Volume 4 Chapter 33
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 33: Beneath The Blazing Sun
Miu Miu slipped away from the rose garden and hid in the shadows, weaving her way through the dim corridors of the Vampire Royal Palace.
The daily rhythm of the vampires was generally the reverse of other races.
What was meant to be the deep-night hours of rest for others was, for vampires, the time when their vitality surged to its peak.
Thus, the palace was brightly lit, bustling with guards and ministers everywhere. She had to move with extreme caution—being discovered was not an option.
Trying to escape through the palace’s main gate was impossible. The gate guards would spot her immediately.
It seemed that escaping from the Vampire Royal Palace was an almost insurmountable challenge.
But…
Miu Miu had long foreseen this.
During her previous departure from the palace, she had secretly carved out a hidden passage—an unseen route that allowed her to slip out of the royal grounds into the world beyond.
The preparations she once made could finally be put to use.
“I’m going… to leave this place forever,” Miu Miu whispered, barely audible.
On the surface, Miu Miu Borgia possessed the most exalted royal blood, a celebrated princess of the vampire clans. But in reality, things were far from that simple.
Her biological father, Herman Borgia, was cold and merciless. He had barely looked her in the eye her entire life.
In truth, the gaze of the Vampire King toward his own daughter was less paternal and more akin to the scrutiny of a tool—utterly indifferent to her will or wishes.
Miu Miu could feel this clearly.
Deep in her heart, she refused to acknowledge Herman as her father. To her, he was nothing but a despicable man.
If she could, she would truly wish to kill Herman.
But Miu Miu did not possess the strength nor the ability to do so.
“How is Her Highness the Princess doing now?”
“Prince Flora went to check on her. She should already be sleeping soundly, I think?”
“Is that so? Let’s hope so. If the princess could just behave herself, things would be easier. She does nothing yet lives a life of luxury—I can’t understand why she insists on causing so much trouble. She’s given us no end of headaches.”
A group of guards was chatting about the earlier incident, walking directly toward Miu Miu’s location.
Hearing their voices from outside, Miu Miu remained calm. Closing her eyes, she waited for the guards to appear before her.
At the same time, she counted silently in her mind…
Three… two… one!
The moment the guards appeared, Miu Miu vanished from her spot.
The guards noticed nothing, simply preparing to pass through the area.
In the next instant, a cluster of small bats appeared above their heads, gathering together until they reformed into a silver-haired, crimson-eyed vampire girl.
Her gaze sharpened, blood-energy surging.
“Blood Magic — Monstrous Strength!”
She delivered a fierce kick to one guard. Empowered by blood magic, the strike instantly knocked him unconscious.
The guard beside him reacted, raising his head in alarm. Upon seeing Miu Miu, he was startled and immediately reached for his weapon.
“Little Black!”
Miu Miu called out to her familiar. Little Black responded, appearing at her side as countless shadowy fragments that fused into a massive double-bladed battle-axe.
With blood magic amplifying her strength, the petite vampire princess swung the oversized axe and struck the other guard. The blow shattered not only his weapon and armor but sent him crashing to the ground, unconscious.
“Ugh…!”
The soldier flew back, collapsing lifelessly into the dirt.
Miu Miu hurried to drag the two unconscious guards into a hidden corner. Then, using blood magic, she bound their consciousnesses—ensuring they would not wake for a long time.
Next, she stripped one guard of his armor and put it on herself, disguising as a patrol soldier of the royal palace.
“Good. Now I just need to get to that secret passage.”
…
She ran into various obstacles along the way, nearly getting caught several times.
But thanks to her experience, she managed to slip through every danger and finally reached the hidden passage she had prepared earlier.
She removed the armor, lowered herself to the ground, and crawled into the passage, inching her way outward.
Time passed slowly.
Before long, Miu Miu emerged from the secret tunnel and climbed out.
Behind her rose the high walls of the Vampire Royal Palace. Ahead of her stretched the world beyond.
“This is… amazing! I escaped!!”
Miu Miu leapt off the cliff, falling through open air as she contemplated what came next.
She had left the Vampire Royal Palace. But in the outside world… Where should she go?
The only person she could call family was her mother—but her mother had long since passed away.
Now, she had no one to rely on.
No place to go.
There is no one who would welcome her.
Yet even if she were to wander forever, she would never return to that prison falsely named a palace.
Perhaps… she could try seeking out her…
A certain face surfaced in her mind, and Miu Miu couldn’t help but smile faintly.
Then it’s decided!
The vampire princess landed lightly on the ground. Standing up, she looked toward the clear moonlit night. The weather was truly beautiful.
Should she bring a gift along the way?
If she remembered correctly, that person loved sweet desserts…
The vampire girl pondered these seemingly trivial thoughts.
But before Miu Miu could walk far, something eerie happened.
The visibility in her surroundings increased at an unnatural pace—the moonlight faded, replaced by a completely different radiance.
The once serene night sky transformed in the next heartbeat into a blazing, sunlit day.
The entire world was flooded with scorching sunlight.
“Ugh…!”
Miu Miu felt her skin sear with burning pain as her strength rapidly drained away.
For vampires, such intense light was a natural enemy.
Low level vampires would be unable to resist it at all, reduced instantly to ash.
Even pure-blooded royals would suffer under it—walking beneath the sun was no simple feat for their kind.
“…Why?”
Miu Miu couldn’t understand.
Dawn was still far away. Everything had been planned, she would leave the palace under cover of night and enter the world outside.
So why had daylight suddenly overtaken the land? This unnatural shift between night and day defied all logic.
The silver haired girl could not endure the burning light and collapsed beneath the blazing sun.
“No… I can’t… not yet…”
Biting her lip, her consciousness blurred. She struggled desperately to stand.
But then, she heard a sound—one so horrifying it made her blood run cold…
