Chapter 309: Oh No, So Weak

“Formation?” You You exclaimed, “What kind of formation?”

“I can’t tell yet.” Yuan Qi shook his head. “It’s a demonic formation, but its purpose remains unclear. It seems to have halted.”

“Halted?” Feng Rong asked, “Is the formation destroyed?”

“No.” Yuan Qi frowned. “It’s merely paused. I can’t discern the reason.”

You You and Feng Rong exchanged baffled looks. Since when could formations be paused mid-activation?

Yuan Qi pondered briefly but detected no further fluctuations. The formation was deeply concealed, and its triggering by Gong Xi puzzled him. He withdrew his hand, advising, “This place is dangerous. We must proceed cautiously.”

They nodded solemnly. You You turned to Gong Xi, who had nearly finished recuperating, and suggested, “City Lord Gong, let’s travel together.”

Gong Xi hesitated, conflict flickering in her eyes, but finally nodded.

The group pressed deeper into the hall. You You supported the injured Gong Xi, drawing Feng Rong’s glares. He hovered nearby, snorting like an irate beast, poised to intervene.

Strangely, no further dangers emerged. The oppressive darkness stretched endlessly until, after half an hour, Yuan Qi pointed ahead. “Something’s there.”

A massive door materialized, mirroring the entrance. Intricate carvings of indistinct creatures swirled with black Demonic Energy. At its center gaped a maw of jagged teeth, lifelike enough to seem animate.

The Yin volumes in You You’s mind quivered eagerly.

    *The final volume lies beyond!*

She Voice Transmitted Yuan Qi and Feng Rong, who tensed with anticipation. But how to open it? No mechanisms or locks were visible.

“Let me try Demonic Energy,” Gong Xi offered. “This *is* the Demon Hall.”

They agreed. As her energy brushed the door, black mist erupted. The carvings writhed, morphing into sharp wind blades that lunged at her.

Crushing Pressure immobilized Gong Xi. You You yanked her back as Feng Rong and Yuan Qi raised defensive spells. But the blades disintegrated inches from their faces.

    “Illusions?” You You wondered.

“No.” Yuan Qi studied lingering Demonic Energy. “The attack couldn’t sustain beyond the door’s proximity.”

Gong Xi trembled, pallid. “That Pressure… worse than Demon King Long Ting’s! You You, this door is—”

A thunderous groan interrupted her. The door split down the middle, grinding open.

“You did it!” You You cheered.

    Gong Xi frowned. *Did I?*

Beyond lay another hall dominated by a colossal statue. Though its features were indistinct, You You felt inexplicable familiarity.

Gong Xi staggered, clutching her chest. “Pressure… from the statue…”

Others felt nothing. Yuan Qi surmised, “It targets demons. We must hurry.”

As You You moved to assist, Feng Rong clutched his forehead dramatically.

“Ohhh, I’m suddenly so weak!” He flopped against You You, shoving Gong Xi aside. “Support me, You You!”

    You You: “…”

    Gong Xi: “…”

    Yuan Qi: “…”

    *Subtlety: 0.*
