Volume 4 Chapter 141
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 141: A Mere Vampire Airship
Yue Liu led part of the fox clan’s forces as the vanguard and arrived at the border of the Holy Crimson Empire.
This was the fox clan’s advance unit. The little fox’s mission was to clear the way ahead and receive the main force following behind.
However, they suddenly received a report from the scouts: Vampire airships were steadily approaching, clearly intending to drive back the fox clan’s vanguard.
As dusk fell and the sun gradually sank below the horizon, the moment when the Vampire’s combat strength was at its peak was about to arrive.
Just as everyone thought Yue Liu was about to order a retreat, the pink-furred little fox suddenly struck a dramatic pose, covering her eye patch and letting out a mysterious grin.
“Kukukuku…!”
“Your Highness, why are you laughing?”
“Bathing in the dim glow before eternal night, crossing the zero horizon, overcoming countless obstacles—my destined nemesis shall descend here!”
The little fox suddenly raised her hand, her face already filled with delight.
“What? Is the Silver Dragon Princess coming here?” one of Yue Liu’s subordinates exclaimed in shock.
It wasn’t just him. The other fox clan vanguard soldiers were equally astonished, unable to understand how he could possibly comprehend Yue Liu’s incomprehensible speech.
What they didn’t know was that becoming one of Yue Liu’s subordinates required passing a compulsory course—Annotations on Common Expressions Used by Yue Liu · Gitusezhuoya.
“Look! The dragon clan is arriving!”
Yue Liu’s subordinate pointed toward the horizon behind the setting sun. Everyone saw the silhouettes of dragons gradually appear in the sky, flying toward them.
Before long, Xia Yi arrived before Yue Liu, leading the Anti-Vampire Special Operations Unit.
“You’ve come, my destined nemesis. I trust you now bear the dark and profound mission upon your shoulders, and possess the resolve to shatter the crimson, yes?” The little fox greeted Xia Yi, deliberately adopting a deep, cool, and dramatic tone.
Huh?
Standing atop Elly’s dragon back, Xia Yi wore a confused expression. What nonsense was this fox carrot spouting now?
Forget it. Better not dwell on it—same as always.
“Fox carrot, were you waiting for me to come?” Xia Yi asked.
“Don’t call me fox carrot!!”
The little fox instantly broke character, her tone snapping back to normal as she abandoned her cool act.
“Be serious!! I’m leading the fox clan’s vanguard right now!”
“So?” Xia Yi tilted her head.
“The fox clan and the dragon clan are sworn rivals! When we meet, you’re supposed to trade a few harsh words with me, and I’ll respond in kind—showing that if it weren’t for the alliance, we’d already be locked in a life-and-death duel here!” the little fox explained.
“But…” Xia Yi brushed her hair back. “Fox carrot, you can’t beat me anyway.”
“What? What did you say?!”
The little fox instantly exploded—ears bristling, all nine tails standing on end.
“Who says I can’t beat you! I’ve already told you—I’m very strong now!! I’ve mastered an invincible sword technique, I just haven’t had the chance to use it yet! And I possess the Fox God’s Eye! If I use them together, you wouldn’t stand a chance at all!! I’m no longer the me you knew—I am a brand-new me!!”
“……”
“……”
Both the dragon clan’s anti-Vampire unit and the fox clan’s vanguard fell into silence.
Neither side could understand why their princesses seemed to get along so well—bickering like joyful rivals right between two armies.
“Your Highness, the Vampire airship fleet is almost here,” someone from Yue Liu’s forces reminded her.
“Oh right! My destined nemesis, consider yourself lucky! Otherwise, under these circumstances, I’d already be locked in fierce combat with you, deciding our victory here and now!” the little fox snorted.
“If it’s swordsmanship you want to compare, we can do it next time. Right now, there are more important matters,” Xia Yi said.
She leapt down from Elly’s back and walked up to the little fox.
“Can you tell me the current situation?”
The little fox explained, “I led the fox clan’s vanguard to the border of the Holy Crimson Empire, intending to locate a site nearby as a base for our follow-up forces. From there, we would advance into the empire and coordinate with the attacks of other member states. But the Vampire have dispatched airships to bomb us, intending to drive us away—or even wipe us out entirely. Clearly, they don’t want us establishing a foothold here.”
“I see,” Xia Yi said.
She glanced over the fox clan’s vanguard.
There were not many units here with effective anti-air capabilities.
“So, you need dragon clan support?”
“Yes,” the little fox nodded. “Since your dragon clan has joined the Anti-Vampire Alliance and previously agreed to respond when the Vampire deploy airships, then—”
“No.”
Xia Yi refused.
“What?” The little fox froze.
“I won’t help.”
“Why?!”
“Because, fox carrot, I haven’t heard you beg me yet~” Xia Yi said, a wicked grin spreading across her face.
“You…!”
The little fox bristled again.
“You expect me to beg you? Then I’ll issue an order as alliance leader—commanding the dragon clan to assist me!”
Xia Yi remained unmoved, saying only, “The Vampire are about to bomb you~ Anyway, we dragons can fly, so we’re not afraid of explosions~”
“You despicable silver dragon—you’re taking advantage of the situation!!”
The little fox was furious. This was blatant bullying at the worst possible moment.
Silver dragons really were full of bad intentions!
But she had no choice. If the dragon clan intervened now, it would greatly benefit the fox clan’s upcoming offensive against the Vampire. She had sworn to her father, the Fox Emperor, that she would secure this place. Retreating in disgrace would be far too humiliating.
“H-help me…”
“Hm? Who said that?” Xia Yi blinked.
The little fox’s cheeks flushed bright red. She bit her lip, barely restraining herself from lunging forward and biting this awful silver dragon.
“Help me, Xia Yi!!” the little fox shouted, clutching her skirt.
“Ah, fine. I suppose I have no choice. Since the fox carrot has gone this far, our dragon clan will step in,” Xia Yi said with a cheerful smile.
The little fox swore that next time she got the chance, she would make Xia Yi pay for this.
“They’re here!!” someone shouted.
Both dragons and foxes saw the Vampire airships rapidly approaching, preparing to begin their bombardment.
“Anti-Vampire Special Operations Unit, prepare to deploy!” Xia Yi ordered.
“Yes, ma’am!”
The dragon soldiers replied in unison.
“Your Highness, please grant me the chance to lead the charge!”
At that moment, Elly stepped forward, boldly declaring before everyone.
“A mere Vampire airship—watch me destroy it in a single strike!”
