Volume 4 Chapter 149
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + 149: Elly, You Just Charge!
“Look!! Everyone, quick!!”
Elly suddenly began shouting, her voice ringing in everyone’s ears.
“It’s a disaster!!”
Xia Yi snapped awake instantly, scrambling to her feet and looking ahead—only to be met with utter astonishment.
Ahead of them, appearing out of nowhere, was—
A vampire army?!
Countless dark figures emerged on the plains, arrayed like a disciplined military formation. Their eyes glowed with an eerie red light in the darkness, fixed on Xia Yi’s group, exuding a vicious, murderous intent.
“Why would a vampire army suddenly appear here?!” Elly was completely baffled.
None of the other dragons could answer that question.
Even Xia Yi was thoroughly perplexed.
According to the elves’ intelligence, they were launching attacks on the vampires at multiple points, using feints to conceal their true objective: breaching the strategic pass of the Holy Crimson Empire.
The route Xia Yi was currently taking to the elven camp was supposed to be behind the active combat zones.
The current situation suggested the vampire army had somehow teleported en masse from the front lines directly into the elves’ rear.
How was that even possible?!
Spatial teleportation magic was an extremely unstable and difficult-to-master art, with stringent requirements. For instance, stable magic circles needed to be established at both the origin and destination points, preferably over short distances (shorter meant greater stability). The process couldn’t be subjected to spatial interference, and the more people teleported, the more pure magic crystals were consumed…
Given these constraints, teleporting an entire vampire army at once was absolutely impossible.
It should have been an utter impossibility.
Believing this was more likely than believing the sun would rise from the west.
Therefore, the appearance of this situation utterly shocked every dragon present.
Xia Yi noticed a man walking at the very front of the vampire army.
She recognized that man—it was actually Herman?!
“Dragons, your doom has come!”
Herman raised a single hand, and a torrential surge of sanguine energy erupted from him.
The commander of the Anti-Vampire Special Operations Team reacted swiftly, immediately barking out an order: “All personnel, hear this! Enter combat readiness! Assume true dragon forms! This is an emergency—engage the vampires!!”
The commander proved reliable in this crucial moment. While the other dragon soldiers were stunned, his roar jolted everyone back to their senses.
All the dragons immediately leaped off the treants, transforming and releasing their true dragon forms.
“Your Highness, allow me to protect you!”
Elly was no exception. She instantly transformed into the great green dragon, gently scooping Xia Yi up in her jaws and taking to the air.
“Perish! Blood Magic: Savage Grasp!”
Herman aimed his hand at Xia Yi’s location and clenched his fist violently.
Reacting on pure instinct, Elly swiftly dodged. A terrifying burst of sanguine energy erupted out of thin air right where they had been, violently exploding against the treant’s body. In almost an instant, the massive treant was utterly obliterated.
If Elly hadn’t reacted so quickly, Xia Yi would have been hit.
“Is this guy cheating?!”
Xia Yi couldn’t help but exclaim.
Since when did glaring at someone cause them to spontaneously explode? That made no sense!
“Alright then, if that’s how you want to play!”
Xia Yi shouted loudly:
“Elly, take me with you, charge!!”
“Charge?” Elly was momentarily stunned.
“Charge forward! We’ll take on Herman together!” Xia Yi leaped onto the green dragon’s back. “Elly, you just focus on charging. Leave the rest to me!”
“Alright, Your Highness! Understood!”
Elly beat her wings, soaring into the sky. Then, with Xia Yi on her back, she dove toward the vampire army like a bomber screaming into a steep descent.
“Elly’s Grand Charge!!”
Meanwhile, Xia Yi raised her hand. The mark of the Holy Sword began to shimmer.
“Come forth, Gram!”
At the little princess’s call, the golden Holy Sword materialized in her grasp.
The Holy Sword possessed a special effectiveness against dark creatures. Against vampires and other beings of darkness, it was practically their natural nemesis.
“Heart of Still Water, Mirror of Clarity!”
Xia Yi calmed her mind, achieving a flawless state of focus. She raised the Holy Sword with both hands.
It released a brilliant, radiant light in the darkness, a light so intense it even enveloped Elly, making her appear as a dragon of shimmering radiance.
Together, Xia Yi and Elly seemed to merge into one, like a falling meteorite plummeting from the heavens, descending directly toward the top of Herman’s head.
“Sword of Hopeful Victory!!”
Within striking range, Xia Yi swung the Holy Sword down, unleashing a dazzling, light-infused blow. The impact of holy light seemed poised to engulf Herman entirely.
Yet, at that moment, Herman didn’t dodge. Instead, he unfurled his vampire wings and took to the air, meeting Xia Yi’s sword technique head-on.
“Break—for me!”
Herman chose to withstand Xia Yi’s attack directly. Using both hands, he somehow pushed the holy radiance aside, emerging completely unscathed, not a single wound on him.
“Wha… How…?!”
Xia Yi was flabbergasted.
How could this be? Why did the Holy Sword have absolutely no effect on the vampire?
Even accounting for a significant gap in power levels, this shouldn’t be happening. It was as if he had an invincibility cheat. He was a dark creature supposedly weak to the Holy Sword, yet he tanked her ultimate move without even a scratch on his health bar?
“Your Highness, what should we do now?”
Elly asked anxiously.
“…Dammit. This is troublesome.”
Xia Yi noticed the other dragon soldiers were locked in fierce combat with the vampire army and actually struggling.
In terms of raw combat power, the vampire soldiers seemed to surpass the dragon soldiers. This was utterly absurd.
“Hehe, thinking of running away? It’s already too late for that.”
Xia Yi suddenly heard a silvery, bell-like laugh that sounded somewhat familiar.
She turned her head, looking behind them—and her face filled with disbelief.
A silver-haired vampire girl was leading yet another contingent of the vampire army, completely cutting off the dragons’ retreat.
That person was none other than the ruler of the Holy Crimson Empire—Elizabeth!
“Why… Why is Elizabeth here?” Xia Yi could no longer comprehend the situation.
How did Elizabeth know their movements? It was as if she possessed omniscience, laying this ambush in advance… Wait, no. And where did all these vampire soldiers even come from?
“Even surrendering is too late now! Silver Dragon Princess, you shall perish here today!”
Herman commanded the vampire army to press forward, coordinating with the forces led by Elizabeth to completely annihilate the dragons present.
“This… this…?!” Elly was utterly dumbfounded.
Xia Yi was also at a loss. Why, in the blink of an eye, had the dragon forces been driven into such a hopeless predicament? In this desperate situation, how could they possibly break through…?
