Chapter 454
by fanqienovelChapter 454: Sukhoi
Perhaps it was a coincidence, but when Nyarl Grodovyevich kicked out his leg, he was a moment too slow. What was meant to be a trip for Lin Mo turned into a kick.
Even though he didn’t fully exert himself, the one throwing the leg was an Alpha special soldier, the finest warrior from Russia. Even a casual kick from him could send an ordinary civilian to the hospital for half a month.
That kick felt like striking a solid steel pillar; it didn’t even budge Lin Mo.
Lin Mo continued walking forward without a clue, not even swaying as if he had merely brushed against some grass, completely oblivious.
Hiss!
Nyarl Grodovyevich clutched his leg, gasping as if his bones were about to crack.
The situation had changed, and the result had changed.
The intended embarrassment turned into a counterattack, and instead of causing Lin Mo to stumble out of the cabin, it was his own leg that was hurt.
Why is it always me who gets hurt!
Nyarl Grodovyevich only thought of crying out, feeling miserable. He just wanted to embarrass the other guy, but why did retribution come so quickly? Did he owe him in this life and the last?
God, this isn’t fair, it’s so unfair!
The other special forces soldiers who didn’t get a chance to kick looked at each other, bewildered. Why did this Chinese guy seem so weird? It was too strange.
They certainly didn’t believe that Nyarl Grodovyevich had messed up; an Alpha soldier couldn’t just slip up like that.
Lin Mo’s bag was strapped to his chest and wearing his tactical helmet, he reached the now fully opened tail of the Il-76 transport plane, squatted down, braced himself on the deck with one hand, and smiled slightly at the older young men who had lost their footing. Then, as if he had springs attached to him, he leaped out of the cabin.
In the moment Lin Mo’s figure disappeared from the cabin, the Il-76 transport plane seemed to encounter a strong gust of air, shaking violently. All the special forces soldiers were thrown into the air before crashing heavily back onto the deck, rolling into a heap amidst gasps of surprise.
If it weren’t for the seatbelts, everyone might have fallen out like dumplings, all following Lin Mo “OUT.”
Alpha team leader Bloodthirsty Cuckoo Filiel Makarovsky gripped the safety strap tightly, shouting, “Tighten it! What’s happening? Don’t just rely on the seatbelt, hold onto your comrades! Don’t let go!”
What on earth was going on? Had they encountered high altitude turbulence?
The cabin echoed with the harsh creaking sounds of twisted metal, as if it might disassemble at any moment.
The Alpha soldiers held onto each other to prevent the seatbelts from breaking under pressure. Filiel Makarovsky’s concerns were valid; nobody would fully trust their lives to a thin nylon seatbelt. They combined their strengths to fight against the sudden shaking.
“Steady! Tighten it, close the rear cabin, hurry!”
From the cockpit, they heard the pilots screaming, unable to react to the unexpected turbulence. The Old Russians were much more boisterous than the reserved Chinese, howling like wild boars as they struggled with the controls to keep the plane steady.
The pilots, however, did not see the scene unfolding in the back. Their focus was solely on controlling the nearly out-of-control Il-76. All unsecured objects in the cabin were thrown into the air, some even getting sucked to the back and flying out.
After several up-and-down roller coaster-like motions that felt like they would shake out their innards, the aircraft finally stabilized, and the tail door slowly began to close.
The chaotic airflow gradually concentrated and compressed, creating a distinctive whistling sound as the doors opened and closed.
“That guy! It was that guy! That Chinese guy!”
Nyarl Grodovyevich’s assistant, Vagim, pointed at the open tail door, his face pale, in the direction where Lin Mo had jumped out.
As a partner to a sniper, he had a keen eye. Without careful observation skills, how could he work alongside a sniper? Just moments ago, he had witnessed that Chinese guy push off the deck and swiftly launch himself out of the Il-76. With that single push, their entire transport plane had immediately lost balance.
Even though he still couldn’t believe it, he had no doubt about what he saw. What kind of terrifying creature was this? Oh my God, he had even shared a helicopter ride and a meal with them, now flying on the same Il-76.
This kind of monster shouldn’t have been allowed on board. Could it be that all Chinese people were this frightening?
Suddenly, the tail of the aircraft dipped down, requiring astonishing strength.
Alpha team leader Bloodthirsty Cuckoo Filiel Makarovsky lost his usual calm, gritting his teeth and forcing out each word: “Bastard!”
He had been slapped in the face!
