    Chapter 258: The So-Called Parents

The egg beside them cracked completely, its Eggshell fragments falling away and dissolving into white light. Within the glow emerged a pale cyan phoenix illusion that gradually took human form. Within moments, a breathtaking woman in blue appeared before collapsing forward.

The man who’d emerged earlier caught her instantly, clutching her tightly as his panicked expression softened. His voice dropped to a gentle murmur, “Ran Ran… wake up.”

“Ah Xuan… where are we?” The female stirred, reaching to touch the man’s face before scanning their surroundings. Her gaze locked onto Feng Rong, eyes widening slowly with disbelief and hope. “You’re… Feng Er?”

Feng Rong froze, his expression complex as he studied them. Though their shared bloodline pulsed through him, these strangers had missed his entire life. Calling them “parents” felt easier when they were mere eggs, but now the words stuck in his throat.

When Feng Rong remained silent, You You and Yuan Qi held back. You You stepped forward and squeezed his hand in quiet support.

The female’s cry snapped her companion’s attention to Feng Rong. His eyes widened. “It really is our Feng Er!”

The couple scrambled up, rushing over arm-in-arm. Feng Rong’s mother gripped his shoulders, devouring him with her gaze through sudden tears. “Feng Er… you’re so grown… all these years… were you well?”

Her voice broke as fat tears rained down. “Feng Er… my Feng Er…”

Feng Rong’s father abandoned the reunion entirely, fluttering around his weeping wife. “Ran Ran, don’t cry! Our son’s safe and strong – hatched all on his own!”

“My baby…” She clung to Feng Rong, who stood stiff under the assault, her sobs escalating with every paternal reassurance. Suddenly she whirled on her husband, fury igniting. “Your fault! You left him in the Nirvana Realm! My newborn…”

“It was necessary!” The man reached for her. “The situation demanded—”

“Liar!” Her fist shot out, planting a perfect black eye. “All your fault!”

    “Ow! Ran Ran, he’s fine!”

“Fine?!” Flames rippled around her. “I never held him! Never shared divine power! You call this fine?!” Her barrage of blows sent him staggering as the Sacred Tree space echoed with yelps:

    “Aiyo! Be reasonable!”

“My fault, all my fault! Careful, your hands—”

“No next time! Not in front of the baby!”

    “NOT THERE—OOWWW!”

    Feng Rong: “…”

    You You: “…”

    Yuan Qi: “…”

You You nudged Feng Rong, suddenly understanding his temper’s origin.

The spectacle drained Feng Rong’s earlier tension. Squeezing You You’s hand, he called firmly: “Father. Mother.”

The hurricane of violence stilled. His mother materialized before him, wrath melting into tearful tenderness. “You called me Mother! Do you hate us for leaving you?”

“It’s past.” Feng Rong’s jaw tightened. He knew their absence wasn’t by choice.

His father limped over, grinning through bruises. “Good lad! My son through and—”

    “Scram!” his mother snapped.

    “Yes, dear.”

She scrutinized Feng Rong like fragile glass, words tumbling out between sniffles. “How long were we asleep? Were you lonely? Who helped you hatch? Any dangers? Did anyone hurt you?”

Feng Rong extracted his hand awkwardly. “I’m fine.”

“Thank the heavens!” She turned, finally noticing You You. “And this…?”

Feng Rong straightened, pulling You You forward with visible pride. “Mother, Father – You You. My chosen partner. We’ve bonded.” He tilted his forehead’s Contract mark.

“Uncle. Aunt.” You You forced a smile.
