    Chapter 208: The Troublemaking Beast

Although You You believed the Soul Beast possessed strong self-control and wouldn’t actually eat Qiu Zhang, she still intended to speak with him. A teacher drooling over a student was undeniably unsettling.

Before she could approach him, however, another crisis erupted.

“Sect Master, trouble!” A disciple burst into the main hall, breathless. “Lord Wen Ze is battling the new Soul Master!”

“What?” You You froze. The little monster?

A thunderous explosion shook the air, accompanied by flashes from activated formations. She rushed outside.

Above them loomed an enormous white beast—none other than the little monster. It had fully reverted to its mountainous original form, flame-like mane thrashing wildly.

Opposite it, waves of dark energy swirled. The Soul Beast stood calmly within the gloom, blocking every attack without shifting to his true form.

“What happened?” You You demanded, joining the gathered disciples.

“Sect Master…” They bowed. “Lord Wen Ze returned from hunting guardian beasts and grew enraged upon learning you’d brought the Soul Master. They were already fighting when we arrived.”

    ROAR—

Wen Ze lunged at the Soul Beast, claws slashing downward.

“Little monster, stop!” You You shouted.

Ignoring her, Wen Ze struck only dark mist. The Soul Beast materialized behind him, countering with a shadowy blast that sent Wen Ze sprawling.

Enraged, the beast prepared to charge again.

You You soared upward on her sword, interposing herself between the combatants. “Enough! You can’t defeat him!”

Wen Ze’s answering roar shook the heavens. His mane elongated into countless flaming tentacles that tore through the Soul Beast’s defenses.

You You gaped. How could a mere monster breach a Nether Realm envoy’s protection? Yet Wen Ze’s strikes dispersed the dark energy, forcing the Soul Beast back.

Darkness engulfed half the sky as the Soul Beast summoned a phantom rivaling Wen Ze’s size. Countless shadow arrows materialized, raining down.

    “Stop!” You You cried—too late.

Wen Ze bat aside arrows with manic tentacle swings while dodging others. Missed strikes plummeted earthward as the Soul Beast’s defenses flickered between solid and intangible.

    BOOM!

The main peak’s halls shuddered under the barrage, the protective mountain formation lagging behind the destruction.

    CRACK.

Something snapped in You You’s mind. Energy surged through her veins. She vanished, reappearing above the combatants to deliver two skull-rattling punches.

    “I said… STOP!”

    THUD! THUD!

Both beasts cratered into a floating peak, reverting to humanoid sizes with matching head lumps.

“Finished?” You You landed, glowering. “Or shall I join?”

The Soul Beast rose sheepishly. “He… started it.”

Wen Ze remained prone, clutching his bump. “Waaah! You cheat!” He kicked up dust clouds. “Keeping secret beasts! I’ll leave! Nobody wants me!”

“Explain properly!” You You hauled him up by the collar.

“All Beast Tamers have one beast!” He flopped down, drumming limbs. “Choose! Me or that shadowy intruder!”

You You’s eye twitched. “One fluffy companion, hmm?”

    “YES!”

“Very.” She turned to a disciple. “Inform Feng Rong at Second Peak. Ask if he approves this rule.”

As the disciple departed, Wen Ze paled, suddenly recalling two particular fluffy sect members…
