Volume 4 + Chapter 239: Advancing Alone Into Enemy Lines

Faced with Francis’s plea for mercy, Xia Lulu paid no heed and raised her foot.

Like stomping on a watermelon, she crushed down mercilessly.

The vampires’ regenerative abilities were indeed ridiculously formidable, but even they could not recover from fatal injuries such as the head and heart being destroyed, no vampire could survive that.

The vampire prince who had provoked Xia Lulu was shattered before everyone’s eyes.

Blood splattered all over the silver-haired loli, but long accustomed to slaughter, she didn’t even blink.

At this moment, Xia Lulu radiated an aura filled with sheer violence and killing intent.

This was a side she never showed in front of her daughter, one likely utterly unfamiliar to Xia Yi.

But to the dragon race, this was the Silver Dragon Queen they knew best.

With absolute power, she had suppressed all dissenting voices within the dragon race, firmly seized control of authority, ruthlessly crushed every challenger who dared defy the Dragon King’s majesty, and turned the Dragon Kingdom into her own personal domain.

    “Urgh… Aahhh!!”

The vampire soldiers, witnessing the vampire prince they believed to be immensely powerful, a vampire elite even blessed with the Divine Ancestor’s divine empowerment, being slain by the Silver Dragon Queen in such a manner, felt sheer terror and lost their will to fight.

Even the combat commander trembled, unable to look directly at Xia Lulu. He turned and issued a command that was frankly disgraceful.

“Fall back, everyone fall back! Preserve combat strength! Do not engage the Silver Dragon Queen in a futile battle!”

The terror of the Silver Dragon Queen was now deeply engraved in the minds of the vampire soldiers. None believed they could defeat her.

With their commander fallen, knowing they could not fight on, they simply retreated toward the rear.

Watching the vampire soldiers fleeing in panic, Xia Lulu paid them no mind.

She lowered her head and glanced once more at the headless corpse.

Although she had deduced that Francis was lying to her, and capturing this individual to extract information or use as a hostage might have been more beneficial…

Yet, upon hearing his words, the rage that surged within her could only be quelled by snuffing out this scum’s life.

    “Your Majesty…!”

The captain led the dragon corps, catching up from behind and assembling before Xia Lulu.

“Your Majesty, the enemy commander has been slain by you. What should our next course of action be? Please instruct us!” the captain said.

Xia Lulu did not answer. She simply stood in place, motionless, even closing her eyes as if hearing nothing.

The other dragons were uncertain what was happening, but from the earlier battle, even without the captain’s explanation, everyone understood, such combat prowess could only belong to the Silver Dragon Queen, not the Silver Dragon Princess.

Thus, naturally, no one disturbed Xia Lulu, even on this battlefield where every second counted.

    “…”

    Xia Lulu remained silent.

In truth, she wasn’t snubbing her kin, rather, a faint ache in her heart momentarily robbed her of speech.

Each time she used the Dragon King’s power, this side effect occurred, the price she paid for forcibly mastering the Dragon King’s Heart… but it was far preferable to losing her power entirely.

If back in the Violet Iris Valley, facing Dorothea, she had chosen to abandon the Dragon King’s power to live a little longer, she likely wouldn’t even have the right to come rescue her daughter in danger this time…

After a while, Xia Lulu forced herself through it, burying all pain deep within. In her position, she could not easily reveal her vulnerability.

“The main vampire combat forces are still fiercely battling the allied armies, correct?” Xia Lulu asked.

“Yes, Your Majesty. Only we dragons possess the mobility to bypass the frontline entirely and directly intercept the vampire rear forces. The other allied armies are still in a bloody struggle with the vampires. It will take them some time to break through. Your Majesty, shall we encircle them from the rear?”

The captain sought Xia Lulu’s opinion.

After all, that was the most reasonable strategy at present.

Xia Lulu’s battle with the vampire prince, resulting in the enemy commander’s death, had successfully intimidated the rear vampire troops.

Thus, launching a pincer attack with the other Anti-Vampire Alliance forces could further devastate the vampire army.

However, Xia Lulu’s response took the captain by surprise.

“No, Captain. Lead the dragon warriors. We advance together, to assault the capital of the Holy Crimson Empire,” Xia Lulu declared coldly.

    “What?!”

    The captain was stunned.

    Advancing alone into enemy territory?

Such a decision carried far too great a risk!

After all, the capital was the vampires’ final stronghold, guarded by numerous powerful elites, including the most terrifying being of this era, the Vampire Divine Ancestor.

By any measure, this seemed like a near-suicidal move.

Yet, Xia Lulu dispelled everyone’s confusion with just one sentence.

“Xia Yi is still waiting for us within the capital,” Xia Lulu said.

    “Her Highness the Princess…!”

At the mention of Xia Yi, the captain felt intense shame.

The other dragon soldiers remembered as well, during the defeat at the Adenai Campaign, it was Xia Yi who stayed behind alone to hold off the Vampire Divine Ancestor, buying everyone else a chance to survive, and that was why she had been captured.

The soldiers who should have protected the princess had instead become the ones protected…

This was a situation unbearable for every dragon soldier present.

“We must rescue Her Highness the Princess!”

“Your Majesty, we are willing to follow you to rescue Her Highness the Princess!!”

“That’s right! We must repay this debt of gratitude!!”

The dragon soldiers shouted in unison.

The captain also stepped forward, demonstrating his resolve. “Your Majesty, please allow us to accompany you to rescue Her Highness the Princess! We are willing to lay down our lives for you and Her Highness!”

    “Your fighting spirit is felt.”

Xia Lulu looked toward the direction of the capital.

“Then follow me, brave warriors of the dragon race. Break through the capital’s defenses.”

    …

    …

    Holy Crimson Empire, Capital.

    “Huh?”

Xia Yi, hiding in an alley, suddenly felt something. She looked up through the gap above the alley toward the sky.

    “Squeak?”

Little Black beside Xia Yi made a puzzled sound, as if asking what was wrong?

As for what exactly was happening, even Xia Yi herself couldn’t say for sure. For a moment, she couldn’t answer.

It was just an indistinct sense, a feeling that someone was approaching the capital, drawing closer to her.
