebellion Army revealed a ferocious, ruthless gaze.
Rebellion always required reasons and pretexts. If they could kill the Dragon Clan’s royal princess here, they would be able to force the entire Far North Lands to stand in opposition to the Dragon Royal Family. This would, without question, be the most effective way to stir up the rebellious sentiments of the northern dragons to their fullest extent.
If the Dragon Clan’s royal blood were shed by the Northern Rebellion Army, it would undoubtedly inspire even more people to join their ranks.
It would also prove to everyone that the Dragon Royal Family was not invincible.
At the same time, the death of the heir would deal a devastating blow to the Silver Dragon Queen’s mental state.
This was simply a perfect bargain with multiple gains at once!
Today, no matter the cost, the Silver Dragon Princess had to die here!!
“You lackey who serves the Dragon Royal Family with your life!” the Northern Rebellion Army leader declared loudly. “Even if your strength surpasses ours, don’t think for a moment that you can make us submit!! The Northern Rebellion Army will overthrow the tyrannical rule of the Dragon Royal Family. On this land, we will build a kingdom that belongs to us! For this dream, what does it matter if we give our lives?!”
His voice did manage to rally some morale.
It seemed that in their daily lives, the Northern Rebellion Army had been thoroughly indoctrinated with such ideas, allowing them to rekindle their fighting spirit once more.
“For the ideal kingdom!!”
“Down with the tyrannical rule of the Dragon Royal Family!!”
“We, the Northern Rebellion Army, will resist until our very last breath!! We will never bow to evil forces!!”
Elly felt utterly speechless toward this group. She thought the princess was absolutely right.
There was simply no need to reason with these obstinate dragons.
They would only try to drag their opponents down to their own level of intellect, then use their so-called abundant experience to defeat them.
The most effective way to deal with people like this was—
fists.
A bigger fist was the only true truth.
“What a bunch of hopelessly stubborn fools. Since you insist on committing such outrageous treason, prepare yourselves to accept judgment!!”
Elly soared into the air, then plummeted from the sky like a cannonball, crashing straight into the midst of the Northern Rebellion Army.
“W-What?!”
This tactic, having a green dragon charge alone deep into enemy lines, instantly shocked the Northern Rebellion Army.
“Don’t just stand there, attack!” someone from the Northern Rebellion Army shouted.
Only then did they all surge toward Elly together, launching their assault.
But Elly suddenly slammed both of her claws into the ground, channeling the full power of the dragon clan straight into the earth beneath her.
“Earthwave!”
Elly’s attack converged at a single point deep underground before erupting like an explosive. The resulting impact shattered the ground into fragments, as if it were the surface of the sea. Broken stones surged outward like waves, carrying violent shockwaves that spread from the center in successive pulses.
In one blow, all the Northern Rebellion Army members who had rushed toward her were blasted away.
They were unable to withstand such an impact, many of them even coughing up blood.
So strong!
Once again, Elly’s power shattered the understanding of every dragon present whether from the Northern Rebellion Army or the Northern Mining Field.
This was clearly a level of strength far beyond anything they would normally encounter. Someone like Elly, no matter where she went, would undoubtedly be a dominant and influential figure in her own right.
Yet such a person was merely a maid of the Dragon Royal Family!
Princess, did you see that? I didn’t disgrace you!
On the surface, Elly maintained a stern, expert-like demeanor, expressionless and composed. But inside, she was bursting with excitement.
She believed that since the princess had not personally stepped in, it must have been her intention to let Elly establish authority. If that was the case, then she absolutely had to put on a spectacular display.
I’ll just imitate Sister Lucia’s usual cool and imposing style.
“What are you still standing around for?!”
Elly turned toward the dragons of the Northern Mining Field and shouted loudly:
“The enemy’s formation is in chaos—follow me and charge!!”
At Elly’s roar, the dragons of the Northern Mining Field finally snapped out of their daze. Indeed, they could not continue standing by and watching.
Now that they had the support of the Dragon Royal Family, they should join forces and drive the Northern Rebellion Army back.
“Charge!!”
“Crush the Northern Rebellion Army!!”
“For the Dragon Royal Family!!”
They were quite perceptive. Immediately, they chose to side with Xia Yi and launched a charge against the Northern Rebellion Army.
Before Elly’s arrival, the dragons of the Northern Mining Field truly could not stand against the Northern Rebellion Army. But now things were different—the tide of battle had turned, and a counteroffensive began.
The dragons of the Northern Rebellion Army were steadily being defeated.
“Even if we die today, we must kill the Dragon Clan’s princess! Brave comrades, no retreat! Launch the charge with me!!”
The leader of the Northern Rebellion Army seemed to have made up his mind, issuing an utterly reckless order. He forbade any retreat, instead gathering their remaining strength for a final struggle.
This was nothing short of a suicidal charge. Even the dragons of the Northern Mining Field felt that the Northern Rebellion Army leader had gone mad.
As he led the last of his forces in a charge toward Xia Yi, their numbers dwindled rapidly along the way.
“Hmph. How laughably naive.”
Elly was utterly disdainful.
Did they really think that reaching the princess would give them a chance?
This was nothing more than courting death!
She moved at nearly her fastest speed, returning to Xia Yi’s side to reinforce her defense.
“What…?!”
The leader of the Northern Rebellion Army wore an expression of utter shock, as though all his efforts had gone to waste at the final moment.
“Dragon Breath!”
Elly unleashed the green dragon’s breath.
The dragon breath of the green dragon clan differed from that of other dragons, it was highly toxic and extremely corrosive. Once struck, it was practically a slow death sentence.
For reasons unknown, the Northern Rebellion Army leader did not attempt to dodge or resist. Instead, he took the attack head-on.
The poisonous dragon breath corroded his body.
“Ugh—AAAH!!”
Xia Yi frowned slightly, sensing that something was not quite right.
The Northern Rebellion Army leader clearly had opportunities to dodge, or to block with his wings, or to reinforce his dragon-scale armor for defense… yet he chose none of these. It was as though he needed to ensure that whatever came next would not be interrupted, and therefore had to forcibly endure the dragon breath?
“Murky Dense Fog!!”
The Northern Rebellion Army leader spewed out an extremely thick fog, enveloping the entire area.
Xia Yi and Elly could see nothing at all, everyone’s vision was severely obstructed.
“It’s fine, Princess. This is nothing but a petty trick,” Elly said as she moved close to Xia Yi, remaining on high alert. “If he dares to show himself, I’ll take his life without hesitation!”
Although this move did impose certain restrictions, the gap in combat power was simply too vast. Even if the Northern Rebellion Army leader obscured their vision, any surprise attack would still be meaningless.
As long as they patiently waited for a while and let the fog disperse, wouldn’t this tactic become completely pointless?
Xia Yi truly could not understand what the enemy’s objective was.
Strangely enough, after Elly guarded Xia Yi for some time, nothing at all happened.
Elly laughed. “Looks like this Northern Rebellion Army has made some utterly meaningless and foolish moves!”
At that moment, Xia Yi suddenly realized something. Her expression changed drastically. The enemy’s true target might actually be—
“Oh no!!”
