Volume 4 Chapter 120
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 120: The Alliance Against The Vampires
“Dismissed, Heinrich. Return and fulfill your duties,” Xia Lulu ordered.
“Understood, Your Majesty.”
Heinrich replied in an indifferent tone.
He then turned and strode towards the palace doors to depart.
For a long time, Heinrich had been advising Xia Lulu, hoping the Silver Dragon Queen would wage war against foreign races to restore the dragon clan’s honor, but he had always been refused.
Having reached his limit, the Dragon General personally came to the northern capital, yet the result remained the same.
Xia Lulu, you massacred your own kin, centralized all power to become a dictator, yet you only wish to be a ruler who merely maintains the status quo? Truly disappointing.
Heinrich thought to himself.
Stepping outside, he saw a petite figure.
A silver-haired, silver-eyed dragon loli, her appearance strikingly similar to Xia Lulu’s. If not for the difference in clothing and hairstyle, they could almost be mistaken for the same person.
Heinrich remembered her name: Xia Yi · Christie, Xia Lulu’s daughter, the Silver Dragon Princess.
“Nyah!”
Suddenly, Xia Yi stuck her tongue out and made a face at Heinrich.
Heinrich frowned.
He hadn’t expected a princess of a kingdom to behave so childishly, like an immature brat.
“You big meanie!”
Xia Yi stomped on Heinrich’s boot and, before the big guy could react, dashed into the palace. In a flash, she ran behind Xia Lulu, hiding half her body while wearing a smug expression, as if saying, “Come on, try and get me~?”
“What a spoiled little brat. To think such a one is the dragon clan’s future heir, and Xia Lulu dotes on her so… You truly grow more like an ordinary mother by the day, Xia Lulu.”
Heinrich’s cold expression soured further. Suppressing his discomfort, he glanced once more at the Silver Dragon Queen, bowed again, and left.
Watching this, Xia Lulu’s mood lightened. “Daughter, you really are mischievous. You must know, that is our dragon clan’s Grand General.”
“So what! I’m the dragon clan’s princess! By status, I outrank him!” Xia Yi placed her hands on her hips. “What could he possibly do to me?!”
“In that regard, you’re certainly right. As long as I am here, Heinrich cannot act recklessly.”
“Xia Lulu, Heinrich is clearly a bad guy! He actively challenged you, using pretexts to try and pressure you into sending the dragon clan’s troops against foreign races!”
“I’m well aware. Heinrich has always been like that.”
Xia Lulu felt a bit weary and patted her daughter’s head.
When she first took over the nation, the Dragon Kingdom was quite turbulent. Many opposed her rule, raised banners of rebellion, and even once nearly split the entire country apart.
It was then that Heinrich proactively chose to side with Xia Lulu, helping her sweep away all resisting forces.
He even contributed significantly to the purge of the other dragon princes of the Christie bloodline.
Heinrich was a good general, but he was too radical. His stance towards foreign races was always overly aggressive, he desperately wanted to wage war to restore the dragon clan’s past glory, always hoping the clan could return to an era where it stood alone against all the myriad races of the world.
However, as long as Xia Lulu remained on the throne, she could suppress Heinrich and wield this double-edged sword for her own use.
But if she were ever to lose her power…
“Forget about that annoying big guy, Xia Lulu!” Xia Yi changed the subject. “Something major has happened outside!”
“You mean the war between the Vampires and the Undead on the Crimson Empire’s border?”
“Yes, yes! Exactly that!”
“Actually, that’s no longer the latest news, it happened several days ago.”
“Is… that so?”
“Because foreign races have always kept us at a distance, our intelligence channels are lagging. Generally, for major international events like this, ordinary people within the Dragon Kingdom learn about them somewhat later.”
“Xia Lulu, you must have your own dedicated intelligence channels, right?”
“Of course. Although in my eyes, foreign races are mere ants, I still need to keep an eye on these ants’ movements occasionally. I don’t want any annoying fellows disturbing our Dragon Kingdom,” Xia Lulu paused. “The war between the Vampire Ancestor and the Storm King has thoroughly shaken this land. Both mortal and high-ranking races that are astounded by the Vampire Ancestor’s strength, feel fear.”
“After all, Elizabeth declared war on all nations across this land. Maybe there wasn’t much of a tangible sense of it before, but if Elizabeth truly begins acting formally and starts her conquest… even the Storm King couldn’t stop her. How could that not make people deeply worried?” Xia Yi analyzed.
“Precisely because of this, driven by fear of the Vampire Ancestor, an alliance to oppose the Vampires is already being formed. Currently, in the neutral territory—the Pear Islands—many high-ranking and mortal races have gathered, preparing to establish an alliance against the Vampires.”
“Then can we join them and fight Elizabeth together?!”
Xia Yi was delighted.
This aligned perfectly with their earlier plan!
“Unfortunately, they want to throw a grand party where all the big shots will attend, but one race hasn’t received an invitation. Guess who?”
“It’s not our dragon clan, is it?”
“Correct! It’s precisely our dragon clan. The foreign races are forming an alliance but specifically don’t want us to join.”
“How can they do that? That’s just bullying!!”
“Those ants are probably afraid that if our dragon clan joined the alliance, we’d end up bullying everyone else,” Xia Lulu shrugged helplessly.
“…”
Xia Yi fell silent.
This was tricky.
If other foreign races were so exclusionary towards the dragon clan, how could they possibly utilize foreign forces to fight the Vampire Ancestor?
“However, Xia Yi, for our dragon clan to participate in the alliance against the Vampires isn’t entirely impossible,” Xia Lulu smiled. “Actually, this situation can be changed. I have some good news for you.”
……
The Pear Islands.
“Heh! Heh! Heh!”
The Nine-Tailed Fox clan’s princess, Yue Liu · Gitusezhuoya, stood before many high-ranking races, covering her single eyepatch and emitting a rhythmic, low chuckle.
The powerful beings present found it somewhat odd—why was this pink-haired fox acting so strangely?
But there was no helping it. After all, the Fox clan was the primary facilitator of the alliance against the Vampires.
“Good, good…”
The little fox was immensely satisfied with the gathering of powerful figures from various races at the Pear Islands.
Now I must put on a good show, leaving a deep impression on everyone—
That I am not to be trifled with!!
