Chapter 553: Not Enemies Don’t Gather

    “These persistent ghosts.”

White Wolf remained calm as he carried the tray to another room, casually knocking on a door.

Fortunately, the Lockheed personnel did not recognize his face.

When he saw who opened the door, he felt as if he had been struck by lightning, instantly freezing up.

His confidence and composure seemed to have vanished, and he stammered, “A-a-extra meal!”

Wasn’t this an extra meal for the Dragon Knight?

What bad luck to run into this nemesis here.

White Wolf immediately recognized the guy who had flattened him like a tank at the airport, glaring at him with a murderous look on the plane.

    What was going on?

    An aviation expert?

Even battlefield demons wouldn’t have such a ferocious glare.

Lin Mo saw the person knocking on his door and couldn’t believe his luck. It felt like he saw this guy everywhere. He sneered, “Come in!”

Lin Mo’s voice sounded to White Wolf as if it had come from hell, more frightening than the Lockheed people searching through the other rooms behind him.

For White Wolf, it was like facing a wolf in front and a tiger behind. He forced himself to say, “Brother, I’m sorry, heh heh, I’m here to make amends.”

Aside from being occasionally arrogant, he was quite adaptable, smoothly adjusting his words based on who he was around. When faced with someone tougher than himself, he quickly softened and became submissive.

“A weasel paying New Year’s respects to a chicken; there’s no good intention there.” Lin Mo could tell by the guy’s face that he was clearly in trouble.

“Heh heh, thank you, thank you, brother! I genuinely apologize!” White Wolf secretly sighed in relief, successfully changing the subject. If he stayed with Major Mo, who knew how much attention he would attract.

He walked into the room, set the tray on the table, and said, “I brought this for you as a gesture of my sincerity; heh heh.”

It was rather unusual to apologize with food, but White Wolf’s approach was quite unique.

This guy moved stealthily and looked highly suspicious. Lin Mo wondered where he got that embassy military attaché uniform. But the entire floor was controlled by the embassy’s military attachés, and outsiders couldn’t possibly sneak in, let alone steal a military uniform.

In Los Angeles, there was a Chinese consulate, and this guy had been on the same flight from Beijing to Los Angeles. Could he have connections with the Chinese embassy in America?

Lin Mo studied him from head to toe. He looked bright and honest, but there was a shifty look in his eyes.

    “What brings you here?”

Lin Mo didn’t refuse; he accepted the food that the server had brought earlier without worry about it being poisoned.

The hotel kitchen was already managed by security professionals from various countries, and they were all vigilant, making any slip-up highly unlikely under such tight security.

“Brother, I’m out here on a mission, but I can’t disclose my identity. I got cornered, and those guys have caught up to me; they are knocking on doors one by one. I had to come seek refuge with you, and I hope you can help me out! Next time, I’ll treat you to a great meal. For now, I offer this as a gift.”

White Wolf was quite straightforward, acting like he was on the run. He knew well that Lin Mo was no pushover, yet he sat down unflinchingly. Being thrown out would be dire; nothing attracted attention more than standing foolishly in the hallway.

Previously, he had learned from Major Mo that among the aviation experts coming to America, there was a strong figure providing security.

Due to security clearance issues, both the embassy and White Wolf had provided incorrect assessments of Lin Mo’s identity.

An ace pilot confused not only the Americans but also most of his own countrymen; the file for "Night" was not accessible to ordinary departments.

“Conducting a security check! We have reliable information that terrorists have placed a bomb on this floor. For your safety and that of others, please cooperate. Thank you!”

Just outside the door, a routine voice spoke up, and suddenly, White Wolf’s door clicked as he unlocked it electronically. He had just obtained a master electronic key card for the hotel room, and the Lockheed personnel eagerly burst inside.

Mitch Friedman rushed in with his subordinate and, upon seeing the room, his pupils shrank instinctively. He unconsciously pulled back his neck and murmured only loud enough for himself to hear, “Dragon Knight!”

It was him, in this very room.

Lin Mo was somewhat surprised to see an American burst in with a look on his face similar to White Wolf’s. He quickly realized that this person, like White Wolf, recognized him and very likely knew his background.

Lin Mo had never been kind to anyone who dared to poke into the secrets of the Dragon Knight. His expression darkened as he asked, “Who are you?”

“Wait!” Mitch Friedman, the head of Lockheed Operations, hurriedly raised his hand to stop his subordinate from following through with their plan to scan the room. He swallowed hard, forced a smile, and introduced himself, “I’m Mitch Friedman, the head of Lockheed Operations. Here’s my business card.”

