    Chapter 398: The Villain Complains

Watching the Earth’s Magnetic Force Warship vanish like a shooting star into the horizon, the eight Immortals left behind exchanged puzzled glances.

One of the Seven Dragon True Immortals sighed, "Though I know Young Master’s honesty borders on stubbornness and he’d never lie, his claims are still hard to swallow. He’s merely a Qi Sea cultivator. That Eighth-rank warship of his lost ninety percent of its puppet army, crippling its combat power. How could he possibly defeat Thunder Tribulation Immortals… or even Semi-Immortals?"

"Exactly!" another Seven Dragon True Immortal added. "He even boasted about making East Kunlun’s Sword God kneel! Not even our Mo Sect Leader would dare utter such nonsense!"

The others nodded until Mr. Suan Mei suddenly spoke. "Not so fast. The grander the claim, the surer his plan. Have you forgotten? Our Young Master holds that peculiar candidate Token Lord status. If promoted, even Semi-Immortals would pale before him."

The group gasped before erupting: "Of course! With the Ninth-Rank Treasure Benevolence Token backing a true Token Lord, Semi-Immortals would grovel!"

"But Mo Sect’s rules are rigid," someone countered. "He can’t become Token Lord through the inner gate."

Mr. Suan Mei stroked his beard. "Full promotion might be trouble, but temporary control? The Benevolence Token’s been watching him. As a Ninth-Rank Treasure with a spirit wiser than any sage, wouldn’t it act after seeing divine materials stolen under its nose?"

"Right!" another exclaimed. "The Divine Marrow’s priceless! The Token must’ve authorized his boldness!"

"Then Young Master’s victory is assured!" someone cheered. "What I’d give to see a Ninth-Rank Treasure unleashed!"

"Enough," Mr. Suan Mei chuckled. "Iron-Walled Jin City needs us. Let’s await his triumph."

As Fang Lie’s warship raced toward Sword Fortress, the Bai family schemed.

Having failed to infiltrate Fang Lie’s inner circle, the Bai Higher-ups only knew this: Fang Lie had bloodied Jin City and now challenged East Kunlun’s domain—tantamount to declaring war!

The Bai family rejoiced. "Heaven favors us!" their Head sneered. "Fang Lie’s tyranny as new City Lord will be his downfall!"

He brought Bai Tianxing—the deposed, vengeful former City Lord—to rally allies. Soon, a dozen Thunder Tribulation Immortals confronted Mo Qianxun.

The Mo Sect Leader sat meditating by a lake, where blue lotuses swayed beneath dragonfly-dappled mists. The intrusion shattered his communion with the Heavenly Dao.

    "Sect Leader!" the group bowed.

Mo Qianxun frowned. "Why this disturbance?"

"Fang Lie slaughtered tens of thousands in Jin City!" the Bai Family Head proclaimed. "Merchants butchered, shops plundered! The city empties in terror!"

Mo Qianxun’s eyes narrowed. "Your words alone? Fang Lie’s nature is clear. If he acted, others provoked it."

The Sect Leader’s wisdom pierced through lies. He knew Fang Lie’s history: adopting orphans, championing justice, his wings of integrity unbroken. Not one wicked deed marred his record—unlike the Bai schemer before him.

So when the Head of the Bai Family accused Fang Lie of wrongdoing, Mo Qianxun’s first thought was false accusation—he didn’t believe a word.

Seeing this, the Head of the Bai Family felt bitter. He and the Sect Leader had once been like brothers, yet now even his words met distrust. Luckily, he’d prepared. "Sect Leader," he urged, "if not me, trust another. This young man is City Lord of Iron-Walled Jin City. He knows everything!"

Bai Tianxing stepped forward and bowed. "Greetings, Sect Leader."

"What exactly do you know?" Mo Qianxun asked carelessly.

"Sect Leader, after Fang Lie arrived, he slaughtered over ten thousand. Hundreds of prime shops now bear his name!" Bai Tianxing declared mournfully. "I swear on heaven—if I lie, let lightning strike me!"

Bai Tianxing twisted the truth, omitting the victims’ identities.

But Mo Qianxun, famed for his wisdom, saw through it. "Even if he killed and seized," he scoffed, "they deserved it. Fang Lie’s reputation is solid gold. I trust him completely and won’t interfere."

The Thunder Tribulation Immortals envied such unwavering trust. Yet none thought Mo Qianxun foolish—even they trusted Fang Lie’s character deeply.

Realizing slander failed, the Bai Family Head played his final card. "Sect Leader, ignore other matters, but Fang Lie pilots the Earth’s Magnetic Force Warship to destroy Sword Fortress today. You must act!"

"Sword Fortress answers to East Kunlun! Attacking risks sect war!"

"It’s urgent! Stop him before irreversible damage!" other immortals clamored.

Mo Qianxun sobered. Sword Fortress’s ties to East Kunlun made this dangerously consequential. "Is this true?" he pressed. "Why would Fang Lie attack?"

"Every word’s true!" Bai Tianxing vowed. "The reason, I don’t know."

"Hmm." Mo Qianxun closed his eyes, activating a divine skill to contact Fang Lie.

Meanwhile, Fang Lie sped through skies aboard the warship, lounging in his chair as water screens displayed outside vistas.

His Sumeru Bags quivered. Mo Qianxun’s Shadow materialized abruptly.

Fang Lie jumped. "Sect Leader! Must you pop up like a ghost? You’ll scare someone to death!"

"Enough! Are you heading to Sword Fortress?"

"Yes. I’ll flatten it," Fang Lie declared fiercely.

"Fool!" Mo Qianxun barked. "Sword Fortress is East Kunlun’s! This could start a sect war!"

"Let it! That fortress falls today!"

"You—" Mo Qianxun choked on fury.

Fang Lie glared. "You what? I’m mopping up your mess! Why’d you let the Bai family’s negligence lose Iron-Walled Jin City’s treasures?"

"What?" Mo Qianxun froze. Fang Lie never lied. "Explain!"

"Because you indulged the Bai family, outsiders stole our treasures! The losses would stagger you!"

"Nonsense!" Mo Qianxun snapped. "Salvagers carry supervision tokens. Every find’s tracked! Losses would be minimal!"

Fang Lie laughed harshly. "Are you truly Mo Sect’s wise leader—or some fool impostor?"