The Emperor and Vagim were struck with a blunt force; it was clear they had no reason to complain. Faced with someone who could unbalance an Il-76 with a single hand, they found themselves at a loss.
He was simply playing the role of a pig to eat the tiger; despite being quiet, they had no means to counter his methods.
Who on earth was this guy?
Unfortunately, the upper echelons of the Russian military kept this information tightly under wraps, revealing nothing. The Alpha team leader had no means to know, only able to sigh in frustration at the sky.
Seeing his flustered subordinates, the Alpha team leader sternly commanded, “Everything you just saw and heard must stay in your stomachs. No one is allowed to speak of it. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude to him.”
His hand rested on his waist, clearly preparing to draw his tactical dagger. Anyone who dared to defy the order would definitely receive a lesson. Those who made it into Alpha were all strong and unruly characters; a little firmness was necessary to keep them in line.
Though it was merely an Alpha squad, its destructive power was definitely not less than that of a regiment or even a division.
Under the leader’s glare, several soldiers who had activated the battlefield recording system had no choice but to delete the footage they had just captured. Although the system’s default programming did not allow for deletions, they always found various ways to erase the data, all stemming from their past training.
The Alpha team leader’s decision to silence everything was not only to keep the humiliation a secret, as revealing it wouldn’t be an honorable matter. It might even tarnish the entire Alpha force’s reputation. To avoid such embarrassment, it was better to act as if nothing ever happened.
When Lin Mo jumped out of the Il-76, it caused a momentary shock to the plane, but he fully neutralized the transport plane’s speed as he began to fall vertically toward the ground.
Of course, pushing the Il-76 transport plane wouldn’t just rely on Lin Mo’s strength alone. Although he was much stronger than average, he was not a Hercules. However, with the secret assistance of the gold giant dragon, it was a different story.
The gold giant dragon added metallic density to the tail deck. With just a gentle push, it made the tail of the Il-76 feel incredibly heavy, suddenly dropping before rapidly canceling gravity. The rebounding tail then flung Lin Mo out, and the leftover shockwaves tossed everyone inside the Il-76 around like rag dolls.
The gold giant dragon controlled the turbulence perfectly. Although the ups and downs were terrifying, they did no damage to the aircraft’s structure or aerodynamic balance.
The actual situation was entirely different from what the soldiers in the Alpha squad perceived; everyone misunderstood the truth.
Lin Mo certainly had no intention of explaining to them that he wasn’t the one pushing the transport plane; there were other reasons.
At an altitude of 7,000 meters, the tactical helmet of the Dragon General displayed laser range and pressure readings. With an aviation module built-in, it was naturally suitable for parachuting.
However, as it was merely an individual combat armor, it lacked any gliding capabilities in the air. If they had followed the original timing for deploying a parachute, after being thrust powerfully like this, Lin Mo wouldn’t have been able to reach the designated spot with a parachute’s trajectory.
A pure white parachute bloom appeared in the sky like a cloud. Lin Mo’s countermeasure was quite simple: he opened the parachute early to utilize altitude and wind power for more gliding speed.
The Old Russians were quite stingy, unwilling to hand over the map to Lin Mo, merely waving it in front of him without showing specifics of the landing marker.
But this didn’t stump him. Whispering the incantation for the Light Mirror Technique, a mirror about the size of a dinner plate materialized in front of him. It was unaffected by wind or the drifting of the parachute, and the nearly weightless photons gathered and formed, stabilizing about a foot away from him.
The Light Mirror Technique quickly scanned a radius of ten kilometers around, soon locating a landing spot.
A circular landing marker with a radius of about three meters appeared on a clump of grass. The pure white circular canvas had a prominent cross that matched exactly with the one on the map shown by the Alpha team leader.
This remark was unnecessary; after all, any cross would look the same—a mere cross.
It was a small airport, where several fighter planes were stationed. The outlines suggested that they were Su-27s, along with another Il-76 transport plane. The four-engine large transport plane designed by the former Soviet Union’s Il’yushin was quite widely used, seen everywhere, exported to multiple countries, including China.
On the tarmac, five or six buses were parked, with people stepping off and preparing to board the Il-76 transport plane. Through the Light Mirror Technique, Lin Mo saw the name tags on these people: Sukhoi Design Bureau Co., Ltd.
Lin Mo didn’t recognize the Russian “Сухой,” but he knew the English name “SUKHOI,” which stood out clearly. The identities of these Russians were apparent.
These Russians had no idea that someone was watching them from the sky, hanging beneath a parachute.