He certainly knew that this terrifying figure was not just a pilot; he had seen an assassin from Blackwater get taken down without a chance. This guy was formidable, to say the least.

In any context, he stood out as a battlefield ace, significantly overpowering others. Mitch Friedman reflected on how such a creature could be cultivated, constantly reminding himself not to provoke this man; his own stature was far too small to withstand a strike.

Seeing the reaction of the Lockheed personnel upon spotting Lin Mo, the supervisor’s expression resembled that of a mouse encountering a cat, which left White Wolf puzzled.

What was going on here? This brother seemed to share a strange look with the Lockheed crew.

Were they enemies? That would be terrible. Surely, they wouldn’t fight. When not facing him directly, they could harbor plenty of hatred; however, now that they stood face to face, none dared to confront him, and they acted as if standing in front of a chairman who held the power of life and death over them.

Lin Mo did not reach out to take the business card, leaving Mitch Friedman with his warm greeting hanging cold.

“Lockheed?” Lin Mo said, somewhat astonished. “What are you doing here? This is not a place for you. Turn around and leave!”

“I apologize,” Mitch Friedman replied. “We have authorization from the Ministry of Defense. We lost something extremely important that poses a threat to national security, so we need your cooperation.”

Mitch Friedman clearly remembered the reason for his visit; he certainly would not be thrown out by just one response.

He understood that it was foolish to try and convince Lin Mo with the clumsy excuse that there might be a bomb in the hotel but quickly adapted, using the name of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to assert himself.

Even if Lin Mo didn’t care much for Lockheed, surely he would respect the American government. The territory belonged to the United States, which gave Mitch Friedman some backbone, and he straightened up a bit.

Lin Mo frowned. Now that the American government was involved, the situation had changed, and it was going to be tricky to deal with. He said, looking displeased, “You have one minute!”

Lin Mo knew perfectly well that unless he wanted to pick a fight with America, he could not stop these guys from checking. As long as he was innocent, he had nothing to worry about. Lockheed’s secrets were not going to fall into his hands, so he was entirely unconcerned.

“Thank you for your cooperation!” Mitch Friedman sighed in relief, signaling his subordinates, who immediately began scanning every corner of the room.

Compared to the previous troubles, this was a real threat. If they couldn’t recover the stolen “Fenrir” alloy, Mitch Friedman’s role as supervisor would come to an end.

White Wolf felt uneasy, continuously signaling Lin Mo with his eyes, but Lin Mo appeared indifferent.

This guy clearly had the ability to prevent Lockheed from searching, yet he remained indifferent. Was this a personal revenge for offending him?

This was something critically important to the nation; they absolutely could not allow Lockheed to take it back.

However, the more anxious he felt, the more White Wolf couldn’t show it on his face. The turmoil of fire and seawater conflicted within him, leaving him trembling in fear, even more than if he had been targeted by a surface-to-air missile.

This guy was undoubtedly his nemesis.

If Mitch Friedman understood White Wolf’s feelings at that moment, he would likely resonate with him; both were pitiful individuals bullied by this man named Lin.

The Lockheed crew moved swiftly. They scanned the room with electromagnetic scanners, and aside from Lin Mo and White Wolf’s positions, they still found nothing.

Seeing their silent exchange, the two in the room were not checked, but one among them could be troublesome.

Mitch Friedman hesitated; he couldn’t afford any carelessness.

“Do you want to check my body? Go ahead, hurry up.”

Lin Mo spoke impatiently. This group standing there was truly a nuisance. With nothing to hide, he stood up casually.

White Wolf had no choice but to rise alongside him, not daring to utter a word; saying too much could lead to mistakes, and in this situation, revealing even a hint of weakness would have unimaginable consequences.

Mitch Friedman, pleased with Lin Mo’s cooperation, chuckled nervously. He exchanged glances with his subordinates. In this room, particularly facing Lin Mo, he dared not act rashly. Only with Lin Mo’s permission would he give orders to his men, although he was prepared to press and negotiate until Lin Mo yielded. So far, Lin Mo had been fairly cooperative.

Yet still, they found nothing. Both men were clean, and the electromagnetic scanner showed no response.

Mitch Friedman’s gaze wandered to the table, and only one place remained unexplored.

Suddenly, one of his subordinates walked in from the door and whispered a few words in Mitch Friedman’s ear.

Mitch Friedman’s attention abruptly shifted to another Chinese man in the room, aside from Lin Mo.
