Volume 4 Chapter 143
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 143: Elly’s Massive Spray
“Raaaah!!!”
High in the sky, the green giant dragon unleashed her dragon breath.
Unlike most other dragons, a green dragon’s breath is infused with deadly poison and intense corrosive properties.
The poison-laden dragon breath swept across the vampire airship fleet like a green whip of death.
Although the ancient magic arrays on the vampire airships managed to withstand the most direct impact, the prolonged battle against the dragon clan had already greatly degraded their performance. It was impossible for them to completely nullify Elly’s dragon breath.
The poisonous fog infiltrated the airships, and under the absolute suppression of higher-tier power, it directly claimed the lives of the vampire inside, turning them into pools of blood.
Several vampire airships plummeted from the sky like inverted fireworks, erupting into cruel bursts of flame in the darkness of night.
“Although she was pretty embarrassed at the start, her later performance wasn’t bad at all, Elly,” Xia Yi commented as she watched the battlefield in the sky.
Compared to Serra or Atiya, Elly was not as strong in terms of instantaneous burst damage.
However, this little green dragon maid had one particularly outstanding trait—
She could take a beating.
In fact, compared to other dragons, she was exceptionally durable.
As long as she was tough enough, even if she kept taking hits, she could rely on the green dragon’s unique breath—using poison and corrosion to continuously wear down her opponents—and eventually defeat enemies with far greater offensive power than her own.
This was Elly’s advantage.
In this battle, she had fully capitalized on it. Though she had been taking hits the entire time, the vampire airships still couldn’t do much to her. Once their magic reserves were overly depleted and the ancient magic arrays’ operating efficiency dropped, it was time for Elly to harvest the battlefield.
“Hngh!”
“Hngh—ah!”
“Hngh—ahhhhhh!”
Elly began her massive dragon-breath barrage, wave after wave sweeping across the vampire airship fleet.
Vampire airships were continuously destroyed by her attacks. It was clear that the Anti-Vampire Special Operations Unit had gained absolute superiority. The vampire had no chance of turning the tide—the balance of victory had already tilted decisively toward the dragon clan.
“Retreat, retreat! All units, retreat immediately!!”
The commander of the vampire airship fleet issued the order.
The vampire airships changed direction and began withdrawing toward their own territory.
“Hmph, trying to run?!”
Seeing this, Elly immediately chased after them, launching a pursuit from behind.
The other dragon soldiers followed closely, relentlessly pursuing the vampire airship fleet. They entered full “beat-the-dog-while-it’s-drowning” mode, and even more vampire airships were shot down.
However, after reaching a certain distance, the squad leader shouted for everyone to stop.
“All units, that’s far enough. Do not pursue any further!!”
After the order was given, the dragons all chose to halt.
Although Elly was only a probationary member of the Royal Maid Corps, she had gone into battle this time as a soldier, and thus also chose to obey the command.
“Captain, we can wipe them all out. Why don’t we keep chasing?”
“If we pursue further, we’ll leave Princess Xia Yi behind. If the situation changes, it would be difficult to respond. Our objective this time was to drive back the vampire airship fleet so that the fox clan’s follow-up main forces can station themselves along the border of the Holy Crimson Empire. That objective has already been achieved.”
The captain’s explanation gained the recognition of the dragon clan. Thus, everyone returned together, flying back to Xia Yi.
“Reporting to Your Highness, the Anti-Vampire Special Operations Unit has completed its mission. The vampire airship fleet has been successfully repelled. Awaiting further instructions!” the captain reported.
“What about casualties?” Xia Yi asked.
“At present, there have been no fatalities among our soldiers, but some were injured during the battle.”
“Mm, I understand. Then we’ll end the operation here. Treat the injured soldiers first, then prepare to rest,” Xia Yi said.
“Yes, Your Highness!”
The dragon soldiers of the Anti-Vampire Special Operations Unit replied in unison.
Afterward, the dragons reverted to their humanoid forms and set up a temporary camp. The injured received treatment, while the others began to rest.
“Uh… well… ahaha…”
Standing in front of Xia Yi, Elly recalled the bold boasts she had made at the beginning—only to crash and burn instead. The embarrassment was so intense she felt like her toes could dig out an entire dragon royal palace.
“Looks like you still need to keep working hard, Soldier Elly,” Xia Yi said, patting her on the shoulder. “Do your best next time.”
“Mhm, mhm! Then, Your Highness, I’ll go rest now—call me if you need anything!”
The embarrassed Elly nodded repeatedly, made an excuse, and promptly ran off.
With the dragon clan’s intervention, the fox clan’s crisis had been resolved. They could now safely receive their follow-up main forces.
“Fox Carrot, this should do it, right?” Xia Yi asked Yue Liu.
“Uh… anyway… thank you!” The little fox finally offered her thanks honestly this time.
“What’s the next step?” Xia Yi asked.
“Follow me.”
The little fox led Xia Yi into a tent.
At the center of the tent stood a massive sand table covered with numerous markers, which appeared to be converging on a single region.
Based on the map markings on the sand table, Xia Yi recognized the area—it was the Holy Crimson Empire.
Yue Liu explained that these markers represented various nations, most of them member states of the Anti-Vampire Clan Alliance.
“My destined nemesis, this is the current situation. All member nations have responded to the call issued at the conference and have dispatched troops, advancing toward the Holy Crimson Empire,” the little fox said, pointing at two markers. “At the very front are our fox clan forces, and here are the elf clan’s troops.”
Xia Yi took a look—it was essentially the fox clan and the elf clan leading the charge together, attacking from different directions.
The armies of the other nations were also advancing from multiple directions, effectively encircling the vampire. Following the predetermined attack routes, they would gradually converge and ultimately assault the imperial capital of the Holy Crimson Empire, joining forces to defeat the Vampire Clan’s Ancestor God.
“At present, a large portion of the vampire’s military strength is still tied up within the Beastman Alliance. They’re likely still cleaning up the aftermath and won’t be able to fly directly to the frontline immediately. That’s why this is our window of opportunity,” the little fox explained. “Most of the other nations’ armies are still in a semi-observational phase, only moving toward the front. They definitely won’t join the battlefield right away. That’s why our fox clan and the elf clan must strike first and achieve results—once we do, the other nations will certainly respond more actively.”
“So our dragon clan’s role is to assist the fox and elf clans, dealing with the most troublesome vampire airship fleet?”
“Yes,” the little fox nodded. “If we fail, we’ll give the vampire plenty of breathing room. The vampire forces stationed with the Beastman Alliance could rush over as reinforcements, and that would be a real problem—we’d miss the best opportunity to attack.”
“Looks like the alliance members aren’t completely united after all.”
“That can’t be helped. That’s just how things are. Every nation has its own agenda—including our fox clan, and your dragon clan as well, right?” the little fox said with a faint, knowing smile.
Xia Yi didn’t deny it. That was simply the reality—nations came together for the sake of national interests.
“Now that you understand the basic situation, my destined nemesis, how high do you think our Anti-Vampire Clan Alliance’s chances of victory are?” the little fox asked.
“Isn’t that obvious?”
The silver-haired loli smiled and delivered an answer that left the little fox utterly stunned.
“A thousand percent, of course!!”
