Volume 4 Chapter 46
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 46: Marriage Alliance
In front of everyone, the Vampire Queen openly rejected the fox race’s proposal for an alliance.
In truth, a refusal was not surprising—after all, Miu Miu had only just ascended the throne.
But her manner of refusal was extremely strange, as if declaring that from this day onward, the vampire race would never cooperate with any allied race again.
It was truly baffling.
Surely the vampire race wasn’t planning to imitate the dragons—isolating themselves and standing alone against all the races of the world?
Did the vampire race even have the qualifications for that?
Yet even this was not the limit of the Vampire Queen’s outrageous statements. What she said next was even more absurd.
“Our vampire race does not reject alliances absolutely. There are exceptions…”
The Vampire Queen glanced at Xia Yi with a faint, ambiguous smile.
“If the future heir of the dragon race were to form a marriage alliance with our vampire race, then allying with the dragons is something we could certainly consider~”
“What?!”
The Vampire Queen’s words detonated the hall—instantly stirring a storm of noise among everyone present.
The vampire race wanted to enter a marriage alliance with the dragons?
And who else could the dragon race’s heir possibly refer to?
Everyone knew that the only surviving royal heir of the dragons was the Silver Dragon Queen’s sole daughter—the very same silver dragon princess attending the Vampire Queen’s coronation today: Xia Yi Christie.
“Eh…?”
Xia Yi froze in shock.
Wait—she had only been spectating quietly! Why did she suddenly get dragged into this?
A marriage alliance?
With who?
She had never heard anything like this before.
Why would Miu Miu suddenly announce something so inexplicable in front of everyone?
Xia Yi was completely bewildered.
“A marriage alliance with the dragons? Vampire Queen, are you serious?”
“Of course. Marriage is one of the best methods to solidify an alliance, isn’t it?” The Vampire Queen nodded. “If the dragons were willing, our vampire race has someone whose status matches the dragon royal heir.”
And there was only one person in the vampire race whose status matched that of the dragon royal heir—
The current Vampire Queen herself, Miu Miu Borgia.
This wasn’t even a hint anymore—everyone instantly understood her implication.
The higher races all frowned with displeasure.
The vampire looked terrified, realizing that the Queen’s words were essentially throwing their entire race into a pit of fire—inviting annihilation.
The dragons were the most feared and unique of all higher races, possessing overwhelming power. Even during the ancient Dragon Wars, they had battled the united races of the world alone, without being defeated.
Their terrifying strength was etched deeply into the memory of every race.
Thus, all the races had silently agreed upon one thing, to isolate and distance themselves from the dragons, refusing all direct cooperation.
A single race capable of opposing all others—if they were ever to gain support or submission from outsiders, they would become absolute rulers, dominating the land without question.
No one wanted to be ruled by the dragons.
Therefore, no race would ally with the dragons, much less enter a marriage alliance.
In fact, the dragons had become the common enemy of all races. A famous saying even spread across the continent.
“Interracial friendships are built on mutual fear of the dragons.”
Yet, despite being targeted so heavily, the dragons were never threatened. Their homeland lay in the far north, backed by an uninhabitable frozen wasteland where no life could survive, eliminating any fear of being attacked from behind.
And the kingdoms surrounding dragon territory were all ordinary races—like the lizardfolk—posing no higher-race threat.
Combined with the unique terrain of the Dragon Kingdom and the dragons’ overwhelming mobility, defending their homeland was effortless—they were nearly unassailable.
So despite the world’s hostility, the dragons remained proud and disdainful of all.
That was the dragons’ capital.
But the vampire race was nothing like the dragons. Their territory bordered other higher-race kingdoms and lay on open plains—offering no defensive advantage.
If the vampire race dared behave like the dragons, the surrounding higher races would join forces and crush them instantly.
The Vampire Queen’s earlier statement was an open provocation—shattering the existing balance and actively aligning the vampire race with the dragons?
“Your Majesty… are you truly serious…?!” a vampire official asked shakily.
“What? Is it not allowed?” the Vampire Queen replied. “There’s no historical precedent for a marriage alliance with the dragons—so wouldn’t creating a new chapter in history be interesting?”
“Th–this…!”
The officials were nearly in tears. They had clearly seen the fate of the Elder Council’s chairman earlier.
But the Queen’s declaration was nothing short of courting disaster. If this marriage alliance truly formed, the other higher races would absolutely unite and invade the Crimson Empire.
“And what of the dragons’ stance on this matter?” the Dwarf King asked.
All eyes immediately turned to Xia Yi.
Xia Yi herself was still dazed.
Me… marrying Miu Miu?
Miu Miu, what are you even talking about?
We’re both girls—how is that supposed to work?
“I…”
Just as Xia Yi was about to speak, someone suddenly stepped forward.
“No! Absolutely not!!”
Everyone turned again—this time surprised by the unexpected speaker.
It was the Nine-Tailed Fox Princess—Yue Liu.
Xia Yi saw the little fox looking panicked, stumbling over her words.
“You two… you can’t get married!!”
The little fox shouted anxiously:
“Anyway—it’s just too weird! My sworn enemy and a bat together?! How could I accept that?!”
She couldn’t articulate a proper reason, but she absolutely could not accept such a thing.
“Daughter…”
The Nine-Tailed Fox Emperor looked at his daughter in surprise—then suddenly understood.
Of course, if the dragons truly allied with the vampire race, the fox race, closest to dragon territory, would suffer the most.
As expected of his daughter—so concerned about their race’s future!
Riding the momentum, the Fox Emperor spoke sternly:
“Vampire Queen, it is understandable for your race to decline alliances with us or anyone else—but entering a marriage alliance with the dragons must be considered with the utmost caution.”
The other higher races showed dark, hostile expressions.
Seeing this, the Vampire Queen smiled. “No need to be so tense~ I was only making a little joke to ease the atmosphere~”
The vampires exhaled in relief.
The higher races’ expressions softened slightly.
The little fox also sighed in relief.
Only Xia Yi found it strange. Was this really Miu Miu’s personality?
The Vampire Queen’s behavior felt increasingly alien—less and less like the Miu Miu she knew.
Following the schedule, the coronation ceremony finally concluded.
As everyone began leaving the palace and heading toward the banquet hall, the Vampire Queen stood at the center of the throne room and fixed her gaze on Xia Yi.
Because of the distance and surrounding noise, Xia Yi could not hear the Queen’s words.
But she could see that the Vampire Queen intentionally mouthed something for her to read.
Four words.
When the little princess deciphered them, she froze in place.
