Chapter 331
by fanqienovelChapter 331: Setting Off to Find the Saint
Xiuyuan listed seven or eight remote locations within the Divine Realm. To avoid wrong turns, the pair dragged him along as they checked each spot. After several days of searching every mentioned site, they still couldn’t find the place marked on the map.
Though Trees of Heaven existed at these locations, none matched the terrain depicted by the Messenger of the Underworld—some lacked the Heavenly River or Divine Mountains, others had mismatched landscapes. You You’s initial hope dwindled with each failed attempt until they exhausted all options.
"Is this really everything?" She turned to Xiuyuan. "Think again—any other places where Trees of Heaven grew ten millennia ago?"
"Nothing left!" Xiuyuan collapsed onto a rock, panting. "I’ve emptied my memory! Let this weak Medicine God rest!"
You You sighed. Must they search every Tree of Heaven site? Or worse, comb the entire Divine Realm?
"What now?" Yu Hao asked helplessly.
"We’ll gather older, detailed maps of the Divine Realm," You You decided, tucking away the map. "Compare them against the Messenger’s drawing."
"Yes, retreat and regroup!" Xiuyuan agreed eagerly. "Blind searching wastes time. Besides, your Nether Realm friend’s map might point to a dark energy-rich burial site!"
"Burial site?" You You frowned.
"The Sin Clan’s ancient battleground after the last Calamity," Xiuyuan explained. "But it’s been barren for ages—no grass, let alone Trees of Heaven. Just a single Tree of Heaven Pillar remains."
"Tree of Heaven Pillar?"
"One of four pillars supporting the Divine Realm," Yu Hao clarified. "Unrelated to the trees."
"Let’s verify anyway," You You insisted, the term sparking familiarity. "To the burial site!"
"Wait!" Xiuyuan protested as she yanked his collar. "It’s forbidden! No one enters—"
They soared westward. The burial site lay shrouded in perpetual dark energy and Ominous Presence—remnants of the Divine Clan’s massacre. True Gods avoided this desolate forbidden zone.
Approaching the Western Region, they saw the sky split—white mist on one side, swirling yellow sand and dark energy on the other. Red lightning-like flashes crackled within the gloom, accompanied by shrill, violent howls instead of thunder.
Yu Hao grimaced at the boundary. "The Ominous Presence here reeks of Sin Clan residue. It’s too dangerous, Celestial Maiden. Should we really—Celestial Maiden?"
You You stood transfixed, staring into the sandstorm. Yu Hao waved a hand before her dazed eyes.
"Someone… called me," she murmured, though only eerie wails reached the others. Shaking off dizziness from the howls, she declared, "We’re checking it."
"But entry’s impossible!" Xiuyuan argued. "Defensive spells crumble fast here. Who knows what lurks inside?"
You You summoned her Spirit Sword. "I’ll cut through with sword energy. Move quickly."
As Yu Hao drew his sword to assist, the Little Flame on her shoulder darted into the storm.
"Little Flame!" She reached out futilely.
The flame exploded into a firewall, parting the sand and Ominous Presence. A fiery tendril curled around her pinky, tugging insistently.
"It… wants to guide us?" You You marveled.
The trio followed the flame’s path through the newly forged passage, shielded from the raging darkness.
