Volume 3 Chapter 218
by Need_More_SleepVolume 3 + Chapter 218: Knight King
“Welcome back in glory, Lady Knight Princess!”
On both sides of the road stood rows of Holy Knights clad in silver armor. Together, they saluted toward the middle of the road, showing their respect and welcoming the return of the hero.
Between towering white buildings, white doves flew. The sonorous, clear tolling of bells reverberated in the air above, as though no filth or sin existed in this place.
This was the headquarters of the Holy Knights, also known as the Holy Land.
A knight clad in golden armor, grasping a flag-lance bearing the crest of the Frost family, walked in great strides toward the Hall of Knights, bathed in the gazes of the crowd.
She was none other than the future Knight King, the current Knight Princess—
Tia Frost.
Previously, Tia’s armor had been left behind in the subspace. Upon learning of this, the Holy Knights worked overnight to forge an entirely new set of golden armor. From the design to the materials, every detail was renewed—surpassing her former golden armor in both craftsmanship and quality.
This too symbolized her prestige and honor rising to a new height within the human world.
It was clad in this golden armor that the Knight Princess went to meet the Knight King.
“Lady Knight Princess, Lord Knight King has already awaited you for a long while.”
The attendant knight standing before the Hall of Knights courteously informed the Knight Princess.
“Alright, I understand.”
The Knight Princess nodded, and alone stepped through the great doors of the hall.
She trod along the path laid with a red carpet, with portraits of heroic knights of past generations and the armor they once wore arrayed on both sides. Everything seemed lifelike, as if the armor could come alive at any moment.
These figures were all illustrious names in human history, who had accomplished heroic deeds beyond the comprehension of ordinary people and brought countless honors to the Holy Knights.
After passing through another great doorway, the Knight Princess entered the central hall.
At the far end of her vision sat a golden knight upon a high throne. From beneath his helmet, his gaze locked on the Knight Princess—motionless, yet carrying an authority that chilled the bones.
He was the Knight King of the Holy Knights— the Knight of Glory.
“Glory” was the title of the Knight King.
Whomever became the Knight King would inherit the name of Glory.
As supreme leader of the Holy Knights, the Knight of Glory commanded the most powerful military force in the Rhine Kingdom. Should war break out, the knights’ iron cavalry could trample over any other human nation.
Even before the royal family of the Rhine Kingdom, the Knight of Glory could carry weapons unsearched and enter or leave the royal palace freely. Even before the King of Rhine Kingdom himself, he was required to offer only the barest of courtesies.
Within the human world, the Knight of Glory was fully worthy of the title “King.”
“My Lord Knight King, I have returned.”
The Knight Princess stepped before the throne, removed her helmet, and knelt on one knee, revealing her true face.
In this world, she would only ever show such respect to the Knight King.
“Knight Princess,” the Knight King said.
“Yes, I am here.”
“I am very pleased with your actions at Laurel Academy. You have already won renown throughout the world—repelling the witch, protecting humanity, and even returning alive from the perilous subspace.”
By age, the Knight King should already be over seventy years old.
Yet his voice was deep and powerful, full of vitality, as if he were still in his prime. Not the slightest trace of old age could be heard.
“This is my duty and my obligation—merely what is expected of me,” the Knight Princess calmly replied.
“Good. Unshaken by honor or disgrace—you have not betrayed my efforts in raising you. Rise, Tia,” the Knight King said. “There are no others here. You need not be so restrained.”
“Grandfather…”
The Knight Princess nodded and stood.
The Knight King was not only her direct superior, but also her grandfather, head of the Frost family.
As for her parents, she had nearly no memory. It was said that before she was even old enough to understand, they had already sacrificed themselves in the battle against calamity.
From the time she could remember, it was her grandfather who had raised her.
“Regarding the report you gave me before, I have read it and understood what transpired within the subspace,” the Knight King paused. “The Human Sword Saint, Wright Schubert—he appeared at Laurel Academy. That was truly him, wasn’t it?”
“Yes, Grandfather. It was Wright. I could never mistake him.”
“The true Human Sword Saint had not died—it shocked everyone. Now the human world’s high councils are in uproar over this, especially the Schubert and Morrison families.”
“At first, I too never expected he would still be alive…”
“Did Wright explain anything to you?”
“No, Grandfather. At that time the situation was dire—we faced a terrifying enemy, and there was no chance for words. During the battle I lost consciousness… and when it was over, he had already left.” The Knight Princess shook her head.
“Is he still standing on the side of humanity?”
“Yes, I can vouch for that, Grandfather. Wright has always fought alongside our people. The feeling he gave me hasn’t changed—it’s the same as before.” The Knight Princess spoke with unwavering conviction.
“Good. I understand.”
The Knight King rose to his feet.
“Tia, you were able to unlock the Holy Spear to a deeper level, correct?”
“Yes. I also heard some voices… it seemed to be the will of heroes.”
The Knight Princess lowered her head.
She did not know whether that heroic will was good or evil. Under its influence, she had even felt the urge to harm Xia Yi…
“Come with me, Tia. Since you have reached this level, it means you are qualified to know more.”
The Knight King, as if making a firm decision, turned to leave.
The Knight Princess did not press him with questions, but followed.
Behind the throne wall, a hidden door appeared.
The Knight King entered first, with the Knight Princess close behind.
It was a narrow passage that allowed only one person to pass. As they walked, a sweep of golden light washed over them. The Knight Princess felt a mysterious pressure, even a force trying to expel her.
She was compelled to summon the mark of her Holy Spear to resist it.
“As expected, Tia—you have not disappointed me.” The Knight King’s own hand revealed the mark of the Holy Spear. “Had you only barely unlocked it, you would have been driven out.”
“Grandfather, this place is…?”
“This is the Road of Kings. What you felt just now was the trial. Beyond this Road lies a forbidden secret unknown even to the human world. Only a wielder of the Holy Spear who has attained its deeper recognition has the right to comprehend it.”
The Knight King’s tone grew grave, heavy with weight.
The Knight Princess involuntarily straightened, her heart racing, as if her very blood resonated with something vast and sublime.
When the Knight King led her through the Road of Kings, everything suddenly opened before her eyes.
What unfolded before the golden-haired girl left her utterly astonished.
“Now, you have obtained the right to know the forbidden truth,” the Knight King’s voice resounded. “Tia, you are, in truth, a descendant of the Human King.”
