Chapter 573: God Said: Let There Be Light!

    “Run, don’t look back!”

Lin Mo showed no signs of stopping as he pulled Qi Fei into the alley.

From Las Vegas to Los Angeles and then back again, only this man and woman knew of the thrilling experiences in between.

At this moment, the “Dragon Guard” digital tactical armor had already been taken away by Old Jack. Since they were close to the hotel and under the CIA’s radar, they thought they were safe. The unexpected turn of events was truly surprising.

As they neared their final destination, Lin Mo and Qi Fei quickly realized that the man calling out to them certainly did not mean well. Whatever he had to say could at least wait until they reached the hotel.

“Wait, sir! I have something to say! Stop! Stop! Quick, chase them down!”

The man’s voice behind them turned frantic, revealing his true intentions with his last few words.

Behind Lin Mo and Qi Fei, about five to six meters away, a Caucasian man waved his hands while quickly speaking into his radio, “I see them! Hurry! They’re about to enter the alley on the left side of the church. We must block them!”

Within the crowd nearby, those who had been pretending to be passersby—reading newspapers or pretending to make phone calls—dropped their disguises and surged toward the alley, trying to catch up with Lin Mo and Qi Fei and corner them inside for their undisclosed activities.

    “Stop! Stop!”

The first white man sprinted into the alley with all his might, suddenly seeing a horizontal arm appear in front of him less than a meter away. He couldn’t stop in time and collided with that arm. Instantly, everything went dark, and he knew nothing more.

“Oh! How tragic!” Qi Fei gasped, seeming a bit horrified.

After Lin Mo rushed into the alley with her, Qi Fei halted and extended her arm. Just as she was trying to figure out what Lin Mo was doing, a Caucasian man rushed into the alley and collided face-first against Lin Mo’s raised arm.

It was as if the man had willingly thrown himself into the arm, and his legs couldn’t compensate for the sudden stop, lifting him off the ground as he flew through the air in an inverted F-shape before crashing heavily to the ground.

It was like crashing into a solid steel pillar; Lin Mo’s arm didn’t even shake.

With at least two hundred pounds crashing to the ground, it was truly gruesome. The young man, barely in his twenties and covered in freckles, lay motionless with closed eyes.

“You didn’t kill him, did you?” Qi Fei asked nervously as she saw him seemingly lose consciousness.

“No worries, he’s just out cold! I didn’t take his life.”

This was merely Lin Mo showing restraint.

Now, Lin Mo wasn’t alone. Along with Qi Fei, there was the Chinese aviation experts team, so he couldn’t act recklessly.

If he were on his own, without any concerns, he wouldn’t have let the man knock himself out; he would have broken the man’s neck instead.

In this world filled with social rules and laws, Lin Mo had become much more restrained in his actions compared to another world.

Quickly, Lin Mo searched the man’s clothes and pulled out a handgun, checking the magazine before handing it to Qi Fei. “Take this. With you holding the gun, I can feel more at ease. Shoot if necessary—don’t hesitate.”

As the cold killing weapon entered her hands, Qi Fei’s eyes widened in shock, instantly reminding her of the terrifying battle from the night before.

She took down nine men in one breath, miraculously with every shot hitting its mark. Oh my, she was just a civilian, a businesswoman—how could she fight like an assassin?

It was her first time using a gun last night, and she couldn’t understand how she had such good marksmanship; it was hard to believe.

Meanwhile, Lin Mo saw great potential in her natural shooting skills. Last night wasn’t luck; it was talent. As a businesswoman, it was a shame. With a little training, she could become a sharpshooter, one of the most terrifying rapid-fire marksmen on the battlefield.

As long as she had enough bullets, she could take down even more enemies—one person could rival an entire army.

Lost in her thoughts, she suddenly felt herself lifted off the ground and couldn’t help but let out a shriek, “Shh!” Lin Mo’s voice and the strong scent of a man filled her ears, causing her face to flush. She realized she was being scooped up in a classic princess carry by Lin Mo.

What was this guy up to now?

    “W-what are you doing?”

Qi Fei looked up at Lin Mo, who suddenly gazed upward. What could be so interesting up there? Her thoughts struggled to keep pace with Lin Mo’s actions.

