Chapter 386
by fanqienovelChapter 386: Almost a Redemptive Expedition
“Chaotic dragons.”
“Nothing special.”
Loseta thought the colossal creatures looked terrifying but were nothing much.
But soon, she changed her mind.
“No.”
“It’s the Giant God’s divine grace; it’s too strong.”
To Trilobite, the “divine grace” was the “creature toxin: Belcher Sea Snake type,” a powerful snake venom.
But to Loseta, it was a “soul deconstruction solvent based on Holy Light from the Sun technology”; a scary poison that worked directly on the Soul!
In reality, the Belcher Sea Snake’s venom was among the deadliest snake venoms.
Sea snakes needed their prey to die fast. Otherwise, any little struggle in the sea could let the creature escape with the currents, costing the snake its meal.
Sea snakes had weak jaws that couldn’t hold onto prey, so they had to find another way.
They made their venom super toxic, so prey died right after one bite, letting the snakes grab their feast quickly.
But most sea snakes were small, so they made little venom. Even though it was toxic, the small dose couldn’t harm large animals.
Similarly, the jumping spider mechs were small against chaotic dragons.
The problem was the “evil god slayers” war organization had lots of jumping spider mechs!
Their Chosen Warriors were top fighters picked from war groups formed in Valaharl. These best-of-the-best got into mechs blessed by the Giant God at “launch,” carrying the soul deconstruction solvent.
They synced with the strong mechs to attack the evil god, hitting his Soul with the Giant God’s “solvent.”
One mech might have “too little solvent,” but this time, the “evil god slayers” sent at least two hundred jumping spider mechs, throwing all their elite into the fight!
One chaotic dragon alone couldn’t beat them.
But was there really just one?
Loseta grew uneasy.
The Giant God’s light had faded.
He pulled back his gaze, crouched under the tree a bit, dug at the soil, and left his people.
She didn’t know what he was doing…
“Surely.”
“It has deep meaning!”
But before Loseta could think more about the Giant God’s plan…
“Be careful!”
With Sulya’s shout…
“Boom—Boom—Boom—!”
Heavy claws shook the outer skin of the Fantasy Tree of Subspace.
Soon, the vibrations increased in speed.
“Roar—!”
Another chaotic dragon appeared!
“Defense forces.”
“Is there more than one?”
“But they are the same!”
“Reinforcements are useless!”
Loseta prepared to call her "evil god slayers" brothers to join in.
But then…
“Bang!”
“Boom!”
“Crash!”
One small mountain after another fell onto the surface of the Fantasy Tree of Subspace.
They were chaotic dragons!
“Ten…”
“Twenty…”
“Thirty!?”
“The number was still… increasing!”
In Loseta’s shocked gaze, more chaotic dragons ran over from the other branches of the Fantasy Tree of Subspace.
Chaos was not foolish, and it understood dynamic defense.
The previous chaotic dragon was only stalling, waiting for the main force to arrive.
“We underestimated chaos!”
Under normal circumstances, ten "Giant God’s Radiance" class void battleships would have a good chance of killing one “Scorpion God”; and one hundred jumping spider mechs might defeat a chaotic dragon.
But by then, the number of chaotic dragons that had reached this area had already reached fifty!
Even more chaotic dragons were rushing from all parts of this gigantic Fantasy Tree of Subspace.
At that point, the "Valaharl Expeditionary Army" and the "Slave Uprising Army" were somewhat outnumbered.
“No wonder the Giant God glanced and left; this was disappointment from Him!”
“He must have thought we were too arrogant, just having accepted a little divine grace, we hadn’t accumulated enough power, yet we rushed into battle…”
“Sorry, Giant God, I was guilty!”
Sulya, who had planned this probing attack, felt immensely guilty.
The only thing she wanted then was to find a way to bring these forces back.
Just then, the situation changed again.
"Buzz—!"
Dark red beams of light suddenly rose from the mountain of demon corpses piled on the ground.
This was not Chaos Energy, but the lingering resentment of the demons.
They converged, forming a temporary consciousness that merged into a chaotic dragon.
This contingency had been prepared by Barbatos.
He would never leave the Fantasy Tree of Subspace entirely unprotected.
Most demons had undergone collective modification; upon death, their souls concentrated, fused, and merged into the chaotic dragon—a vessel possessing only an empty Divine Body.
Thus, the chaotic dragon gained intelligence.
The scattered chaotic dragons now had a commander who could assess the battlefield.
If the battle favored them, the newly conscious dragon would order its kin to utterly annihilate the arrogant invaders as a warning. If the foe proved overwhelming, it would flee with blinding speed to report to the Chaos Council.
Barbatos was a chess player.
His gambits were masterfully laid.
"Mortals!"
The once-mindless chaotic dragon suddenly spoke!
"You believe petty tricks and cunning can defy chaos?"
"Your doom is at hand!"
"Roar—!"
Wasting no words, the awakened dragon commanded its brethren to charge the "Valaharl Expeditionary Army" and the "rebellious slaves."
"Fight to the last!"
"For the Giant God!"
A flawless ambush had devolved into an expedition of atonement…
Just as Loseta and Sulya readied themselves to die for the Giant God—
"Screeeech—!"
A piercing cry echoed through the Fantasy Tree of Subspace.
An unnatural sound,
like a cross between birdsong and a beast’s snarl.
The conscious chaotic dragon exulted!
It turned, crawling toward a newly arrived deity hundreds of times its size, and prostrated itself.
"Truly worthy of Lord Barbatos!"
"To dispatch even You to address the Tree’s peril!"
"Has He sent You personally!?"
…
"Thud—!"
A colossal paw slammed into the ground!
Vibrant green feathers, massive as ancient trees, covered its form.
An elegant, towering Divine Body materialized in the void!
The Eighth Seat of Chaos—core councilor Barbatos!
"Screeeech—Roar—!"
Barbatos ignored the dragon’s praise. His eyes burned crimson as he unleashed a Furious Roar.
The emblem of giant jaws and sharp teeth blazed upon his forehead!
The chaotic dragon stared in shock.
"Honorable Councilor Barbatos!"
"What… afflicts You!?"