From the other end of the alley, shouts faintly echoed, indicating that things were not looking good.

They could hear the sound of hurried footsteps outside the alley, clearly indicating more than one person.

    “Hold on tight!”

    “Ah!”

It felt as if she had boarded an elevator, as Qi Fei surged upward, feeling weightless.

Lin Mo held Qi Fei and, like he had lost his weight, he pushed off the alley wall, using the sides to leap upward, instantly reaching the towering ten-meter high wall of the church.

    “Where are they? Where?”

“Don’t be dumb; they must have gone inside!”

The people rushing into the alley did so without hesitation, plunging deeper into it.

Hehe, these fools! Qi Fei exchanged a knowing smile with Lin Mo.

Qi Fei was astonished by Lin Mo’s strength. This solid guy could hold her and jump up the alley walls. How much strength did that require? Had this unassuming guy been a hidden tiger all along back in college?

Since graduation, Lin Mo seemed like a different person, making Qi Fei feel strange but also inexplicably mysterious.

Could it be that the army, this legendary melting pot, was truly that incredible? Lin Mo’s current demeanor closely resembled that of a seasoned soldier.

Balancing carefully on a one-foot-wide wall and carrying Qi Fei like a circus performer, Lin Mo moved steadily along the wall and turned into the inner section of the church. They could still faintly hear shouts from the alley, as the people on both ends were left confused by Lin Mo and Qi Fei’s sudden disappearance.

Since it was not Sunday, very few people attended the church, leaving it exceptionally empty. It seemed like two different worlds compared to the bustling city scene just a wall away.

Even though both sides were filled with high-rise buildings and luxurious settings, the church remained steadfast, just like the inner persistence and dedication within people’s hearts. Despite the allure of plush comforts, faith in God consistently existed firmly within each person.

    “Let’s go down!”

Lin Mo glanced at the interior wall, turning toward Qi Fei with a slight smile.

“…” Qi Fei looked down and felt dizzy from the three-story height. Lin Mo’s words made her pale with fear.

“Close your eyes. It will be quick!”

“Thank God! May the Lord be with you! Amen!”

Father Will listened to the confessions of the four faithful children of God. He still needed to prepare for the sermon later that afternoon. With less than five clergy members in the entire church, that was a remarkable feat in a city like Las Vegas, filled with temptations.

In this place resembling a golden pit, fewer people remained untempted, willing to serve as humble messengers of God’s glory.

After being in charge of the church for over five years, Father Will had tirelessly managed it, yet he couldn’t prevent the dwindling number of worshippers.

From five years ago to now, the number of attendees on Sundays had nearly halved. Although the church received government funding, continued operation seemed unlikely in the long run.

Currently, most of the people attending services were elderly, while the youth no longer believed in the elusive God; they more readily believed in the power of money.

Father Will’s white hair had multiplied since taking charge. He felt time slipping away.

Gambling, prostitution, drugs, violence—these vices permeated the city, and few could calm themselves to seek inner peace and sincerely cleanse their original sins; instead, they sank deeper into darkness.

The seven deadly sins: pride, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, gluttony, and lust.

Father Will believed he fought on the front lines against humanity’s original sins. After meeting with the Pope in Vatican City last year, he seemed to regain his confidence. He planned to adapt to changing societal trends by hiring professional event planners to create attractive activities for the Catholic Church, increasing its appeal.

Though his approach differed from traditional methods, as long as he could help the wandering sheep find their way back to the right path, it would be a tremendous good deed.

While contemplating, Father Will suddenly saw a flicker out of the corner of his eye. He turned his head, intrigued, to see a peculiar light glowing nearby.

    “My God!”

Father Will froze, his expression turning to one of disbelief. He quickly retreated behind a snow-covered pine, peering out with wide eyes at what he saw. His temples throbbed, and his heart raced uncontrollably.

This couldn’t be real! It couldn’t be!

A man appeared to be holding a woman, floating like a feather, utterly defying the law of gravity, slowly descending into the garden behind the church.

But the sight that nearly made Father Will’s eyes bulge out was the six radiant wings extending from the man’s back, each near fifty feet long, sparkling with light. Countless glimmering particles rapidly disappeared as the wings gracefully moved, almost blinding Father Will’s aged eyes.
